How do you use music to help with your feelings?

Hey guys.

So as you can tell, I am really into music. I use music to help when I am sad, or I just listen everyday in general to make me happier. Sometimes when I am sad I listen to sad music to cry-I mean who doesn't want to just let all of their tears out once in a while?

Music really helps, especially when your parents are fighting constantly. It gives me the courage and the strength to keep going every single day of my life. If it weren't for music, I may not be on this planet. :')

I guess I am just asking what the title says. How DO  you use music to help with your feelings, or just everyday things in general? Just curious. smile.png

And please, share some music that you use everyday with me and everyone else.

Wub on! /)

i use music for everything.

when i'm sad, i play the loudest hardcore EDM i can find, i do prefer something melodic with some good synthesizers when in a sad mood tough.

when i'm angry, i play some music and usually go work out. i find this a very usefull thing to do, since i get all of my anger out of me and i get in shape in the same time!

when i'm happy, i usually play even louder hardcore EDM, or terrorcore. and sometimes when i;m lazy i play some hardstyle. just for the epic melodies and awesome screetches you won't find in any hardcore track.

Sounds like me. XD

This is actually one of the songs I listen to often when I am upset:

Or I listen to some sad songs on MrSuicideSheep's YouTube. It's pretty nice, and there are a lot of great songs on there. :D

But I listen to hardstep sometimes as well. It really gets me pumped for things such as my races or other sports.

Hm, well I mostly listen to music for entertainment, not to help with my feelings or anything lol. Although when I'm angry, I like to listen to heavier, angrier music I guess lol. And when I'm sad I sometimes listen to MLP:FIM songs to try and cheer myself up, but it doesn't usually help that much :/

Try some songs from this channel when you are sad.

There is a huge mix between pumped music and sad. I think you might like it. smile.png

MLP songs do help me a ton as well. Especially everyone's remixes. These bronies are really super talented, I love it. ^^

I love music, i use it to help with all kinds of feelings, whether to pump me up, cheer me up, make me happy, or just rock out, maybe even just playing music on the field with the band in marching competitions, for the experience....

I love my band music. Well, at least since last year. My old band teacher was a real jerk, and picked probably the worst songs possible. XD They actually pump me up because they get stuck in my head after a while, and I hum them while I run. It's weird. Me and my friend both end up humming the same stuff. Haha.

Yeah, i love my band, and our show music, and playing in the stands is fun to.

I love our band director, sure she has times shes can be harsh, but shes good with having times where we work hard, and having times where we have fun, and i love that.

Also our band director is quite alot of fun to talk to, and has done some hilarious stuff, and is also a very talented musician aswell.

Plus watching her conduct is incredibly entertaining ;p.

And my show music, aswell as stands music gets stuck in my head easily, but i love it so Idc ;p.

And me and my fellow band members randomly hum our show ;p.

I listen to music every single day. I can't go through my day without it. It's like as essential to me as water, food, and adequate sleep. lol I use to help me whenever I feel sad, to motivate me whenever I feel determined, to keep me happy whenever I'm in a good mood, and to keep me energized at the parties. xD

I play all sorts of genres of music. It depends on my mood. But when I'm able to find the right song that best corresponds to my emotion at the time, it helps me think, relax, and reflect on things much easier than if I was in pure silence.

I try to listen to uplifting music when I'm sad so I can be happy.

When I'm happy, I tend to listen to rock 'cause I love the emotion expressed in the genre. Plus, when I'm happy, the type of music I listen to doesn't affect my mood. I just stay happy.

When I'm about to go to bed, I'll listen to something soft, usually just orchestras, from movie soundtracks, or stuff made by bronies.

When I'm at a swim meet and I need to get psyched up for a race, I'll listen to fast paced rock music. One of my favorites to listen to before a race is "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" by The Offspring, though I listen to a clean version.

Other than that, I listen to a very wide variety of genres in music. :D

For me that's relatively simple. Just look at what i have in my blog. Although I could have added a bunch more tunes, i'm afraid offline activities have been a dominant part life right now. Doesn't mean i'm still keeping an eye on things though... At what scale does the music mean something is the question you should ask yourself.

When my thoughts get a bit too much, I like to listen to SuicideSheep on Youtube. Especially the Tom Day pieces, they're awesome!

Otherwise, I listen to rock music, no matter my mood. Just closing my eyes and mumbling along(occasionally) does wonders for me.

I like to use music to rock out too. I also like listening to it when I'm bored. If I'm conflicted about something music can open my eyes to new ways of thinking if the song correlates to what I'm feeling. For example if I'm feeling down and I listen to a song that's upbeat, positive and makes me feel alive then I roll with the tunes and feel really uplifted. Music also can make me FEEL emotion. Whenever I'm not feeling a particular emotion I listen to a song and BAM I'm feeling whatever that song wants me to feel. It's really cool, and intense. lol

Oh man, I use music for a lot of things:

- Angry: I listen to Bring Me The Horizon's death-core days. Their false chords were mean and it feels like I just screamed with so kuch anger that I feel happy again(lol).

- Sad: Anything on my iPad. Music cheers me up no matter which genre.

- Happy: Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!(lol happycore) and other post-hardcore bands/punk bands make me smile even more and puts me in an even better mood.

- Love: If I have a crush and I think about her, I listen to I See Stars. Mostly songs like Electric Forest or What This Means To Me.

- Pumped up: Bring Me The Horizon. I start wanting to jump and it helps with working out, since I feel like going nuts.

That's kinda it really. I use for a lot of occassions, but I don't have the biggest library ever.

Music, imo, was made to put people in to good moods. I would never try to say I use music to put me in a worse mood, the most extreme I would go is to say music might mellow me out, but that isn't a bad mood imo. I just use it to make myself feel better.

As a classical performer, I'm all too aware of how powerful music can be. And I'm proud of it. It's been clinically proven that music can alleviate depression and other mental problems. It connects with the soul and gives it a chance to empathize with the music. Those same composers from long ago too were humans with feelings. They know all about sadness, desire, and more. The point of the Romantic Era was to portray a desire to come back to the calm, pastoral life while entrenched in a world of smog and overcrowding.

Oh my gosh, SuicideSheep is great for that. I love it. :) They have the right kind of Electro for me, and Dubstep, along with some amazing chillsteps and emotional.

You sir, deserve a cookie. :o

Those words were so perfect. Haha. :P It is very true. Music always connects with my mood or how I am feeling. And it definitely gets to my soul. I sometimes end up rocking out or bobbing my head when nobody is around.

I consider music to be the language of emotion, so when I'm feeling gray, I turn on something dramatic, like the LoTR soundtrack or something like that, and it always gets me going again. And when I'm feeling really down, I can play "Smile, Smile, Smile" and Pinkie will cheer me right up!

Hm, I'm not really much of a fan of Dubstep, I think that it's more of 'crowd' music, something to be enjoyed with others at a concert or something.

Emotional? What's that? O.o

I couldn't have survived for days in remote wilderness/hitchhiking in foreign countries without music to drive me through some of the rougher spots. It really speaks to me on such a level, I couldn't imagine a life without it. I've even come to appreciate genres I wouldn't have listened to at home; everything truly has a place.
