Hi guys,

I'm currently in a bit of pickle with my laptop. The problem is when it intalls a new update, upon restarting it gets stuck on the configuring updates screen. It generally gets to around 12% before it gets stuck and eventually restarts itself only to do the same exact thing.

If anyone can help I'll give you internet cookies! :D

So, let's make sure I understand, everytime you turn on the laptop now it starts configuring at boot to around 12% than restarting again? Or is it after boot when you're on the window's desktop?

If it is the first question well, you're out of luck. A system file is corrupt and you'll have to reinstall windows or whatever OS was on your computer.

Hi, thanks for the response! It's when i turn it on that it gets stuck. However I'm pretty sure it's not a system file as I have figured out a temporary fix where I start the computer in safe mode and then turn it off and on again which reverts the changes of the update. This then allows me to log on and use the computer as normal until I switch it off again which causes it to update again meaning the next time I turn it on it gets stuck configuring and I have to do it all over again. I hope that makes sense :S

I haven't straight out ran into this before so anything I recommend may not work.

I suggest going into safe mode with networking and just completely re-install the update in there if possible. I'd also back up your information in case of a catastrophic OS failure, resulting in complete loss of data. I had a friend get the BSOD from just trying to update.
