Should Nightmare Rarity replace 'good' Rarity?

If you've read my previous posts you'll know that Rarity is not my favorite character. In fact I find her downright annoying. Nightmare Rarity on the other hand I have to say has grown on me. In fact I'm considering making her my waifu!

Unofficial cannon is more like it. Fannon is made by the fans. The comics are a step above that (official merchandise) but by no means replacing what the show has done. Clearly Nightmare Moon has two completely different origin stories (the show's and the comic's). It's really up to people which they choose as being the one they subscribe to (although technically the show takes precedence).

 

Comics are you goofing on cannon...

 

 

But no replacing regular Rarity with Nightmare Rarity is a really dumb idea and there's no reason for putting a superpowerful villain as one of the mane 6.

Rarity is a lovable, excellent character the way she is. She's got one of the, if not the, most fiercely loyal fanbase(s) of any pony, and that wouldn't be the case if she were truly awful as you say she is.

 

Now, second, Nightmare Rarity wouldn't fit into the show too well; I'm not NMR's biggest fan, but I will say that she isn't a good show idea objectively. Rarity has an equally important role just as much as the other 5 of the mane 6; without her, that dynamic between them would be gone. She brings that feminine, creative, and classy feel to the group; just like the other 5 do to make the mane 6 have that group effect that they do. NMR wouldn't be a part of the mane 6; effectively killing their group dynamic. Also, as a villain, she'd have no real use past her comic arc, which was effectively used up by the end of her reign of fabulous terror in the comics; which, by the way, was based around her being the real, good-hearted Rarity from the show that we all know and love deep down inside that dark exterior.

 

Also, I'd like the point out, and excuse me for being blunt here, that you provide no logical, rational, or even reasonable...er, reasons for feeling the way you do about Rarity; everything you said yesterday was dismissed by nearly everyone as a misinterpretation of her character, and I see no good reasons being given here. I'm sorry, but your opinions will hold little water when you provide them  in this fashion.

 

 

And no, Nightmare Rarity is not official canon in the slightest.

I'll differ based on the facts we've already seen a nightmare arc in the canonical series and the comics were made for bronies, while the show is still for all ages; a doubly recycled storyline, which would be a bit boring, and there'd be likely no place for some of the elements found in the comics that would be acceptable for the main series.

I'd use the term "ambiguously canon". I can't find it now, but I remember an interview with one of the writers, and they gave a sort of non-answer to whether or not it's canon: It's canon if you want it to be.

4. IS IT CANON? The comic is set within show continuity, and is done in cooperation with the show staff. This is as close to the show as it gets without having it animated. I personally say yes, but it is really up to the individual to decide.

Which doesn't mean it's official; I believe wholeheartedly in my Rarity headcanon, it makes the show that much more more interesting for me Now, my headcanon is essentially nothing more than my personal fanon, and it isn't something that could be universally accepted as fact.

 

Now, that being the case, NMR isn't concrete canon like, say, Rarity being a fashion designer, and stuff like that. Given it could be accepted as either canon or not, that makes it fanon.

 

Since, it's fanon, it's not official canon.

 

Ergo, NMR is not canon, nor is the comics. It is mere fanon.

 

That being said, mixing fanon and canon is never a good idea; the show is meant for all ages, and the comics are meant for bronies, essentially. It'd add unnecessary elements to the show that should remain in the comics, essentially strengthening my point that NMR should stay in the comics, not the show.

Rarity is a fantastic character that is highly beloved by fans.  Killing her off or turning her permanently evil would be a huge mistake.  If you're still confused about how Rarity is amazing, here's a video that should clear things up:

You know, it's just easier to say you don't know what you're talking about.
