What i don't like seeing in video games is cliffhangers and horrible endings.

psst.......anypony remember Halo 2's ending.

I don't like seeing a long cutscene that doesn't tell us anything, makes having the cutscene there pointless.

Oh lord.......after you said that....Metal Solid Gear rang in my head.  That one cutscene was like 20 minutes long, lol.   But I agree, there are some cutscenes that are so boring a dragging.

Exactly. :P If a long cutscene drags on for a long time with nothing happening or not telling us anything, then it's just redundant.

An excess of waypoint markers that reduce the game to "go here, trigger cutscene". Sadly, even GTA 5, a game people adored, was in many ways just full of these. People admitted that the gunplay was not great, so I asked "Okay, what's the main gameplay mechanic then?" and they couldn't answer...

Solving that issue is complex, though - to remove waypoints, you pretty much need to have a world where locations look unique and memorable, and are generally equidistant, and the game has ways of drawing your attention towards your goal naturally.

Enemies committing suicide is a new one for me, though. Do you just mean when enemy AI is so dumb that they run into their own grenades? Or, is this part of some highly depressing action game?

It's especially worse when said sequel never comes to light *coughshemuneandmegamanlegendscough*

I liked Halo 2's ending even though it hung there until the 360 came out.

Where to start....

~Quick Time events

~Linear story lines

~Linear gameplay(one path through the whole game, no alternate routes to take)

~Pointless cut scenes

~unrealistic AI. that can one shot you across the world/map with a pistol.

~Short campaigns

Online wise:

~Quickscoping,no scoping

~ Halo jumping

~Drop shotting

~campers

etc...pretty much every noob tactic that came about with CoD.

I hate:

-over sexualized female characters (Halo 4's Cortana).

-unnecessary gameplay elements (GTA 5's golf).

-using only 4 different Character models for a game filled with NPCs (fable 3)

.

I can agree on over sexualization in games. Especially Tomb Raider.

But how is Golf an unnecessary element? it's fun to play with a couple friends.I See it as part of the online as it's own activity, not something unnecessary.

Character Models,  Fallout 3 and New Vegas were horrible for that. They also reused the same 3-4 voices over. It got to the point where I'd think "Have we met?"

I'm hoping Fallout 4 has a wide range of VAs in it.

I think unnecessary wasn't the best term, but I mean putting time and effort into mini-games before polishing, or even completing the game itself (money system, heists.).

~Buying half of a game.(finished by buying additional DLC)

~lack of "Save anywhere" I'd like to be able to save anywhere in the game, and not have to get to a certain checkpoint...

Well stuff like that was easy to add, heists and money system are a bit more advanced. That is if the Heists are going to be familiar to the campaign ones.

Something that annoys me in a lot of games are the menu screens. I know that may sound weird to some people, but if I play a game that doesn't have a good UI in the menus, it bothers me to death, especially if it's a game where I'm going to be using the menus often to access different game modes, inventory, information, stuff like that. A good menu UI can make a world of difference to me.

-bad level design

-freezes

-bad framerates

-not knowing where to go next

-overly difficult boss fights

-save glitches(oh the sad abundance of this lately, look on any system and you'll probably find a game with a save glitch)

-bad localization(not usually the game's fault though)

-no online play in games that should have it(Nintendo needs to get better at this one in particular)

-input lag

-me losing(because who likes to see themselves lose/game over?)

Excessive Gore (Mortal Kombat)

Characters who don't serve that much purpose in the game.

-Brooding "badass" anti-hero protagonists with a tragic back story (wow, very innovation, much original, wow!)

-Bleak, post-apocalyptic environments. Don't mind some ruins here and there, but when the majority of a game takes place in such a setting...

-Amnesia as a plot device to immediately throw the player into the action without having to build up any backstory till later

-"Blank slate" characters in general

-Superfluous swearing. I use more than enough "sentence enhancers" myself, but even I get sick of games where developers take full advantage of their M rating by injecting F-bombs between every other word.

-Sex scenes in M-rated games. What's the point? Even with an M rating, you can't show anything. Leave that stuff to AO games where they can actually be taken full advantage of, and stop bringing other games' stories to a screeching halt with sex montages that, quite frankly, aren't even pleasant to watch given how emotionless and mechanical the lovers always appear.

-First-person shooter gameplay in general. That shit lost its charm (if ever it had any) after MW2.

-Such heavy focus on realistic graphics. I have never seen a game where people look 100% realistic, and more often than not, human character models fall right into "uncanny valley" territory. I'd rather see cartoony/stylized models done well than "realistic" models that just look unnatural.
