Pixel Ponies

Hello, My name is Jared and I've been a My little pony fan for about a year.

I collect everything MLP I can possibly get my hands on and LOVE to see MLP pictures, Especially pixel art.

 

I've started working on a pixel pony:

 

Nature~

 

 

Shiney Armor~

 

 

Blue~

 

Midnight~

 

 

 

 

 

"Sorry about the size I never could figure out how to make zoomable pictures on forums and this is the size I need it for my pixel art."

 

I was hoping and praying that I could get some advice to improve it and get people to post some other images of pixel ponies and tutorials, There's no such thing as too many posts or too much info, I'm obsessed with ponies!

Move the hooves a bit apart. They look really awkward. If you moved them a few pixels apart then the body and hooves look better.

You're new here? Nice to meet ya! I also do pixel art. Don't exactly have a tutorial. Pictures? sure, here's one! (did it even come up?)

Tips? Try using several shades of the same color. I'd also have to agree with @@Delernil,  The legs do look awkwardly placed.

How about instead of spreading the legs apart, widen the top of them, so they look more like let's instead of clubs...

Wow, you are absolutely awesome!

Your art is beautiful, I can only dream to be that good someday!

And yes, Pixel art is my favorite, I've been doing 3D graphics for 15 years but only been doing pixel art for a year, But it's always been my favorite!

 

I'm working on a game I want to put MLP's in is why my image is so small, it matches the character sizes, but it's hard to fit much detail in, do you have any suggestions? I might be able to increase the size a tiny bit, I would still like to learn to draw bigger ponies though because they can only get so beautiful with that little space.

 

For some reason my photo shop has been giving me a problem that no matter how I adjust the color only basic colors will draw, Which is why I haven't been able to attempt any shading, I might try using GraFX instead?

Yes, I did mean make them wider, but put them closer together again. (Kind of just seeing what it looks like here.) With them apart, the top of the legs seem too wide and go out the width of the body.


(By the way, would anyway care to create a pixel pony I could make in Minecraft? I've been trying to get good at pixel art in Minecraft, and it would be nice to have some practice.)

Hey KingPrisman, I made a small, feeble version of your white pony.

I'm not very good yet and I guess I need to step up to bigger resolution although it might not be usable at the normal size of my game, But I could try using engine scaling on them but it may cause Pixel problems, like destroying the line's from being correct pixel art lines such as shown at: http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299

Ah, yes.

I know its a horrible attempt, I just don't know what I'm going to have to do to make better ponies without going above that resolution, I may have to end up going above that resolution but I guess I need to master drawing them small and work my way up!

I created a new character "Blue" Above.

It looks like the ponies could be a little bigger and darker in the game?

They will be pets and there will also be ride able versions.

 

 

Any advice is very very greatly appreciated!

 

Even if it's to start all over, I really really want these ponies to be adorable and awesome in the game!

You mean OC's? I have 7 of them. I would need someone to pixel-ize their pictures so I can actually pixel-art them in Minecraft correctly. I've tried to do it with the Pony Creator images. 1. Takes too long. 2. THEY WOULD BE HUGE. Perhaps you or someone else could pixalize them for me?

Thanks for the list of ponies Immortal,

I posted a new OC called Midnight on the first post also, Still looking for suggestions and links to pixel ponies

I added an animated version of my micro pixel art OC, I could really really use some tips from the pro pixel artists out there, I learn best from experience so if someone could edit them correctly and post them here that would be awesome!

 

But if that's asking too much I'll gladly still just take tips!
