Lightning-flickr 214 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 EMO'S: known for the fact that they cover their arms up because they cut themselves. emo is short for emotional. these are kids who are emotionally challenged so they cut themselves to 1. get across their feelings 2. to get attention from people they feel they are being ignored by. PUNK: people who normally have crazy spiked up hair, they don't believe in government and wear leather jackets. they listen to agree music and were popular in the 80's but has since died down sparking the phrase "punk isn't dead" http://mlpforums.com...g-flicker-r5675 http://mlpforums.com/user/14906-royal-samurott/
Miss Light Diamond 2,802 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 I like the look but most goth people I've met are...kinda annoying. I've met a couple that are nice people and I'm friends with but most goth people...personality wise are kinda...I dunno. I like the look though. 1 Something something something something Ask me stuff...and all my OC's
Scarlet Letter 138 January 6, 2014 Author Share January 6, 2014 They can do whatever they want in my opinion. I will say that they are kinda strange though. Maybe for shock factor also. Zygen 6,066 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 I have no issue with them, i've had some cool friends who are goths actually. Nothing wrong with them, I think they're fine. I don't like to judge people based on things like that anyways. 1 Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! D1SC0RD 987 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 I don't really care about what people are into as long as they arent being a poser about it. Nothin' drives me more crazy than someone putting on a show for the public. But if being goth is legitimately their thing and they aren't doing it to seem dark n edgy and supa cool, then it's fine by me.
ReverseFaller 2,483 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 If somebody wants to be a Goth, then they should go for it. I don't really care what other people do. If that's their thing, then so be it. I know way too many people who judge others based off appearance, like they immediately assume goths are Satanic freaks. 1 Credit for the signature goes to Kyoshi
GrimCW 658 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 (edited) Are they cool or uncool? Do you find them awesome or creepy? Depends.. we talking the stereotyped bloody, depressed, satanist, grimdark, style? Or the actual human beings? I've known a fair chunk of actual goths, and literally they're pretty normal, a bit heavy on the realist views tbh. But most I've ever known were not depressing, blood obsessed, or actually believing the whole satanist thing. In fact, those that did have the pentacle items about usually had them just to annoy religious fanatics And one girl was always in black under normal circumstances, but if in a sad mood, she'd wear BRIGHT red... She was like a walking mood stone... Generally they're some of the nicest, and most trustworthy people you'll meet in my experience. But they deliberately take steps to keep people away. Much like with the Ponies, you'll find out who your real friends are real fast by whether or not they're willing to approach you when your dressed as such. Most people see a goth and ASSUME they're some sort of evil, sadistic, freak... They hardly are usually... Of course there are those that actually label themselves (a real goth generally won't accept labels. Even the goth one.) and pretend they are just because they think it looks neat... They are the untrustworthy ones ruining things for everyone else. ...for a fandom who's slogan "is love and tolerate" there is a lot of hate here No offense to you personally, but that fat lie of a slogan doesn't even apply to the show in any way, shape, or form aside from within your own friend circle (as per the show)... So I refuse to abide by, or acknowledge it as anything more than a blatant hoax that someone somehow weaseled into the fan base. It really needs to be stricken down, as it has given the fandom a horrible reputation with people expecting wishy washy individuals with no backbone.. its nearly impossible to actually follow any such slogan. Even many religions have claimed the same and do not follow through (Not as their basis, but as a functional part supposedly) Edited January 7, 2014 by GrimCW

Guest January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 I don't care either way. People may express themselves however but I think it's stupid when people label and call themselves things like that. It's been around since the 80's or even earlier, but you don't really see any 40 year old goths running around (unless it sustains their millionaire lifestyle, like Robert Smith of The Cure). 1 Regards, PlunderSteed Bassist, pianist, and backing vocalist for MLP-themed metal band Draconequus. Rokkurin 214 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Did you know that there once was a race of humans called Goths? They lived in the same time period as the Great Roman Empire. They were also a main cause for the fall of the Roman Empire too. So, i'm split. Which ones are we talking about? Either way, I'm cool with it. Fear the shadow, and all that dwell within. Klick-Klack 299 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Well alot of people love fitting into groups, and it's slightly missleading when dressing according to a particular groups theme is classified as portraying individuality. Same of course applies to emos and whatnot. It could be damaging to assume someones personality based on their appearance, no matter what they wear, so I don't personally link the concept of gothic style looking good to the actual people showing the style off. It's just another trend, but in its nature yeah I'd say it's alright.
Mio Akiyama 145 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Well I'm a punk, no not the ones with crazy mohawks and such. The more modern punk, some grow long-ish hair, some prefer to look clean. We wear band T-Shirts and only wear skate shoes like Vans and listen to any band that goes to Warped Tour. Anyways, it kinda depends on the goth. If they were pretty nice to me if I tried to engage in small-talk then I wouldn't have a problem. If they started dissing me because I'm a modern punk and diss my music and style and whatnot I'd turn around and walk away. Their music tbh is kinda strange at worst and unique at best, they wear wayy too much make-up and have the most standout hairstyles, and a lot of them are kinda socially awkward/not social at all. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just saying
Judgement 445 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 (edited) I'm a goth but I'm not full blown "cut-your-self-for-your-own-enjoyment!" lol. I may get quite a bit of hate from people for saying this: But I hate the sunlight, I love when it rains and when dark clouds absorb the entire sky, I like dark environments, I am pretty Negative when it comes to situations and events. I look at the glass as half-empty and I always take things too seriously. I have a poor sense of humor. I am antisocial, and to top it all off, I think about my life, like all the time. Now you might be thinking: "What the heck are you doing watching MLP: FIM!?!" but that is just the thing. Maybe if I got into a show about Friendship and Harmony then maybe it would help me be a friendlier person. My Ex-best friend was "EMO" as well and he used MLP as a life support. It would always bring him to school in a good mood. Though, my friend, HE REALLY DID cut himself. He was abused and I think that is what made him so dark. I myself was pretty positive until I got into middle school. Then everybody was just so mean (I'm in highschool now and they STILL ARE!), but that is a huge reason why I joined MLP forums, to have someone to talk to. I do prefer to be alone, but I DO have 1 or 2 close friends that I both can't talk to right now because they are busy -_-. I hope you guys can understand where I'm coming from, and please, don't judge! And about death, I really can't say much about that. I don't like death. I hate it. I am although constantly paranoid that it is right around the corner! I'm just fine though . Yup.... Not mental at all! (Insert Pinkie pie with a chainsaw here). I may also want to say that I got my Ex-best friend some serious help and I told the school that I went to that he was abused and they sent him to live with his mom. My true friend showed me one of his recent pictures and he isn't that gothic anymore, he is just a regular person, and he was even smiling in his picture! I should get in touch with him, and see if he is still a brony. My ex-best friend WAS an outgoing goth, which is kind of weird because he was more outgoing than a regular person even. That must have been the work of MLP. P.S. I too am against piercings. Why someone would want to ruin their skin like that is beyond me, but maybe piercings are their source for happiness. The reason I am so dark is because people (like my older sister) have made it their life goal to ruin my life goal. There. My 1800 character essay is finally over. Give me an A+ or else! I am not a smoker, and I DON'T cut myself, so I technically, by some of your standards, can't be classified as a Goth, Emo, or punk. I'm just an average Oddball then? Oh well. ChoroChii 284 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 They're just people to me. :l Some are probably whiny teens looking for attention, others might just like what the style looks like. *shrug* I don't really care. Pripyat Pony 2,608 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 I used to be labeled "goth" when I was a teen cuz I wore black, painted my face with black and white makeup, dyed my hair black, read Anne Rice and LJ Smith vampire fiction, and avoided people. In actual fact, my "goth" phase was also a time when I was going thru a dark place so I dressed accordingly. I never considered myself a goth as I didn't listen to gothic music. Now, I still get tagged as "goth" but I'm still not one. I'm a me. I have friends who are proper goths; they like gothic music and dress up sometimes. They had a fantastic gothic wedding where the bride wore a black velvet dress and the cake had black icing. It was awesome. One thing that annoys me are all the people who talk about cutting and self harm as tho it's something that goths do, for fun or attention. I used to self harm, and believe me, I didn't do it for that reason. I cut myself cuz I was deeply depressed (actual clinical depression, which is as far away from just feeling sad as cutting your finger is as far away from real injury as having your arm cut off) and couldn't express my feelings, so I cut myself to let the pain out and also to remind myself that I was alive, and hadn't died and was a ghost. I hate it when people say "She cut herself so she's a goth/emo" when it's nothing to do with that at all. 2 Signature and avatar by Pucksterv.
