Well I finished Dread, and I have to say it's my game of the year for sure, and one of the best games I've played in years.

Damn right. Felt like a blast of the past. Don’t remember a game this recent feel so..... classic. Hell, even the difficulty is pretty old school with later bosses. Thank goodness for the generous checkpoints tho :fluttershy:

  • 5 months later...

Now it's the metroid prime 4 waiting room... only news is retro studios changed their cover art on their socials. Still expecting something great from them.

Metroid Prime 3 was a decent game, but still a WII era downgrade. Considering how Nintendo is back on track these days, I have faith MP4 will be up to insane standards. Hell, I’m not as much of a fan of the classic 2D Metroid, and Dread blown me away. It’s been years since I had a final boss so complete like Raven Beak did

Have you played much of the 2D games?

I did play everything but Metroid Prime Pinball. I’m just more partial towards Prime, most likely because I began the franchise with Prime 1. In fact, MP is one of my top 3 games ever

You still agree that Super, Fusion and Zero Mission are phenomenal games though?

Can’t say much about Super. I did enjoy it, but only played it once so far. I suppose being used to the controls and movement of the GBA games did sour a bit the experience, as Samus in SM is a bit clunkier (using Game Cube controller didn’t help, I guess :scoots:). And I also had a blast with both Fusion and Zero Mission. Even having periods of clearing them daily as I could do so in less than 2 hours each :mlp_icwudt: (never did 100% AND little time tho)

I also played the original Metroid, both in Metroid Prime, and Zero Mission. Played Return of Samus for barely half an hour before leaving it due to the second area being comparatively massive, and the game ain’t poorly :scoots: (thank goodness for both the official and unofficial remakes tho :mlp_icwudt:)

@Steve Piranha You should go back to Super and play again. As much as I love Fusion and ZM, they lack the better connected world, pacing and ways to break, and in Fusion's case, is just too linear and harder to replay.

Yeah, Fusion doesn’t allow you to sequence break, but I did challenge myself sequence breaking as much as possible in ZM. I recall finishing it without the Long, Charge, and Ice Beams; High Jump, Power Grip, Varia Suit, and skipping Imago boss fight
