He heard a voice call out. A smile spread across his face as he searched for a blue glow. 'Excellent. They heard me after all.' He ran as fast as he could, getting closer to that blue glow. Rounding a corner, he found a changeling, a pony that matched Orion's description, though Orion didn't say she had wings, and a glowing blue dragon. "Zintiik Changeling and Willow Starsinger? My name is Noble Persona. Orion sent me to find you," He said in a calm and pleasant tone. Very different from the grand and dramatic voice he'd used earlier. As he drew closer, the light illuminated his sinister-looking features.

 

Aegis Dare

"Sounds like a plan. I'm glad to see that I hit panic stations for nothing. Thanks, Aphrodite..." Aegis said while his shadow silently laughed. "Dark side or not, my shadow is definitely not evil. If only it could be helpful. That'd be wonderful."

 

The shadow materialized and glared at Aegis indignantly. Aegis frowned in response. "Don't look at me like that. You could help out a bit, you know. Unlike us fleshling ponies, you can't die." He said, not quite realizing that he was arguing with a shadow.

Eclipse

"That was a very idiotic move on your part, Blast." Eclipse commented, trotting to his side. "You always charge into things without thinking it through. You need to learn to be more self-cautious. It could save your life." He said, trotting along the pathway.

 

Blast

"Ah, what do you know, Eclipse. You can't even remember what you ate for breakfast this morning!" Blast heard a large sigh from the unicorn before trotting along. Pavisa was right. These crystals definitely felt brighter than the ones they encountered before. He began trotting alongside Aphrodite. "Pulling on my tail like that kind of hurt, y'know." He said. "Besides, I wasn't going in without thinking. I was just, uhh... scouting the area! Y'know, so we know what to expect!"

Midnight Sky

 

Suffice it to say, Midnight was not at all pleased with this recent turn of events. Crimson just had to go and upset Orion when they could have gotten away to make a new strategy for stalling his group. "Got it!" Midnight yelled to Crimson before rolling out of the way of the falling debris. Midnight could feel a large chunk hit his head, and was glad that he was wearing his helmet because the block would have brained him otherwise. That said, it still didn't help his headache any. Looking around his new surroundings, Midnight realized that he had rolled right into a hallway that he didn't even remember being there before. As far as he could see it just went on in a straight line, with a glowing crystal every few feet. "Well, no where else for me to go. Crimson and Sunshine will have to handle themselves." Midnight said to himself before starting down the hallway.

 

 

Sunshine Rays

 

"Hi Mirror! I guess I'm talking with you because my brother asked me to try and stall you from finding the others, but I don't get why there are two groups to begin with. You see, I only joined up recently when I came out here looking for my brother since a friend of ours had come home with some pretty bad injuries and had told me all about what was going on. But it seems like both groups are trying to save Equestria from the other, which is pretty weird don't you think?" Sunshine responded to Mirror in happy tone. Just then she heard a loud crashing sound from back where Midnight Sky and the others had stayed behind. "Umm, that didn't sound too good. What happened? I sure hope Midnight is okay." Sunshine said with a backward glance. In truth she knew full well her brother was still alive, she would know if whatever had happened had killed him. Plus he would have never of allowed himself to die without solving their family issues back home. It just felt better to wonder out loud.

"Oh, NO! Somepony call a doctor! Blast's tail is HURT!" Aphrodite sarcastically cried out, putting a hoof to her forehead. "We can't BEAR to see that happen! I can't believe you survived! That's just PEACHY!" Aphrodite glared at Blast. "Scouting, huh? Then you wouldn't mind going alone, then!" Aphrodite smirked, kicking Blast farther into the door.

Pressing forward, Kingfisher felt for the sword with a hoof - feeling relief instead of the cold dread at its touch. Maybe it wasn't so bad: maybe she had been like Pavisa - a guard or something? Of course... that didn't explain what the adventurer had been talking about saying that she had gotten angry over being called a guard.

 

She put it out of her mind.

 

"Pavisa, I dont think I was supposed to destroy the book. We were supposed to do... something... with it. Not read it I don't think, but something." She voiced her concerns. "I don't know, Is that bad? It sounds like the sort of thing that should be destroyed... can it even be destroyed? If it's so old then shouldn't it have decayed by now anyway?"

There was a sound - one that the Aspect didn't like. The changing creature didn't seem trustworthy, but the new threat caught its attention quickly enough: perhaps creatures born without a mind simply had short attention spans.

 

"Kraaa-aaa-agh!"

 

It screeched warningly down the dark passage, glowing more brightly as its cold element flared up.

Blast simply skidded across the floor, holding his hoof against his chest. He simply smirked and ran back up to her. 

"You know what, Aphrodite, you have such a.... hard personality. You don't take shit from anypony, and I like that in a mare. But, you seem a little... crazy to me, and I like that. I sort of like crazy mares."

Zintiik stared at this newcomer, this 'Noble Persona', warily.  Zintiik wasn't trusting of ponies under normal conditions - he didn't know what to make of a stranger in a place like this.  Is he real, or a trick of this temple?  ...If he is real, is it true Orion sent him?  Why would Orion send a pony he doesn't know after his sister?

 

Very carefully Zintiik nudges Willow with one of his pegasus-like wings, leaning close to her ear to whisper to her.  "Willow?  Willow, wake up, there's a pony here who says Orion sent him."  The paranoid changeling continued to keep one eye on Noble Persona as he tried to wake up the sleeping mare.

 

That other group attacked Orion because of his appearance...  Willow looks like an alicorn now too.  Does that mean she'll be attacked too?  I can't let that happen...  I may not be very strong right now, but I won't let anypony hurt Willow.

 

 

Pavisa

Pavisa turns to look at Kingfisher and gives a small nod.  "I don't know.  I doubt it, at this point...  We'll have to figure that out once we actually have it though.  Who knows, maybe you'll remember by then, right?  If all else fails we'll try to take it back to Canterlot.  Princess Celestia or Princess Luna should know what to do with it."

 

With another small grin she nods towards the doorway before stepping through it, following the trail of crystals.  Standing around wasn't going to get them closer to the Litany.  "No sense in deciding what to do with it before we have our hooves on it in either case though!"

"Hah, nice to know that, squirt," Aphrodite said inattentively, eyeing the door. She wanted so badly to rush through there just so that she could get away from Blast. Sure, she had grown quite fond of him and had liked him a little at the beginning of camp, but that crush wore off when she woke up from.. her opposite self. She figured she must've been brainwashed or something like that, since she didn't remember anything. Now, he was starting to get annoying with being so.. well, clingy to her. And she had to admit that she did like kissing Blast on the cheek, though.. She quickly shook off the feelings and turned away from him.

"Huh..?" Willow asked groggily, "what's going on?" Willow rubbed her eyes. She called Kricket over so it wouldn't cause trouble. "Who's he?" Willow asked, gesturing to Noble.

Blast

Blast was beginning to get the message, At first, he thought she was just playing hard to get. Now, he was sort of beginning to realize that she likely wasn't as interested as he thought. It hit home, and he began to walk further along to the front of the group, leaving the mare to herself. She probably needed it anyways.

Eclipse

Eclipse trotted upwards with Blast. He began walking next to Pavisa again, continuing their conversation from earlier.

"Well, if we aren't going to use it, there's only one thing we can do with it; destroy it. If it can cause an alicorn like Orion to go crazy like this, it can't be good for anypony."

'Not the reaction I was expecting at all. Is there a problem with my performance?' Noble thought to himself. He cleared his throat. "As I said to Zintiik, my name is Noble Persona. I was sent by Orion to find you and return you safely to him. He's worried about the two of you, y'know."

 

He noticed the dragon that seemed attached to Willow. 'That must be the Aspect Orion mentioned. Interesting, but that thing will make it difficult to go through with my backup plan of taking her hostage...' He smiled at the three of them. "I suppose words alone won't convince you to trust me, will they?"

The changeling helps Willow to stand, being as gentle as he can with her while staring at Noble Persona.  "He says he knows your brother..."  

 

When Noble brings up trusting him, Zintiik just shakes his head in response.  The pony could have entered with rainbows and a cake and the changeling still wouldn't trust him.  "No offense, but I don't trust easily.  Comes with the territory."  As he speaks his body decides to go through yet another involuntary transformation, causing the changeling's eyes to go from their normal light blue to a bright yellow.

Scribbler stayed silent at Orion's sudden outburst. He knew this was time to keep his mouth shut, the unicorn was still powerful and was being pushed to his limits. He followed Orion as he moved on, keeping an eye behind them, as the Pirate clambered out of the way of the falling stones, and made his remark of following them. He whispered to Orion so that only he could hear "I can see why you fear and loathe these ponies.. They hover after you like vultures, and they won't take a hint..Also I don't trust that one.. the crystal could be used to follow us.. Do you require healing, you look like you're in pain again." He was getting tired from holding the spell, like holding one's arm up and waiting for the muscle to give out.

"I understand." He brushed aside his cloak to reveal his silver longsword, which he removed from the strap holding it in place. He then handed it to Willow. "This is what I treasure most in this world, short of my brothers. By entrusting this to you and rendering myself unarmed, it shows that I have no desire to harm you."

"Pleased to meet you," Willow mumbled. Now Orion was entrusting strangers for her care? She was starting to wonder if Orion just didn't want to care for her anymore. She put the Aspect back in her mane and faced the stranger. "You're a friend of Orion's? How did he meet you?" Willow asked, narrowing her eyes.

Mirror Image looked back towards the source of the sound. Oh dear, I hope Scribbler and Orion are alright. She looked at Sunshine, "Oh so you had...we...have a brother back there? Your brother isn't that 'pirate', right?"

Blake danced and spun from tile to tile. Watching for patterns in the falling, though having the litany within his bag, slowed him down to an extreme. His hooves would slip toward falling edges, but he'd catch himself just in time. Suddenly, a tile dropped out below him.. He caught a tile with his front hooves, and pulled himself up. He catapulted himself through the doorway, the first chance he had, landing by the stairs. "Luck, you're on my side today." He said laughing.

"Actually, we're not really friends yet. You see, when I met him, it was at swordpoint. I had foolishly mistaken him and his friends for apparitions conjoured by this temple. Fortunately, the situation was resolved peacefully." Noble said. He wasn't going to mention the pirate yet. There wasn't any need. "I'll be happy to answer more questions, but we should get moving. Your brother's probably figured out how to track me with my own tracking crystal, and he may get suspicious if I stand around too long."

 

'That may help to set their minds at ease, knowing that I may be under surveillance. Though it may not entirely be a bluff, since there is every chance that he's tracking me as we speak.' He could afford to wait for 5 minutes. After that, he'd need a new plan.

 

Aegis Dare

He really was starting to lose it. Boredom, missing his ability to fly, and the oppressive feeling of the their enviroment was starting to take its toll on Aegis. His body starting to wear out wasn't helping things, either. He contemplated the doorway, wondering if there were traps on the other side and whether or not they'd kill him and end his torment.

 

"Guys, can we take a break? Otherwise, I'm not gonna make it..." He said, sitting against a wall.

So no, he was the other pony, the magic researcher in the fancy armor who was trying to stall you guys by making peaceful conversation. And actually he's one of three brothers as well as two sisters, but he's the only one in Equestria." Sunshine said happily. Unlike her brother, Sunshine had no qualms about talking about where they had come from. She had just agreed to keep it secret during their journey to make Midnight Sky happy. "So, how did you get involved in all this craziness anyway, Ms. Mirror?" Sunshine asked curiously.

Zintiik turns his gaze from Noble to Willow, taking a moment to cautiously nuzzle her to let her know she wasn't alone with the stranger.  "Are you alright to move, Willow?  You sort of collapsed on me there...  I was worried."  His concern for Willow was at the front of his mind right now - as far as the changeling was concerned Orion could get suspicious with Noble if it meant making sure the mare was alright.  After everything Zintiik had gone through she was the only thing real to him at the moment - it didn't matter how weak he felt as long as he was with her.

Pavisa turns back at the sound of Aegis' voice, stopping to listen to what he says.  "You okay, Aegis?"  

 

Idiot, you've been trying to set a soldier's pace when you'r the only soldier in the group...  Getting to the Litany won't mean a thing if I run everypony ragged to get there.  "Er, I guess we can stop to catch our breath...  We've been on the move ever since we entered here, haven't we?"

"I was traveling through the woods to Canterlot for my next performance when we crossed paths. Orion informed that a group of bandits had been attacking him and were in the area. I decided it would be best to stick with him until I could get to Canterlot. And now I'm here. So if you aren't from Equestria where are you from?

Noble nodded. It was perfectly clear to him that neither trusted him and the Aspect would make his life hell. Not to mention that he had given up his blade for now. 'How irritating... I shouldn't have to prove myself to anypony. But this is necessary for my goals. I have to get the Litany, no matter what.'

 

"Is something wrong?" He asked. "Am I being too friendly? Because I've been told that by a few ponies."

"Huh, well this must be quite the detour for you then. And I think my brother would probably be insulted if he learned he had been confused as a bandit." Sunshine said with a laugh. The very idea of her brother as a bandit was simply hilarious. He would never admit it, but Sunshine knew her brother actually enjoyed playing the prince, contrary to what he let's on. "As for where were from, my brother and I came from a country far to the west called Neighland. The journey to come here took about a year, so that should give you an idea of how far away it is. To be honest we didn't even know Equestria even existed until we got here, and seeing as we lived in the royal palace and had free access to all the archives, I'd say that means something." Sunshine said. She knew her brother would be mad if he found out she was saying all this so freely, but she highly doubted that their enemies even knew that Equestria existed so it was safe to assume that they didn't need to be so cautious here. Besides, Sunshine could bet that the opposite was also true, she certainly hadn't seen any evidence that anypony in Equestria knew about Neighland.

"It's okay to be too kind at times.. I know you're just trying to make us comfortable." She smiled at the stallion and trotted the way Noble came from. "You have my apologies for troubling you.. Kricket doesn't exactly trust ponies very well. Zintiik is also trying to protect me since Orion wants to keep me safe." At that moment, Willow regretted doubting her brother. Why else would he send so many things and ponies and.. bugs, after her? She glanced at Zintiik. Did he only want to save her on account of her brother, or did he really just want to find her? Orion's clearly created the Aspect.. but it seems to care for her as she cares for it. But that was because Orion made it protect her.

 

"So does any of these ponies really care for me? Ugh, so many questions!"

Zintiik followed after Willow quietly, sparing a glance at Noble Persona before letting his gaze drift to his hooves.  He didn't trust this new pony, but it seemed as though they didn't have a choice but to believe him.  As he walked after the mare, the changeling winces slightly at something she says.

 

 

 

Zintiik is also trying to protect me since Orion wants to keep me safe.

 

 

He glances away again, mumbling quietly under his breath.  "But...  Orion didnt send me this time..."  He shakes his head and continues to follow quietly.  What did you expect, bug-brain?  You're a monster who hurts ponies, of course she'd think you're here because of Orion.  Almost as though his body were mocking him it goes through another unwilling transformation, changing his tail into a brown pony's tail that reminded him of the one he would wear as Tactic Wind.  Sheesh, I'm going to look even more like a monster than normal if this keeps up...
