I thought applejack was rather ooc... I think it would have been good, but applejack was so over the top that it just annoyed the crap out of me the entire episode.

If you had just ONE top reason as to why you disliked the episode or thought was a flaw of the episode, which was it?

 

NOTE: This topic doesn't mean we hate the episode or the show, it's merely a point of discussion to talk about the episode in a different way. 

 

Applejack's overprotection was a bit much, but it was kinda funny in a way. I lost it at the double helmet. The fight scene was kinda nightmare fuel-ish for a younger viewer and kinda seemed a bit beyond the atmosphere and environment of a usual MLP episode so I picked that.

 

What's wrong with the chimera? I honestly felt that the Headless Horse and Pony With The Rusty Iron Horseshoe in Sleepless In Ponyville to be scarier.

 

There is no excuse for Applejack's extra overprotectiveness though. She has never acted like this in any other episode this episode tread a very fine line between treating Apple Bloom like a young foal. At least have some explanation, such as the reason for Applejack's overprotectiveness, like how her parents are both dead. Then her actions would have been fully fleshed out.

I was OK with Applejack's overprotection, but I didn't like the chimera. It looked...weird.

I'd have preferred another creature than this.

Other than direct evidence, I also say it's consistent with her overall character to consider herself unreasonably responsible for her family's well being (Applebuck Season, The Last Roundup, Pinkie Apple Pie).
