Is Twilight becoming hated?

I keep on seeing these arguement all over the net. this fandom seem to have turned their backs on Poor Twitwi because of her new wings.

 

What are your thoughts on this bandwagon?

Well I mean Twilight is best pony. It's close, but ya' know. Bros're just jelly.

 

Really though...eh, I think it's just backlash against the whole alicorn thing. I kinda get it and I do agree they should have been so much more considerate when it comes to that aspect of the story. Like, they needed to put ten times more thought into it than they did...but it's not like it has really damaged Twilight's character more than just a teensy bit.

I wouldn't necessarily say she's becoming hated, since most of those arguments have been used against it a lot depending on which sites you go on. As for the whole alicorn thing, it's mostly just people whining around about not liking it or just not liking the way it's been handled. It's a stupid bandwagon, if you ask me. Twilight is a great pony, with or without wings.

I've spoken with some people who have made some legit arguments against Twilicorn, but hated? Nahh.

 

For most people, it's just a bandwagon thing, and she's become an easy target for people who want to use a mane 6 for a punching bag, as senseless as that is, given they're all 6 great characters

And I dunno about "NO MOAR TWILIGHT EPISODES" given we've barely seen any of her this season. I'm personally sick of RD episodes, but that's a different topic.

I've been seeing a lot of Fluttershy hate, though, myself; I'd say she's become the one to take Rarity's place as the fandom's mane 6 punching bag, not Twilight (no matter who it is, disliking a mane 6 member is just stupid. They're all great characters )

The only thing I find wrong with princess twily is that no one treats her as a princess. She's treated as a normal pony but all the other princesses have been showed much more respect. But then again. I haven't seen cadence receiving to much respect either. And the ruling sisters seem to be irrelevant to the plot after twilight stopped writing letters and starred journaling. I say hasbro has to take the term "princess" and actually use it for what it's for.

I think what you're seeing has become really just something of a phase the fandom's going through.

 

Sure, I bet there are still fans crying in outrage over what happened to Twilight, but nowadays it seems to be few and far between, the rest of us don't let the whole Twilicorn thing bother us (made easier when the dev team and Season 4 confirmed most the things many of us thought would happen actually won't happen) , or at very least not let the change ruin the entire show for us.

 

though the bottom line is; no, Twilight's not becoming hated, I think we just now have a minority of fans who seem to now like showing themselves to be impossible to please just because things in the show aren't going the way they want it.

Hated? Not really. Some people recently like mindless hatred towards something (I talk about bronies and MLP of course) and unfortunately Twilight is good target for them after she became an alicorn. Or they are simple trolls. Anyway I advise just to ignore it. Mostly last example. She is far from idiot.

I wouldn't say "hated." As it's already been stated, it's mostly just folks not digging her sudden alicorn status. Personally, I think she's awesome, and the addition of wings made her that much more awesome. If nothing else, I'd say she's been kinda UNDERappreciated this season, considering she's now royalty.

   I think some fans just can't put up nor shut up, so Twilight Sparkle has wings, and is a alicorn princess, so they look past the fact most the characters are colourful ponies, living in a magical land, yet can not see that the characters have transcended to our reality. Now to be fair, I have seen this resentment to other mane six ponies too, even Fluttershy has given the reticles of fan complaints too, and she was voted fan favourite pony by fans on the Hub, for Pete's sake people lighten up, don't ruin other bronies fun with your pedantic rantings, on character flaws and how that fits into a story. Twilight Sparkle is a great pony and I will continue to defend her status, from critical and belligerent remarks and comments about her and the other mane six, although love and tolerance is an blasé and clichéd statement, maybe this time apply it, so you can feel with unbiased opinion how spectacular each pony is, regardless of the positive and negative frivolity each character possess, then at last the few fans that complain would be clamoured off, and we can enjoy art for art's sake.

I don't mind twilight I find her OCD endearing. And her being a princess/ Alicorn is logical progression since the show is pitched and described as twilight-centric. She is technically the MAIN (also mane) character. While she is not my favorite pony (guess which one is...) sometimes I forget that this Fandom like many other fandoms have a lot of fans who love to complain about everything no matter how stupid. You are right. I shouldn't let this ruin my fun.

I'm not seeing Twilight hate yet. I am seeing a lot of frustration with the writers being unwilling or unable to address issues with various characters, with Twilight being one of the big ones on that list. But that's not the same thing, really.

The first three episodes of season 4 were Twilight episodes, but that's about it so far. Quite different than the "Twilight Sparkle half-hour" the anti-Hasbro crowd were predicting the show would become. Not that I woulda minded that...

People don't like change, and when a change that they know they can't control happens they begin to bitch about it, because obviously moaning will change things. However, on the obverse of things, I have noticed more and more people finally accepting that Twilight Sparkle has wings and a formal title now. Which should have happened last year. Two months after the damn episode. Not a year later. There still are those people who refuse to let go, though...

No, I don't believe Twilight is becoming hated at all at least not to the extent the OP suggests. Yes there are some people that do hate Twilight, but it is not so much that people hate Twilight as it is that people hate twilicorn. Granted the twilicorn hate has calmed down but it is still there, but hating twilicorn and hating Twilight are two very different things. One thing I have noticed in the whole twilicorn controversy is that the loudest voices both for and against tended to be fans of Twilight Sparkle. Opponents including me felt that the change was too soon, handled poorly and Magical Mystery Cure episode was an insult to a great show and a great character but most of us didn't hate Twilight than and don't hate her now. I have since become neutral on that matter but so far nothing has sold me yet, but I am much more optimistic than I was previously.
