You should definitely try out New Super Mario Bros. or Rayman Origins/Legends! It's not exactly some extreme video game with intense explosions and guns all out blazing, but it's definitely really fun platform to play with friends. There are also some fighting games like Super Smash Bros or Playstation All Stars Battle Royale, which is also worth a try if you need any entertaining games for a small party or something!

Problem is, multiplayer games that are NOT FPSs is pretty far and in between these days.

Unless they are MMORPGs, or god forbid MOBAS *shudder* I absolutely hate those, I don't see the massive worldwide obsession with them at all.

Ummm.... Castle Crashers? That one won't keep you guys busy for long though.

Fable 3 has some co-op elements.

F1 2011 and newer if you like racing games, I believe from 2011 onward they have co-op career modes.

Starbound

Terraria

That is all I can think of off the top of my head. PC seems to be only good for a handful of genres, the majority of multiplayer non-fps games are on consoles.

Definitely Rayman Legends, especially for the Wii U, considering you can have up to FIVE players.

You should also try out Super Mario 3D World. It's an awesome 3D platformer that has the playable characters from Mario 2 packed with their special abilities, like Luigi being able to jump higher.

I'm not one for shooters and stuff, though. I'm more for platformers and stuff. I can assure myself that with almost every platformer I play, it'll pack a fresh, new experience. With shooters, I can only get excitement out of shooting the ever-living snot out of something for so long.

Well I unfortunately have an FPS game suggestion, although the gameplay is nothing like CoD or Battlefield

and that game is Unreal Tournament 2004.... tons of fun... especially with the ballistic mod.

I'll be on the #! forums if you want me.

Counter Strike. It is an FPS, but it is a heavy Team based FPS. You and your friends will be relying heavily on each other, and constantly thinking. It's a really fun game, but if your looking for a relaxed game, then this may not be the best choice.

Nintendo party games have great local multiplayer. We just finished our party here and played random maps on Starcraft. Diablo 2 is a great game to run through as well, even if you've played through before. You guys should break out some card games/board games at some point too as well though.

Two Words and one Number..

team_fortress_2_group_photo.jpgProbably one of my favorite multiplayer games of all time, (and one of my favorite games of all time) This game is the perfect mix of team work and cooperation. The 9 classes all have their weaknesses and triumphs over the others. Along with the awesome gamemodes and the mix of teamwork involved, this game can make a great experience.

                                                                                              That is all.

But if you're looking for a local and/or less gory approach, go for some Nintendo games.

Dead Island or L4D2 if you're into zombies. Minecraft, Castle Miner Z, and similar games are fun that can support 4+ people.

Look up Assaultcube though, it's an extremely fun FPS that is SUPER easy to mod. Lots of fun, also free!

What platform are you all playing on ?

On PC I'd recommend Starcraf 2, League of Legends or Dota also DayZ.

As for console I'm not too sure.

Eeyup.

I agree this is my favorite, but my 2nd (I know) is actually Battlefield 4.

Funass game, the classes are actually fairly balanced, and unlike COD, a decent experience without tryhard camping.

I don't know if your talking about splitscreen if yes then. Burnout 3 & Revenge, Star wars Battlefront 1 &2, The smash bros series, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, The mario kart series, and well I could keep going but I don't know if your talking about splitscreen games or online multiplayer. Most games nowadays I have found do not have that great of splitscreen titles anymore sadly.

Well, There LittleBigPlanet2, Puppeteer, and Any Mario Game. Thats all i can think of Right Now

Except the Mario Galaxy Series.

I don't think the multiplayer in that game was well integrated into the experience.

Super Mario 3D World is a blast to play with friends. So are any of the Mario Kart, Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, and Wii series games.

Oh, you have a Wii U as well?
