ronin gave him a flat stare "no reason... Really? Have you looked in a mirror lately? Your very appearance resembles that of a demon. The teeth, the tail, the eyes; it all seems rather demonic to me." He said, before sighing "but that's just my opinion, and to be fair you look more akin to a vampire." He said with a smirk

Shadow grins showing off the tooth filled maw. "That's pretty true, you ponies touched on a good vampire when you filled the mouth teeth. But these little modifications have already proven necessary regardless... Besides its the actions that describe a being not the appearance." (OCC (No he's not talking about the thing with the litany, he's giving you guys a free card on that cause you really didn't know.)) He then gets an amused look and eyes the swordspony with a smirk. "And nice try with the vampire thing but i'm not going to 'bite'."

ronin sighed "wish it were so simple..." He muttered, before turning to the others. "You probably didn't know this, but we've got more members of our group. They were separated from the rest of us while we fighting. Any way you could help us track them down faster? Or is it too much for even a... Whatever you are, to do?" He asked curiously

"I've been watching you for a while you know? Know more about you than you do..." Grumbled the outsider in a very pony-like tone of exasperation - tired of the incessant bickering. "Come on... anything to shut you all up."

The dead wastelands held one benefit - there weren't any auras to confuse with these 'companions'. Focusing on the direction of the largest, she flitted away through Arcana towards it - returning seconds later.

"Huh. You ponies haven't figured that one out yet have you?"

Taking them with her was an option - one or two at a time wouldn't drain her after all... but that involved touching them. She shuddered at the thought - magic and flesh weren't compatible and they just felt so strange to touch - so very dense and heavy compared to the creature of magic and air... she supposed that 'shadow' could do it - but he probably wouldn't.

 

"Well I'm not carrying you... so unless he's going to, I guess your walking." She shrugged. "I guess thats their aura in the distance: nothing else alive out here except for a few wild animals you might have released from our world... 'Shadow' can show us the way - might stop the arguing for a few minutes at least."

It was still quite funny - listening to how easily the second outsider took to the name. She hated labels - always had, and these ponies were even more obsessed with naming things than the Wyverns had been.

ronin watched 'amethyst' as she seemingly teleported away, before reappearing. "Was that some strange form of teleporting?" He thought, as he heard her explanation. "Alright, looks like we're walking then. I don't feel like being carried around by magic like a foal anyway." He said bluntly, as he began to walk forward

White Eclipse

Eclipse tried to keep his distance from the two ponies and just walk beside Ronin. He then whispered into the stallion's ear.

"Look, I don't like these guys any more than you do, but we need to cope with them. If these beasts really are powerful as they say they are, we're going to need all the help we can get. You don't have to kiss their asses, but don't do anything you might regret later."

As ronin waited for the others to follow he paused, lost in thought. "I don't know what it is about these two, they're definitely not ponies... But that female one... Amethyst. There's something about her... I'll have to keep my eye on that one." He thought, before shaking his head as eclipse spoke to him. "Sorry, ya say something? I was distracted..." He said, his mind still elsewhere.

Midnight Sky

 

At this point Midnight could easily say he felt relieved. First they managed to resolve that argument, for the most part anyway, and now they were on the move and making good progress towards the others. For once things were actually going smoothly, though how long this would last Midnight had no idea. After all, who knows how the others will react to their story or their new associates. Once again Midnight couldn't help but think that for a simple trip to the Crystal Empire, this has become quite the disaster. The only thing going for him personally was that his armor kept him nice and warm, though Midnight could tell that his time in the lodge had been enough to weaken the enchantment slightly, it was something he could deal with for the time being. And to believe that he had once held reservations about wearing his armor during this little quest, when it had easily saved his life several times on this trip already. "I guess I should have kept more magic energy in reserve when I used my chaos burst. Then I would have been able to teleport us ponies there and Amethyst and Shadow could use their method of rapid travel to where the others are. As it stands I only have the energy to teleport one of us, and I think I'll save that in case one of us get badly hurt on the way there for whatever reason, such as being attacked." Midnight said as he walked along with the others.

Shadow shook his head at the thought of carrying the ponies. "No free rides for you guys... Just follow the hoof prints and occasional puddles of puke for about 20 minuets and you'll find them."  *'Not real hard to find even for a pony, just follow the smell of puke.'* Then after thinking for a few seconds he smirked at his companion and used her pathway to check out the other ponies. More curious about their companions than the ponies who where in for a long walk.

Emerging far above the other ponies in a dark mist-like form, his darker color allowing him to blend in with the ceiling of the cavern. After a few moments of thought he decided to watch them for a bit instead of just forming in the middle of them... He'd had enough unpleasantness for a good while and was tired of having attacks thrown his way so he figured that appearing in the middle of them without reason would just cause further headaches.

Clockwork smiled as the cigarette was passed his way. He took it graciously and placed it between his teeth. "You and I both.. but you will find that I am always true to my word, my friend. A deed done shall not be forgotten by me. Here's hoping we survive this little excursion.. Thank you, by the way." He lit the cigarette, and handed the lighter back. He took a long haul, burning the cherry brightly and inhaling the smoke deep into his lungs. It had been a long time, but he hadn't forgotten the pleasures of smoking. This was a luxury he felt was needed in a time like this. He could feel his stomach soothed, and his nerves calmed. It would have been difficult to tell if it was the nicotine or the spell being cast unbeknownst to him. He nodded in return as Frost got up to speak to Pavisa. Then realizing she had been casting something, he raised his brow. "Well, that would explain it. I didn't think the smoke would be so fast, and I suppose I was right." He thought, then taking his attention back to the thought of their position. He laid still, puffing on the cigarette periodically. The smoke wreathed his hat and mane, as though it were his cloud of thought made visible.

Denarius continued forward, his movements mirroring closely Orion's own. He watched as the unstructured walls and flooring of the cramped corridor gradually shifted into something resembling a lost civilization. He had never seen any structure like this before. His eyes darted all over trying to take in what little fragments of architectural decadence were left, yet he soon became enamoured with the dull glow of the crystalline shapes adorned upon the stone. His eyes traced the crystal's placement throughout the room.

 

Orion spoke up and interrupted Denarius' fascination of the pale light emanating from the crystals. He rolled his eyes, was he really supposed to believe that somepony would be lurking around the equivalent of little more than a cultural mausoleum. He took in a slight yawn before speaking to Orion with a relaxed grin about his face. "You sound unsure there, were you expecting more than some dusty ruins. This place currently seems more akin to a tomb than some magical hotspot".

Ronin nodded and was about to walk forward before pausing nervously "er... What direction was it in again?" He asked, already completely clueless on where to go. It didn't matter how competent a warrior or adventurer he was, he'd always be stupid when it comes to sense of direction. He decided he'd wait for someone else's lead

Great. Because there wasn't enough magic already and now Pavisa was...

 

'Thats not fair! She's your friend - she can't help it! She didn't want this! Stop feeling sorry for yourself and buck up, there's nothing wrong with you!'

 

She was right of course: and being selfish. None of them had wanted any of this and right now they just had to deal with what was put in front of them. Here was her friend - obviously distressed - and here was Kingfisher getting stroppy about magic?

 

"Y'know, you never cease to amaze me." She grinned weakly. "Hold up a sec - I'm gonna see what's ahead while everyone catches their breath."

She stretched and shook herself - feeling a little revitalised. More awake - somehow.

 

"I'm checking out the tunnel, if anyone else feels up to it - wont take long."

"Useless..." Muttered the outsider under her breath with a smirk as the idiot blundered around despite being clearly shown the way. The other ponies seemed to at least be able to navigate somewhat: as crude as their method of traveling might be.

 

Flitting through the air, she appeared above the one taking the lead and watched from above before flitting away again. If he wanted to be the one to walk into danger then that was just fine by her!

 

"You know, you ponies are a lot more vocal than the Wyverns. A lot more chatty..." She commented to nobody in particular. "A lot more stubborn too... even though you don't have claws or real magic or anything... Do none of you ever consider the fact that you might live longer if you ran away once in a while? If you actions reflect your whole race then its a wonder you've lasted as long as you have..."

Frost looked over to Kingfisher seeing as she was getting up, he was happy she was doing better. When she asked if anyone was up for checking the tunnel with her he couldn't help but chuckle. "Another tunnel eh? Well I needed something to do so I guess you can count me in to this one." He said with a smile as he adjusted his bow and quiver back onto his saddle bags and clipped them down.

Nodding in acknowledgement, Kingfisher made her way towards the darker area. The crystals - while still dim - seemed to shine more brightly as they drew near: illuminating the path ahead. It was unnerving at first, but also comforting. After all - the darkness ahead meant that they were alone.

 

"You've been pretty quiet... doing okay?" The mare asked - concerned, but mostly to break the awkward silence as they made their way forward. The ground was even enough but she still kept expecting to stumble and fall - though it never happened. "Third time lucky huh? Be nice if nothing tried to kill us this time..."

"Huh?  What are you..."  The mare wasn't sure what they were talking about, at least not until she crossed her eyes to look in the direction of her forehead and noticed the faint glow coming from her horn.  "Ah!  No!  I mean, that wasn't me!  Oh buck me, now it's doing things without me telling it to..."

 

As the two started to make their way deeper into the cave, Pavisa groans and pushes herself to her hooves.  Falling down once as her rear legs still don't fully cooperate, she shakes her head and makes herself stand properly before chasing after them.  "Hey, let me come too...  I can't just sit around, I'm going to go insane if I don't stay busy."  She averts her gaze as she catches up, looking at the walls of the cave rather than at her friends.

Zintiik looked at the walls of the ruins with worry, memories of what had happened to him at the Falls creeping into the back of his mind.  As Denarius spoke up the changeling shakes his head and snorts quietly.  "No...  The last place like this we were at, well, we should at least be feeling something by now..."  It was about that moment when Zintiik remembered he was still feigning amnesia about the Falls - so rather than continuing, the changeling clamps his mouth shut and shakes his head again.

Frost smiled as he followed beside Kingfisher, he was happy he had at least something to do instead of sit around and be the quiet one of their little group. He looked around the cave to take in the sights, as well as look for anything that looked out of the ordinary, or dangerous.

 

Frost turned his attention back to Kingfisher as she asked him if he was alright. He hesitated a moment before nodding. "Well let's just say that I'm shy, as I'm sure I have told you before, being around lots of new ponies can be awkward for me, but I feel I will overcome it soon." He said giving a reassuring smile as Kingfisher slipped and stumbled a bit. "You alright there? Hehe I guess so." He smiled as his ears perked up to the word kill. "Yes that would be great, I've honestly been thinking that we just had a huge stroke of misfortune." He said with a friendly chuckle

ronin stopped and looked at the strange female "firstly, this is my claw." He said, gesturing to his sword "and secondly, I see no point in living if not to protect those you care for. Besides, I hate running." He explained calmly, as he looked at her for a moment longer before looking down. He didn't know why, but he felt uncomfortable around her. "Something strange about that woman... Am I afraid of her? No, not possible. I have no reason to fear her..." He thought

"You should be resting..." Kingfisher noted with a feigned grumble - raising a brow in the dark as she smirked. Always there, always reliable... the was Pavisa. She hadn't let them change her - even now that she had been stripped of her rank she was more of a guardian than any of the pencil pushers or show ponies that called themselves the Canterlot Guard.

 

'More like the Old Guard in Saddle Arabia actually...'

 

Regardless, she was still here - and Kingfisher for one took comfort in that fact. It wasn't just her protection or usefulness, but just being near to her...

 

'No! No, important things going on here. Stop thinking 'bout things like that 'Fisher - Cap'n would kill ya if he knew you were slackin' - even mentally!'

She looked over towards Frost again. A shy mercenary... well, it took all kinds of pony she supposed.

 

"I think we are the 'misfortune' sometimes... Seems we trail bad luck wherever we go."

 

While true, she was still alive - which was an achievement in of itself - and so were her friends. She has grown accustomed to calling them that too, which was another small victory. While things could have been better - they could certainly have been worse. She tried to not think about the other four that stayed behind - there was still time for them to catch up.

 

"But, y'know... we're still alive. Beaten and bruised but we're still breathing. Just need to get some rest, some food and a safe route back to the civilisation. Never wanted to get back to a city more that now..."

 

She carefully made her way down the silent hall - feeling her tense body begone to finally accept that they were out of danger. With a sigh of relief, her stance shifted into a more relaxed step that she hadn't used in years.

 

"I think we made the right decision with Half-Moon pass - It seems safe enough, better than anywhere else we've stopped so far anyway.."

Aegis rubbed his forehead and glanced towards the others, taking note of their condition and attempts to recover. “I think asking how that happened probably goes without saying by now. Why does this crazy stuff keep happening to us?” He asked rhetorically.

 

He noticed Kingfisher, Pavisa and Frost inspect the tunnels and followed them, getting back into his natural rhythm quickly. His head was still pounding, but no point in sitting around. He walked up beside them and tapped Frost on the shoulder. “Yo.”

Clockwork watched as the others began making their way down the passage. He looked about himself, counting the others, they would be fin for the time being if he chose to take a stroll. The doctor was with them as well, so he stood. "May as well go for the walk, it might do me some good to keep moving for now." He thought, then turned to trot down the tunnel after the others. "Wait up, I'm coming along." He called after them, and sped up to catch them.

Frost stayed silent and gave an occasional smile and nod to Kingfishers comments, not paying attention to the other ponies were entering the cave. He opened his mouth to ask a question to the mare before he felt a tap on his shoulder causing him to jump slightly. He turned his head to see Aegis and let out a large sigh of relief. "Bucking hell Aegis." He chuckled.

 

He turned back to Kingfisher to ask his questions. "Hey...Kingfish? Mind telling me more about this Litany? Yet I want to know more about this Orion character, you know him well?" Frost asked. He wanted to keep the conversation going but he wanted to know more about the situation he was in.

Blasted Nova

Blast simply stayed behind with Icarus while the others went into the tunnel. He couldn't believe he couldn't go. What if they ran into some kind of perilous danger in there? What if they died? He couldn't be there to help them if they ran into anything.

 

"Icarus, this absolutely blows..." Blast said. "Why would they just leave us here like this..."
