How do you use music to help with your feelings?

For me making music has always been about 2 things...Expression, and memory storage...

I realize the second one sounds kinda weird, but hear me out...

Firstly expression is pretty straight forward, I write what I'm feeling (Or listen to something similar) and I let that transpose into something emotional, with a story/background. I feel all music should be this way...written out of what the person is feeling...I'm so tired of seeing producers that make something just to become popular, or just for money reasons...music should stay personal. If others like it great! then do it. But if they hate it, also great! keep doing what makes you happy! (Of course that doesn't mean to ignore constructive critisism, hear everyone out! sometimes they do have good advice!)

Second, Memory storage...I'm not really talking about hard drives or floppy disks here...(though they do relate)

I'm talking about music, and mental memories...I believe with some music, it's like a good painting. It's capturing a moment in time that you can replay over and over again. A song that transports you somewhere in time or within your very mind that enables you to recollect, and re-live a certain experience. It took me one whole year to write my track "Abandoned City Dreams" because the whole story behind it was based off of this weird, yet peaceful dream I had about an abandoned city. I put every ounce of emotion/feeling into that track that I could, so every time I listen to it, I can have that same feelings I did in my dream. I can feel transported back to that abandoned city, and have that nostalgia of the experience...Easily reliveable any time I so choose.

Listening to music is the same way...I love to listen to music that takes me places, or has emotions relateable to mine at the time...If I'm happy, I'll throw on some upbeat electro, some bouncey house, some chippy dubstep, or some happy hardcore and I'll be glad! If I'm sad/serious, I'll listen to some emotional trance, classical, hardstyle/gabber, IDM, ambient, brutal brostep to calm me down...

There's a song for everything and everyone out there! you just have to find it! wink.png

(Also, just in case you experience this...never let anyone tell you you're weak if you cry...I mean shoot, I cried at celestia's song in MMC, and I'm a grown man! I just found that scene and celestia's message beautiful...liquid pride is a necessary thing to keep us alive and well mentally...it's natural, and in my opinion...beautiful. A song that can make me tear up clearly reflects it as a work of art...never let anyone tell you different!)

Hey, my mom listens to the Dropkick Murphys. They're pretty great. tongue.png

Music makes me break down sometimes too, so I can relate to you. If you listen to MrSuicideSheep on YouTube, there are chillsteps, dubstep, and some of those emotional songs that make you break down lol.

Sheepy is just one channel, then we have such great people like Rameses B, Blackmill, MitiS, but sheepy posts their songs so i guess you can count them as one.

and if you want some music tips, i am your man, i constantly search for new music and is open to try pretty much anything.

like for example; ya want Celtic music = brunuhville and Adrian VonZiegler, loud noises which barely make sense = We Butter Bread With Butter :D
