I really enjoyed the episode, but for fucks sakes, the wilhelm scream, AGAIN! For a snake monster! Why? Why do they keep pointlessly using that sound effect? It's gone LONG past the point where it was funny and now they're just shoehorning it in for the sake of it it seems. I almost feel like starting a petition to stop the wilhelm screams from being used in this show anymore.

 

 

Weird thing to complain about, I've never even really noticed the Wilhelm Scream in this.

 

Anyway, my opinions on the episode;

 

This may shock you to the core, but I think this episode was just... okay.

 

And I'll admit, Discord's role in this episode is actually one of the reasons i don't like this episode as much as previous Season 4 episodes.

 

Let me elaborate; when I first saw Discord in the Return to Harmony 2-parter, I actually didn't like him, and please hear me out before you call blasphemy on me (if any of you were planning to).

 

No disrespect to John De Lancie, I know he's great actor and the way he voiced Discord helped make the Draconequus' scenes tolerable even when he does something I didn't like, but when I saw Return to Harmony, Discord felt (at the time) to me like he was a Villain Sue with how he easily took away the Elements of Harmony and defeated the Mane 6 (his failed attempt to talk Fluttershy into being 'discorded' was funny though), I know he's meant to be looked upon as a bigger threat than Nightmare Moon, but I'm pretty sure you can do this in a way that feels more balanced.

 

On the other hand, I actually LIKED Discord when he appeared in Keep Calm and Flutter On and in the Season 4 Premiere, I found his scenes genuinely funny and I kept looking forward to what he was gonna do next.

 

But in Three's a Crowd, actually found him being more annoying than funny half the time, the way he seems to act slightly like a drama queen about his 'sickness' didn't help much, and the way he goes out of his way to make it so Twilight and Cadence are the ones taking care of him, especially knowing what they were up to beforehand, made me see him less as a funny anti-hero and more of a manipulative a-hole despite being reformed, he still had some funny moments here and there, but half the time he seems to act so much of a pain to Twilight and Cadence that I was almost afraid this was some elaborate scheme of Discord to get away with something malicious. I probably would've liked this better if Discord did a more convincing job with his fake sickness, like pretending his powers have weakened from him being sick or something.

 

Though I did like how karma started crashing down on Discord with how the giant worm actually managed to genuinely get him sick, which does show that he has more vulnerabilities than just the Elements of Harmony, which I think says a lot about his species as a whole, and makes me want to see more of Discord if only to learn more about his kind.

 

Plus, I bet now Twilight's thinking; "We may not have the Elements of Harmony anymore, at least if Discord causes trouble again, we know we can simply sic a giant worm at him."

 

I guess the gist of it is this; I like Discord when he's written in a way that makes him feel more balanced as a character, and when he's not, I find merely tolerable at best.

I'm so in love with Princess Twilight, especially when she actually uses her wings. She's almost as tall as Cadance now, which is interesting.

I think this is my least favorite Discord episode. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as the other draconequus' episodes.
 

I think for this episode, Discord was just off his game. Not as hilarious as usual... Perhaps he really was sick!!!

Forgot to mention this earlier, but thanks to this episode we now know that apparently Pinkie was born on a Tuesday... I feel much more fulfilled and enlightened for knowing this.  -_-

 

Oh, and perhaps I should've clarified; for all my ribbing of that stupid little Flash Sentry cameo, I got a laugh out of it more than anything.  Yeah I don't like the guy, I just think he's boring and needless, but it was fun poking fun at his appearance more than anything for me.  Anyone who actually let THAT ruin the episode for them, yeah, they're stupid, that's bucking ridiculous.  :okiedokielokie:

Please. No more Discord. Not for at least 10 episodes.

 

It's possible to have too much of a good thing. I love Discord as much as the next fan, but he's being overused at this point. Once per season should be the limit. Him appearing over and over just makes the show feel like it's given up. Instead of introducing new interesting characters and expanding on the show's world and story, re-using Discord like this just stifles everything.

 

His song was good, but it felt almost like the entire episode was built around it as an excuse for it to exist. It was like a roof on a house with no walls.

 

I was feeling really positive at the beginning of this season. There was a story arc, some driving motivations, clues along the way. This episode just felt like filler, it went nowhere and advanced nothing. There wasn't really any good humour in it.

 

Also, Rainbowdash bailing on the others seemed ridiculously out of character. I hope she felt guilty when she heard about Applejack and Rarity being turned blue while she wasn't there for them.

Oh and that was a Beetlejuice sandworm, not a Dune sandworm.

I loved the episode.

 

Cadence reappears, brings her guard to tease Twilight, (as well as the majority of the fans as well.) Discord shows up and instantly does his thing. Pinkie, though always a little sporadic was just too far gone. Dash always seems to have a hard problem keeping with her element. Shame on Twilight for not ever visiting her friend. Where does Discord live, I'm curious now.

 

Discord sings, doubt it will hold a candle to what may happen in a week. 

 

Long adventure, I think nearly pointless, but Discord has a True True Friend.

Erm, aren't breezies those pony fairies from g3? That aside, I think this episode was very good. It was very fun and I especially liked that creature at the end. I wasn't too fond of Discord's song but that is only a minor complaint. It was nice to see Cadence when, I quote, the fate of equestria isn't hanging in the balance.

Personally, I liked this episode! I hadn't really looked forward to it, but it's definitely one of my favorites of season 4. It had a lot of laughs and a lot of references, which I love. One of my favorites was the Harry Potter reference in the middle of Discord's song. Plus, it was also had Flash Sentry. I had missed him, so it was good to see him- even if it was just to tease us fans for a short few seconds. 

Also, Flutters and the Breezies... Is the episode 'It Ain't Easy Being Breezies' going to coincide with this episode like 'Games Pony Play' and 'Just for Sidekicks' did?

Just finished watching it again. Another bit of info found.

 

Toilets actually confirmed. During Discord's song, one of the houses falls to pieces, and you clearly see a pony that looked like they just got done taking a shower standing next to what is clearly a toilet. So ponies just don't have outhouses, they have indoor plumbing as well.

This episode was interesting. I wasn't expecting it to end with a lazer beam fight scene but it was cool. Discord was Discord and while some might be worried he is getting overused, I don't think it has reached that point yet. In fact I support growth for other characters as much as possible. Anyway I think disliking the episode over Flash is silly. I can sort of agree with people that it wasn't very loyal of RD to bail like that. But it didn't really bother me. I will say though I felt Pinkie's randomness might of wen't a little too far. Now it seems you just need to show her a balloon to get her mind to change.

And toilets are canon! Poor Bon Bon... I think I also saw a shower head there but not sure.

My gods, season four has been great already but this...Wow.

- Blue Discor- BLUE APPLEJACK AND RARITY?!

- "Can someone get me a fainting couch?" - Best callback of the entire series, right there.

- Fluttershy and Discord are pen pals? I know he's still a chaotic trickster but AWWWWW, THAT IS THE CUTEST THING EVER!

I do love that Discord's reformation didn't kill his penchant for mischief and generally trying to screw with everybody. :3 Screw magic, friendship is emotional blackmail and manipulating favors. XD But that's not a very catchy series title.

 

...I almost forgot. DISCORD SINGS AND IT IS THE GREATEST THING EVER! It sounded strangely like some of Jack Skellington's songs in Nightmare Before Christmas...And is Discord riding a monkey? ALL OF MY APPROVAL.

 

And to people saying RD bailing was disloyal: Loyalty applies to friends, not reluctant and suspicous acquaintances.

And what is with people thinking she has to be loyal all the time for eternity anyway? RD is not loyalty incarnate. She can be disloyal. All the element means is that once loyalty is established, it will take a very great deal to make her break it.

A very great deal such as the allure of training with her idols and being part of a famous team in a high-profile competition...Oh hey, that happened, didn't it? Huh...

I thought the breezies(or whatever) was supposed to be an episode title? I'm possibly wrong, I've tried to avoid any spoilers. Are we going to get to see what Fluttershy was up to at some point/next week? *shrug*

 

Annyway, I don't much like discord (compared to some others at least). I think I'll say this is my favourite episode with him in it though. I also like the Twilight and Cadence team. We need more Cadence were it doesn't involve being a ruler or her being the one who needs saving.

 

The song. Fitting for Discord but not something I'd go out of my way to listen to.

 

Don't know what to say other than I found it rather enjoyable. Nothing boring/slow and nothing really amazing/stand out. Liked the laser fight with the plant/spice worm thingum though

Watched it today. I love seeing Cadence! I especially liked the part where she and Twilight went up against that serpent thing. Cadence has seriously been the most useful pre-princess twilight princess thus far. And I KNEW Discord wasn't going to actually be sick. XD

This episode was fantastic. My husband and I were laughing the whole way through.

 

I saw Flash Sentry and went, "Yay!" Makes sense for him to be there, after all he is one of Cadance's royal guards. Perhaps he volunteered to escort her to Ponyville so that he could see Twilight? :3

 

Discord was just awesome. He never leaves me disappointed.

 

Although I will say that if Discord would have been trolling me like that for the sake of testing our friendship, I would have been more upset that he manipulated me into doing all that, because friends don't test friends, and he wasn't being a very good friend by doing that. But it is Discord and he is still learning about how this "friendship" thing actually works. And he did get sick from the worm at the end, so that was his punishment for being manipulative. I just have issues with people manipulating others to do things for them for whatever reason so for me personally it would have been nice for that to be mentioned out loud.

 

But that is just nitpicking. Not a real issue that I have with the episode. This one is my favorite so far this season.
