Now granted, this case is less malicious than you might think. He's under the belief delusion that the Substitutes really are just tools and that their sentience is a glitch. To him, hitting them is just like hitting a computer to get it to work right. Nik is so stuck up, that he can't accept that he's wrong

No kidding, he's Hatchiyack now. Hatchiyack held a grudge....for 10,000 years. He was literally powered off of grudges and hatred for Saiyans. When he reaches Earth, where the remaining Saiyans, we find out that his grudge is because his race was killed off by the Saiyans.

 

One character points out that all the evil Saiyans are dead, Hatchiyack replies that he doesn't care and that they're still Saiyans, therefore evil. One of the most sympathetic DBZ villains

It helps that he's an AI who was programmed with that information. 10,000 years to stew a grudge plus the fact that it is his life purpose, you've got a villain who's really evil but kind of pathetic too.

 

When he'd defeated, he simply breaks down crying, having failed to avenge his race. The lack of grudge energy then makes him die as he shuts down
