Thoughts on moderators.

Meh dont think feld0 is QUITE god. Although he does a good job of controling and handling problems around here we dont need to worship him! The worst is when some one is treated that way when they are trying to be a friendly community member instead of a terribad dictator. *has experienced it*

Okay, so maybe he isn't a God, but he certainly does deserve a lot of praise for the hard work he puts in to this place, especially given that he also runs Wii U forums and is working on Pony.fm as well, not to mention that he's only 16.

Heey i never said dont give him credit! He has done an amazing job for some one his age and has quite a vast knowledge of problems and troubleshooting. Not to mention being frequent in multiple places you have power and influence on is tough!

Lol i know feld0 is pretty awesome but we need to keep in mind he may not like being treated like a person of extreme power instead of a fellow friend. There are lots of stories about that actually. :3

Haha! I know your joking. Feld0 most certainly does deserve a lot of credit and praise but not so much that people treat him like god. (Which i have seen elsewhere.)

I'll be honest. When I first saw this topic, I thought, 'There is NO way this topic is going to stay open.'. And this is why I'm not a moderator on any of the major forums.

 

In all honesty, I think the mods and admins here have been really fair. I can't think of anything off the top of my head they've done that I didn't agree with. They also tend to be pretty helpful. If a topic's in the wrong spot, they'll move it. They're not rude (unlike some other boards I've been on). And they don't act like they have an ego (unlike every Digimon fan forum in existence). I mean, how can you beat that?

 

The message board is nice and streamlined too, unlike the big Pokemon boards where it takes an hour searching through numerous sections just to find out if a topic's been posted or not (message boards that do this, you know who you are). This site we have what, 12 sections? Four have to do directly with ponies. The rest are just general or technical topics, or forum games. I don't think you can get more streamlined than that.

 

So yeah, overall I really can't complain, because there doesn't really seem to be anything for me to complain about.

The board rules are not absolute - meaning, just because we do not explicitly prohibit something does not mean you should be doing it. Generally, if you post content that disrupts the community or makes it less enjoyable for everyone else, said content will be deleted regardless of whether we explicitly disallow it or not.

 

For instance, we do not actually prohibit swearing. However, if every other word you type is the F-bomb, you can't honestly be expecting to get away with it. The rules are not a replacement for common sense and good judgement, and members who deliberately try to find loopholes in them or otherwise slide around authority will likely be penalized for it.

 

Yes, I understand that, but the topic we were discussing before (in the chat) that had to get stopped was piracy, I understand that it is illegal and probably should not be discussed, just the fact that it was discussed before and no mention of it being against the rules. I know that MLPforums does not endorse piracy, and the people I was discussing with weren't like even posting links and what not, its just there was no mention, or even hint about it before in the rules, but I find it perfectly reasonable that it was stopped.

Well this topic has prooved from multiple perspectives that the mods are respected, logical AND involved in the community very well! They have always been polite, and help you when you ask for it. For favorite mod, i'm gonna have to say Zoop for his chat-lurking and maiking those short, sweet messages in the chat.

The mods here are not only mods, but active community members as well. I really like that. On most forums I've been to, most mods seem quite distant from the community, only policing the forums and posting only when they must.

he's extremely wary about drunk-night experiences like this ever since he got me pregnant, so he kinda decided to cut contact with the involved people in said experiences in ways like this. he really, REALLY don't want to make more people pregnant while drunk.
