I was just thinking if you had to label one of the main six as the grouch,

 

i was totally stumped.  I mean the first episode twilight hands down but that was light years ago.

I think Rainbow Dash can come off as crabby. I mean she does have her moments. I mean she did show how crabby she can be in Dragonshy where she had to put up with Fluttershy's fear of dragons. I mean in that episode she was so terrified of them that her wings suffered from some sort of fear paralysis which resulted in her unable to fly. And AJ had to drag her a good way up the mountain. AJ demonstrated a lot of patience in doing so whereas I don't think RD would have that kind of patience.

I think maybe rainbow dash. She gets pretty riled up at the tiniest of things and is pretty impatient. Rarity would be a close second, but she's more "complainy" than crabby and isn't quite as seriously mad as RD. Rarity is kinda just a drama queen <3

Rarity though Rainbow Dash is not very far behind, Rarity is often very temperamental and overly dramatic which can really make her seem like a grouch even in some cases when she dosen't intend to be. Rainbow is often though she has improved quite a bit in this, short tempered, impatient and high impulsive she is in many ways the textbook definition of a type a personality. She is very ambitious which is good but can sometimes get cocky and brash which she has also improved on but some has quite a bit of work to do. She also has deep seated insecurities regarding her emotions and her "rep" and has on a few occasions gotten a bit defensive about it.

Honestly I would have to say Twilight. While she can be level headed; she has been seen to be irritated and angered easily several times  depending on the subject at hand. Especially when things aren't going to well.

 

Rarity and Rainbow Dash are also good candidates but I think Rainbow fits the bill more perfectly.

Probably Dash, with Rarity being a close second. Dash is grumpy, brash or just blunt quite often, as her mood can swing from one end of the spectrum to the other very quick. Rarity is a drama queen, and as such, easily comes off as crabby, whiny, etc in various situations.

Light years is a measure of DISTANCE not TIME. Sorry, egghead reflexes... I think the crabbiest is... as much as I like Rarity, I would say the crabbiest is Rarity. Why? I guess it's just anxiety from her work and all.

And the fact that she snaps at others when performing activities which require asking for help from others is something that has always rubbed me the wrong way and see her as the crankiest of the Mane Six.

At times, Twilight can be very crabby. This is most shown in the first episode, though to be fair she just met a bunch of odd ponies. 

Also, she seems very disgruntled when it comes to Pinkie.

Enraged Fluttershy is a huge grouch and acts like a gangster
