Though I'm a Smith fanboy, Tennant is one of my favorite Doctors, so it was very sad. I remember crying a bit when I first saw it. Regardless I don't think it was one of the best regeneration scenes ever, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Christopher Eccleston and Matt Smith's regeneration scenes were the best in my opinion.

I finally got to see this not too long ago since Netflix finally got around to uploading Tennant's final episodes. I loved Eccleston, but Tennant was even more fun. You could just tell he enjoyed himself and I've always enjoyed things he has been in prior to Dr Who. The ending though, how he hopped around basically saying bye to everyone he met in his journeys, definitely got me right in the feels. Then they toss this regeneration at you! Talk about kicking you when you're down.

 

And then I was like... no, go away Smith.

I was one of the few people...who didn't like it.

 

It ruined Ten's character. Completely. He went from me loving him to me liking him with that episode.

 

Sure, it tugs at the heartstrings, but you know what? I think Tom Baker's regeneration is sadder. And so is Davison's. And McGann's. and Smith's.

 

Overall, I think this was a very poor ending for Tennant's Doctor. It didn't fit in with his personality.

 

(One could argue that he was feeling this way due to The Waters of Mars, but considering how quickly he recovered from previous finales...)
