I won't say that this was like an above average episode.

One thing I do have to admire though as a Brony is that beautiful shot where the mane 6 are all standing next to each other. And who is in the middle standing with them? Derpy.

That's like a Brony dream shot right there.

Posibility and Potential are my two favorite words.

Er... perhaps I'm in the minority, but I'm not sure that I really cared for this episode.  It just felt... off.  The characters in particular seemed odd, with the exception of Fluttershy for some reason...  I liked the sort of sub-message of choosing not to choose isn't a choice at all, but other than that, I felt that it was pretty weak.

Don't get me wrong, I loved seeing Derpy again, Bulk Biceps was amusing, and seeing the three main Wonderbolts again is cool, but that doesn't make up for the fact that I found the story to be uninteresting.  I don't think it's a bad episode, I just don't think that it was particularly good either.

Did they forget that Twilight has wings? lol. She can be on Team Ponyville.

Oh you... never thought about that! xD

Well, overall this episode was WWHpLnB.gif

I had to stop a few times because it was too wtf, too pushed. But well, I liked the addition of Derpy. Sadly, it's the first episode that felt empty to me. (That feel when you finish a spongebob episode.) But well, while it's not their best, I guess it's not their worst, but still at the bottom to me.

I liked this episode quite a lot ...Hated that they added derpy I honestly think she should stay a background pony everyone loves, not one that starts to appear more  but that's just me being me...oh and I think we all know what the key for the box is!

My opinion of this episode has changed a bit, mostly around Spitfire as a character.

First off check out http://rainbowplasma.deviantart.com/journal/RP-s-Rant-Rainbow-Fails-427927920, as the following here was first a response to Rainbow Plasma's awesome post.

I was disappointed by Spitfire in particular acting like a jerk, I think because of seeing them through Rainbow Dash's eyes the Wonderbolts are heroes, but this is the third example of her falling way short of this idealized form.  First is at the Grand Galloping Gala where she, along with the other Wonderbolts, ignore Rainbow Dash whom they invited to hang with them.  Second at Wonderbolt Academy we see her encourage Lightning Dust to push the limits and then punish her for it.  Yeah I know, Lightning Dust risked lives and arguably had it coming, but Spitfire completely shirked her own responsibility in the matter.  This was the third incident where she showed how she treats others, in this case her friend and team mate Soarin, and the third Rainbow Dash gets to see what kind of pony she really is.  She's kind of a proven jerk, so I wonder what happens if she does this kind of thing again.  I'm hoping this isn't the real case, that Rainbow Dash teaching her a lesson gives greater meaning to Rainbow Dash joining the Wonderbolts, but I can't help but wonder about it just the same.  A potential better lesson about heroes than what was "Daring Don't" could be in the works.

Also, I'm kind of bothered by her initial reaction here.  "Rainbow Dash, you are something," she said, raising an eyebrow, staring directly at Rainbow Dash.  This wasn't the look of somepony who felt guilty for what they had done.  This kind of looked more like, "Is this cyan pegasus for real?"

Another note on a similar subject, kudos to Soarin for developing greater character in the short time he had this episode.  He went from being the "my pie!" pony to being the one who will assume the best of his supposed friends and always forgive them when they do fail him without hesitation.  He is the idealized Wonderbolt as far as I'm concerned.

Howdy all!

Another RD Episode in the books and its pretty neat.

Poor Dashie had a hard time on choosing the teams.

It worked out in the end.

Plus the return of Derpy as well.

(As long as Tabitha voices her again its OK with me)

Michael Dobson as Bulk Biceps is funny.

(Poor Flutters getting squashed by him a few times :( )

S4 is getting better and better with each episode.

See ya!

This episode wasn't good at all. The conflict was poorly written, Twilight's arguments for Rainbow staying on Ponyville's team were really poor, the scenes featuring Rainbow's "injury" were flat out stupid, and the Wonderbolts' motivations were poorly written all around. And there are some more minor complaints, like Bulk's sudden flying incompetence and Rarity's godawful uniforms, but those don't really matter much. This was the worst episode of season 4 so far.

I think the only things I really liked about this episode are Bulk Biceps (his personality and his lines) and Derpy's front-and-center reappearance.  Am I one of the only ones who LOVED Bulky and his quirks?   But while I love Derpy's grand return, I am wondering why they didn't use Twilight as a replacement.  Why give her wings if we never get to see her USE them?

This wasn't one of my favorite episodes simply because the plot was very cliche, and because it really seems like Rainbow Dash has to keep re-learning the same lessons over and over again.  For being the element of loyalty, RD's loyalty to her friends is called into question way too often.

Dear Celestia Luna? Diary, today I learnt that my heroes, the wonder-bolts are all (bar Soarin) complete douche nozzles who aren't actually that good. I also learnt that my element, 'honesty' must have disappeared when the elements went in that weird tree, because I still had wavering support for my team. Did I also mention that Pricess Twilight Acorna Sparcle (OEE (Order of equestrian empire), OofC (Order of Celestia),PhD Bmag) has no backbone and made very little attempt to help me make the right decision?

What can I say... every episode focused on Rainbow Dash competing, LOVE IT! This episode is not any less awesome! As soon as I saw they were going to a contest, I knew I could expect something similar to previous episodes with a competition. And some said it was too predictable - well, so what? We haven't seen an episode like that in a while, so that was cool!

The new place Rainbow Falls - I thought the title meant Rainbow Dash falls or he does something chaotic with an actual rainbow, now we know it's the name of the place. Very nice and beautiful with these animated rainbow creeks, really good looking!

The Biceps stallion was funny, indeed, and ofc Fluttershy was so adorable as usual in such episodes. Nice to see Derpy, even though I am not as hyped about her.

I really loved when Rainbow Dash put on the goggles and flew with Spitfire and Fleetfoot. Oh boy, RD was on a whole new level of COOLNESS! Flying with them - some part of me wants Rainbow Dash to be among them even if it meant to break the FRIENDSHIP! This whole part, no wonder Dashie is also from my very best amd most fave ponies!

Spitfire, I have forgotten how much of an antagonist she acts, I even thought she was gonna play evil and dirty in the episode. But the 2nd half surprised me, especially when in the end Spitfire gave her badge to Rainbow Dash and the way it ended with them congratulating each other, I thought it was gonna be an actual fight for the first place where we were gonna see Spitfire doing bad things to stop Rainbow Dash from winning

I even thought RD was gonna take the first place but they made the episode down-to-earth and it was based on just qualifying, not doing the impossible.

Well written episode, really from the best,  and I don't see what's all the critics about it, it's a series show not a 2 million $ movie afterall ;)

And like I said:  Some part of me wants Rainbow Dash to be among them even if it meant to break the FRIENDSHIP! Don't you think such a twist of the events would be interesting for MLP? I like RD even more now! In the below pic: Gained a NEW LEVEL OF COOLNESS!

Also, Twilight's statement that "You know, choosing not to choose isn't really a decision" seems like it could have been worded better or at least explained a little more. It seems to me that Rainbow Dash did make a decision, one that apparently would have resulted in neither Ponyville nor Cloudsdale having a qualifying team. I think the bigger issue is that rather than Rainbow Dash deciding to help one team and hurt the other team, she decided not to help either, which might have prevented animosity toward her, but hurt both teams. Maybe that would have been the better point to make.

because faking the injury was Rainbow's way of not making a choice! the choice was between teams. faking your way out would be the cowards way out.

That would be a total break from her element of Loyalty. so not going to happen. the main pony's may toy with breaking there element but when push comes to shove they will go back to there element. at least in Mlp anywy

I really like how they threw Bulky Bulk in there, I love it when they give characterization to the other villagers in ponyville. But there were also a lot of out of character moments, from both Rainbow Dash and the Wonderbolts. Still I liked the episode.

Also, I noticed that there were Griffons trying out, but no Zebras or other species competing. Hopefully, we'll get to see some more species at the pony olympics.

UPDATE: Just rewatched it, and my opinion has softened somewhat:

Snowflake's Bulk Biceps's name-change doesn't really bother me anymore (but it'll still take some serious getting used to). However, I still feel he should go back to being Pegasus!BigMac in terms of dialogue.

Spitfire at least seemed to learn her lesson at the end... But she was still OOC in the first place.

And RD's lesson...was still reused from Wonderbolts Academy; no change in opinion here.

I still say it's the worst episode of Season 4, just not with a burning passion anymore.

First of all I liked bulk biceps. I wonder if he will show up as a talking character more often now.

Second, Is Derpy still Derpy or did she get changed? Is that why she didn't talk at all.

Derpy is still Derpy (namely because of the derp-eyes), however it is highly unlikely that she will ever be named or have a speaking role again.  It would be really silly of the writers to try the same thing twice and expect different results.  While I like Derpy, I believe that such an action would result in a similar nuclear meltdown and would be an overall unintelligent decision.

Derpy! That is all.

But yeah another good episode I felt. At first I was annoyed with Spitfire's personality mainly because I expected better from her. But the end made it better.

It wasn't bad. Several characters felt off, and the moral was kind of thrown down dashes throat but... It's not the worst episode ever.

It gave good insight on Bulky Biceps (snowflake) personality, as a big softy, and possible Flutters love interest.

Derpy made an appearance. That always good.

That's my take...
