InvaderShy 18 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 Romance languages are Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Romanian. If you're a person who loves languages maybe you'd like to share what's your favourite(s) language(s) from Vulgar Latin and which one you'd recommend the most. So, what's your favorite Romance Language? Why?.
Scootalove 10,689 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 My favorite romance language that I like the most is, French because even when you don't understand what they are saying it just sounds romantic once you talk to them. The language I find more useful for me has to be, Italian because it is a language that is easier for me to understand than others. 1 Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Shanks 10,816 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 Italian without a doubt, part of it is my Dad's side of the family immigrated from Italy so it does have a bit of a nostalgic factor for me. And it is a beautiful language that has produced some truly great arias sung by the likes of Luciano Paviarotti and Andrea Boccelli. ReverseFaller 2,483 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 My favorite is Spanish because I can speak a little bit of it. I also like it because it has a nice sound to it when spoken. Credit for the signature goes to Kyoshi
Fluttershyfan94 5,742 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 (edited) None of them really, don't have a favorite but from those listed I'd choose French I don't like it though it's just because I've been told that I might have a French ancestry I don't believe it though but still that's reason enough to choose it Italian is cooler. None of them are more useful then the other, for business and life English is best. Shanks 10,816 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 for business and life English is best. In most places that is indeed true but English is actually a germanic based language despite the fact that it borrows quite a bit from latin and latin based languages along with nearly every other language on the planet (seriously English is such a depraved slut). For me personally since I live in Southern California the most useful of the romance languages to me is Spanish even though as I have said earlier Italian is my favorite. Southern California is very very close to the US-Mexico border so um yeah I think you know where I am going with this. 1 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

True but I still don't see any use for the romance languages except Spanish and even so I don't have an interest in learning it. Many people learn Spanish and French here, I decided to take German instead. Since English has quite a few latin related words I'll just use that as the reason for why I choose it rather then some romance language. UserNotFound 964 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 I love Italian, I'm desperate to learn it, I love Italy so much! I also like how French sounds... Very elegant However the language I know best is Spanish, since it is the language I have learned throughout school so those three 1 .
Squeaky Clean 33 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 French just sounds romantic when you speak it. Spanish is practical, convenient, and fairly easy to learn. I mean, just the other day, I was playing a video game with a girl who only knew Spanish, making me glad I'm taking Spanish class. So yeah, it's helpful to learn a different language, and Spanish is the one I picked. Thanks to a jewel of rarity for making my signature! Golurk 468 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 Je parle francais, et je l'utilise souvent. (I speak French, and I use it often). For me, it goes back to my family history, which is most directly French. I plan on going to France some day, and I'd like to have l'experience authentique. Seems most respectful to my family and its origins. Not to mention, while the Americas are predominantly Spanish/Portuguese, French is a common language nearly everywhere else. 2nd most spoken, behind English. It's a good skill to have. Indeed. Sir Fluffernutter 435 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 French, definitely. It's a damn beautiful language. You could say just about anything and it'll sound nice. Je suis un avocat. I just called myself an avocado and it sound better than English. Not to mention, it's a popular language, so it's pretty useful. The only real bad thing is how confusing the numbers from 70-99 are. 1 click here
Shift 4,272 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 Italian, it always sounded pretty to me. Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey.
Dsanders 5,747 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 French would have to be my favorite romantic language. It's beautiful sounding and has a really nice flow with words, especially if you manage to get the accent down. However, I would definitely have to say Spanish is the most useful. It's much more common and it's frequently spoken around here in southern California. Plus my girlfriend's first language was Spanish. I've been recently wanting to learn the language for a while. I never used to like Spanish. In fact, I used to hate it. But I guess witnessing it being spoken from my girlfriend firsthand enlightened my interest. Hopefully I can get some more time to practice speaking it soon.
SparklingSquirrels 21,341 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 (edited) French, without a doubt. Je parle just un peu Francais! I took it in school; French sounds so pretty, and it flows so nicely. I voted for Spanish on the second one. Spanish seems like it's the second-most spoken language in the US, but I don't know any of it. Most of the people in my school took Spanish, but I never thought it sounded all that great to me. ~Silver Essence~ 2,625 January 22, 2014 Share January 22, 2014 French is the obvious choice, but I'm not going to lie when I say that spanish sounds pretty sweet too. As for my common language, it's english and spanish, english for outside, work, and friends, and spanish for family members and natural heritage. Judgement 445 January 23, 2014 Share January 23, 2014 French is the most suthing, but I'm in the western hemisphere so spanish is probably the most useful. Unless I go to Quebec. Tom V.S. Boulder: Who will win?
~Master~ Button Mash 2,307 January 23, 2014 Share January 23, 2014 (edited) Italian. But as an Italian American, I am biased. xD For everyday language, English, so "None of the above." I haven't needed to use my Spanish as much as I expected, after HS. Celtore 2,770 January 23, 2014 Share January 23, 2014 I really don't bother with any of those languages, but I'll vote French for my my awesome neighbours in Quebec. It's also the only language on that list I've had some past experience with.
Thrashy 2,800 January 23, 2014 Share January 23, 2014 (edited) I'm gonna have to go with Spanish by default, since it's the only one I have any basic understanding of. I can read/write it just fine, speak it quite shakily, but I can't understand a single word of spoken Spanish because native speakers of any language are freakin' motormouths. I do have interest in one day delving into Italian and Romanian, though...have pretty cool orthographies and phonologies. Portuguese always kinda seemed like a watered down version of Spanish, and as for French, forget about it. No deal...sounds way too uppity to me, and the spelling/pronunciation rules have little to no consistency. :comeatus: Edited January 23, 2014 by Lowline Champ
Wingnut 6,990 January 23, 2014 Share January 23, 2014 I studied Spanish as my second language in school. It's also very practical to know in a city like mine. In my line of work, I handle a fair amount of Spanish correspondence so a cursory knowledge comes in handy. Spanish is the most beautiful of the Romance languages to me but Italian is a close second. I sometimes see people speaking it in South Philly and I've had a couple of fascinating online contacts in Italy.
