What's with all the CMC hate? The fillies are adorable. Bad enough 'Belle's gonna be as bad as her sister looks wise.

In S1 they were annoying, but they're great in S2, S3 and S4. In S2 they had Confidential which was a great episode, S3 had One Bad Apple which wasn't really a crusading episode, and in S4 they had Flight to the Finish wasn't exactly a 'Crusade' episode. We're also getting the episode Twilight Time which looks like it won't be too crusade-y.

 

So I think they should stay, but I won't mind too much if they get their marks.

On one hand, it's becoming one of those storylines that's been so dragged out people won't care anymore.

But on the other, once they have their marks, what exactly can the writers DO with them???

Now, everypony has a different way of thinking so this is some ideas I have with them.

 

There could be some episodes focusing on Rarity trying to get Sweetie into the musical business. Scootaloo is a perfect pairing for Rainbow Dash, because they're both atletic however Scoots can't fly (yet) so it would be really cool to see her doing daring tricks with her scooter. I don't know what to think of Applebloom, on one side she hinted that she is a great artist, but on the other hand she's an apple and it's predictable that she should be doing something related to her family.

 

 

 

Stare Master is the only episode I didn't enjoy much the first time I watched it. Fluttershy's exasperation became my own. Felt so tired by the time the episode ended. Hasn't been a problem with subsequent viewings. Maybe because I already knew how things were going to turn out.

I actually liked Stare Master quite a lot because of the beginning with Rarity and Sweetie but also while they were annoying to Fluttershy the whole time, that was the purpose of the episode and the dialogue between them was very childish yet clever. The crusading thing was comencing since it was in season 1 so it was bearable.

Enough crusading? Nah, I personally don't think so. I can't say I've ever found them annoying, maybe that's because there is another pony that gets too much attention that I find way more annoying. Especially this season with all the fan service. At this point with her antics in recent episodes and today's topping the cake, I'll gladly take a CMC episode. Would love to see another sort of like Sleepless in Ponyville, but watching them completely ignore what they are good at while trying stupid stuff is fine by me. They'll get their marks eventually I'm sure, and then we either won't see them much anymore or we'll see them performing their talents. It all works for me just so long as it isn't dragged out till the very end of the series.

I wouldn't mind if they did a few more. However I do agree that at least one of them should have gotten their cutie marks by now, I mean come on how can they not realize .-.

Funny enough, I don't even remember the last time an episode that was strictly them trying some harebrained thing of them trying to get their marks. Last time they actually did something like that was as a side plot to get them involved in a Spike episode, Just for Sidekicks. Actual CMC episodes have been doing different things. Any recent ones have focused on things like their response to bullying, Scootaloo's need for an older role model and her insecurities about flight, and haven't really dealt with their Cutie Marks at all.

 

Bottom line is, their being blank flanks doesn't seem to be something that's holding their episodes back at all, to me. It's clearly intended to teach the value of patience, maybe even to the audience as well . Their getting them will be a big and triumphant moment, and worth whatever wait we have to go through. I'm completely cool with waiting until the last couple episodes.

Ok, you are SERIOUSLY overgeneralizing these episodes.  It wasn't the focus of any of the episodes centered around just one CMC like Sleepless in Ponyville, which even showed all of them, not once mentioning cutie marks, it was mentioned in One Bad Apple, but wasn't really the focus, it was kinda what they were doing in Ponyville Confidential, but again, that wasn't what the plot was REALLY about, it was mostly a plot device.  There was none of this in Flight to the Finish, until the end, but even that was just a short gag.

I enjoy the CMC and pretty much all of their episodes, I feel that they shouldn't have more than 3 episodes per season and they should be spaced out properly, but other than that I feel that they give another story 'arch' to follow and provide a good message to people ("Enjoy your youth" "You can do anything" "Try to make friendships that last" etc...) I understand where people are coming from though as their story 'arch' can get pretty stale and old.

Yay unfortunately the cutie mark crusaders not having their cutie mark leaves them in a state of not developing as much as they should

Their only goal at the moment is to obtain their cutie mark and that's it. It was fun for a season and maybe a bit of season 2, but now it's too predictable.

I'd they get their cutie mark's this would give them a new challenge.

And that is what's next?

I mean for Doo long they wanted their cutie mark so at the point that they do get it they have to wonder what to do next. And it at this point where they would develope even further than they already have.

CMC try to do a mentoring aspect where they are taken under the wing of another pony and they try their hoofs at the job for a bit. Twilight Sparkle tries teaching Sweetie Belle some magic spells.

CMC try to be masseuse. It has an odd moment when they start talking about the girl's flank and cutie mark while massaging her.

CMC win a contest at school that lets them go to Canterlot to spend the entire day with Celestia and Luna. Sweetie Belle goes to the library and tries a forbidden magic spell.

CMC read the magical comic books and go into them.

I suppose it does get a little old. Maybe if the CMC actually slowed down and looked at themselves, they'd find their marks faster.

 

There should be an episode about them actually having a logical discussion about what a cutie mark is, so they can discover that they need to look at what they're already good at.

 

Twilight dropped the hint and they still didn't get it, though... so...

 

Besides, the suspense is killing me. I'm a bit tired of seeing all the fans' ideas of the CMC's cutie marks. The writers should come up with them and end this thing! Who says we need the CMC to be crusading for cutie marks to be as adorable as they already are?

I must put my hoof down.

 

Imagine these 3 without this "oh so boring arc of getting a cutie mark". They return from some of the most drawn, ficed and beloved characters of the series (at least on the filly end of age) and go right back down to being. Raritys youngers sister. AJ's younger Sister. And some parentless but adopted younger sister to Dashie.

 

Allow me to slow this down. If you take away the REASON we fell in love with these 3, THEY-LOSE-THERE-DYNAMIC!

 

Name me one reason past say them showing up in shots with no dialogue (ala pinkies pride). They will become full background ponies, that we might catch Fluttershy looking for Rainbow one day and seeing her talking to Scoots who prompty leaves the camera angle as the "real ponies" get to character acting.

 

I get it, you guys and gals are tired of the "CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS -insert topic- HOOO!". But my return question is, why?

 

We haven't seen a CMC adventure episode since S3, and there only big showing in Season 4 was written by the writers FOR US so we can stop going on about how clearly handi-capable Scootalo is!!! Which had nothing to do with CMCing! (Also I can understand the love for a broken character, we are all broken in someway so we relate, but darnit where is the AB and Sweete love!!!!)

 

Long rant short, give them there cutie marks and prepare for what all of you do NOT WANT...THREE NEW BACKGROUND PONIES!!!! Oh golly gee! Really? Well lets just forget any need or fun from AB when we have Apple Family episodes, and Celestia forbid we get some reasoning for SB to be around Raritys boutique anymore. And the beloved scootalo? Psshhhhh, get ready for shots of her scooting on by the paning camera and we can point and squee and have a new Derpy!!!

 

Let the foals be foals, let them play, let them SING! There music rocks! And just let them be young and hungry for adult hood. Stop being such an adult yourself, at one point you where screaming to be grown up. Well now you are, and your being rather rude to the younglings.
