What would be the worst episode to watch first?

Double Jump

Recommended Posts

Any Rarity episode that is not Sisterhoove social.

Crystal Empire - The whole love ending

Every spike episode - I hate spike and he is the worst character on the show. Period.

Mare do well - Badly written

That one where rarity makes dresses for everyone.

Leap of faith - The worst possible episode. Especially if your an anti theist.

Trade Ya- Second worst episode ever. BORING AS BUCK.
Over a barrel - It was just boring.

List of episodes to watch first.

Sonic Rainboom - Rainbow Dash

Putting your Hoof Down - Fluttershy

Pinky Pride - Pinky Pie and if you are a Weird Al Fan

Pinky Apple Pie - Best duo episode

Applebuck season - AppleJack

Winter Wrap up - Twilight Sparkle

Sisterhooves Social - Rarirty

For whom the Sweetie Bell Tolls - Sweetie Bell - Just because I really like the character. I love her eyebrows for some reason. I dunno what it is when she gets angry, but I love the angry or critical eye brow look in her eyes. She is my favorite side character.

I agree under normal circumstances, but if you're dealing with an artist-type friend, I would change it to a hearty recommendation. If this was my first episode, I would've been hooked.

Umm this:

(don't read if you haven't seen the end of Season 3, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!)

Probably the episode at the end of Season 3 where Twilight turns into an Alicorn.

Haven't seen Season 3 and read it anyway?! Don't blame me! ^_^

This is what I was going to say. The episode entirely is singing and for that it just wouldn't work. No story development, no character development, just singing and presenting Twilight as an Alicorn. The person wouldn't even get the sense of what the show is usually like.

I'll ask it again. What's wrong with actually watching the series in broadcast/production order? I guess if I really have to pick an episode to be the worst to watch first, I'd say...

Season one episode TWO!

It would make absolutely no sense whatsoever to watch the second episode of the entire series first. Now before anyone says

"But which one should you cram down a non-brony's throat to force him to like the show?"

I say NONE. If someone doesn't want to watch, I respect that. I see no need to annoy the mess out of family and friends to make them watch something just because I watch it.

All of Season 1 and 2 would be fine I think, since none of the episodes require much context except the 2nd part of each 2-parter.

Magical Mystery Cure is probably where the show starts requiring the most context, since it's a culmination for Twilght and everything she and her friends have done throughout the series. I guess Keep Calm and Flutter On would be pretty hard to get without having seen Return of Harmony. So, I'd say those 2 episodes and pretty much all of season 4 should definitely not be seen first.

"Simple Ways" is a cringe-worthy terrible episode and a terrible first impression.

What I don't get is how this fandom regards the first few episodes as being a lousy way to start out the show.

"Friendship is Magic" two-parter is a perfectly decent series premiere.

I admit that the five episodes from "The Ticket Master" to "Dragonshy" are a bit simplistic to a seasoned Brony, but new fans should still watch these episodes early on for character development purposes. They weren't a chore to sit through then and they aren't now.

Uhh, all the boring episodes like The Ticket Master, Spike at Your Service, Fallweather Friends. Stuff like that.

I would agree with that. When you're watching something for the first time, you'll want something that will grab you like "Canterlot Wedding" or "Lesson Zero."

If I had any specific ones to avoid, it would be the early CMC episodes, and "Somepony To Watch Over You."

Though really, you should start from the beginning. It's always odd to me when people jump around.

Oh, agreed fully. Whenever you start a series, you should always start from the beginning. :)

At the very least FiM won't punish you like other series if you start in the middle or something.

The first episodes I saw were the First Two episodes. (I always watch episodes in the order they are aired.) And the first two episodes are highly underrated in my opinion, they set the tone for the season perfectly.

Can't say I agree... For I have a friend who knows I like MLP and decided to buy me one of the DVDs when he saw it was $10, and one day when were together he made me turn it on to see what it is all about and Lesson Zero was one of the episodes... He now thinks that the show is weird and that Twilight Sparkle is evil. LOL

Can't believe that people really consider episodes like "Ticketmaster" to be boring. I've seen it a few times recently and I found it to be one of the funnier episodes of the show.

I can see where you're coming from, actually. Without any idea of Twilight's character or understanding of her predicament, I can see why someone would think that. That's a good point.

Of course, some people will see the same episode differently, so yeah.

Making a serious post in this topic now, I...really don't know exactly what the worst episode to watch first would be. Everyone has different tastes. I don't think I'd show a friend a lot of the episodes from season 1 though (particularly ones like Griffon the Brush-off and Boast Busters, I can see how their plots could make someone see the show as kiddy). I don't feel a lot of them have aged well.

Hmm, there are quite a few episodes that, while not bad, would be a poor choice for a first impression, but if I had to choose a random one, and I do like it by the way, would be Look Before You Sleep. I think the idea of a slumber party episode would turn would-be fans off, as it doesn't have the best rating the brony fandom.

I feel like it might be better to introduce somebody with fanworks rather than the show proper; if they don't like the first episode, you can believably explain that it gets better from there.

I needed a use for this anyhow.

There are many episodes that just wouldn't be ideal for a newcomer. Really, any and all episodes where you need to know and understand the characters in order to understand the episode.

As has been said before, I don't think that the two pilot episodes should be the first ones to show, since I think they are rather cheesy and cringeworthy. I started from the beggining, and the only reason that I continued watching was because I didn't want to base my opinion off a show on a sample size of just 2 episodes.

An other one would probably be Look Before You Sleep, due to being rather "girly", and therefore reinforcing the assumption many people have that MLP is girly.

A third one (and one I haven't seen mentioned here) would be A Dog And Pony Show. I have gotten the impression that most people seem to like this episode, and I'm not saying that it's a horrible episode, but the diamond dogs were rather cheesy villains, like the kind you would expect from, well... a show for little children.

A good option would be to start at season 2, since it starts with several good episodes in a row. There is however some continuity that may confuse a newcomer, but I don't think it would be that bad.

This answer is the one that makes the most sense. Also your statement afterward is an important thing of note.
