I thought this forum needs a tea lovers club!

So let's start off with your favorite types of tea, how you get yours ,and your preferred method of preparation.

My typical go to tea is Dragon Well (is a Chinese green tea) , my favorite black tea is Keemun, but as far as preferred tea I would say a nice raw pu-erh (a fermented Chinese tea highly regarded among tea snobs like myself    ,only reason I don't drink it that much is it is a bit harsher on my system). I almost always get my tea online, usually via ebay. And I prepare my tea quite simply in a beaker glass type thermos.

I think my favorite tea is either vanilla sleepy time or honey chamomile 

I usually just buy my tea from grocery stores and get whatevers cheapest

Preferred preparation is with a tea kettle, then I usually add 2 sugars and sometimes honey

 

I can't stand green tea for whatever reason though >A<

My favorite tea is Honey and Lemon tea, and I usually buy it from the store.

 

I prepare it in a tea kettle, and there you have it. I just add sugar, then done.

Barry's Tea is a pretty common Irish tea....but I like it xD

Even without sugar, it's a surprisingly sweet tea! It tastes better with a little bit of raw sugar or honey, but no milk because it's kind of a citrus tea and would just curdle. Dandelion is bitter X3 It wasn't all that bad but I wouldn't buy it again.

Irish Breakfast was favorite for a long time but then I suddenly started loving Earl Grey more.

Yes, it's a loose leaf tea, although I bet you could get it in tea bags (the person that gave it to me got it through one of the Teavana stores). I'm sure the peppermint part is fine, It's the combination with the other flavors that has me worried though .

I have a love/hate relationship with Teavana. XD I love it because it's the best place in my town to get tea but I hate it because they lied to me. Originally, the shop I went to for tea was Teaopia and it had the widest and best selection of loose leaf teas out there! Then suddenly, Teavana bought them out. They promised that nothing but the name was changing, but when they re-opened they got rid of 30% of the teas even though they promised they wouldn't :/

 

The combo SHOULD be good O: I mean, chocolate and peppermint is always a good combo in candy... but in theory it's okay. When you try it, it might not be so good. XD Maybe try it when you have friends over? XD Share the pain~

While I haven't had chocolate peppermint tea, I have had each flavor individually. Chocolate tea is absolutely delicious, like a lovely tea/hot cocoa hybrid, but you must must MUST add milk and sugar! That might seem counterintuitive, since you would expect chocolate tea to already be sweet, but I made the mistake of drinking it plain the first time and it was unpleasantly bitter. The cocoa nibs usually added to such teas won't have that rich sweetness without a little help

@, Yeah, Teavana is definitely a mixed bag. If you know what to look for you might come out okay, otherwise.... :okiedokielokie: . But they do have lovely tea cups, kettles, and so forth; I'll give them that. It's one of the reasons I typically stick to getting tea via ebay, I'm not an expert by any means, but I've found some trustworthy tea sellers and they've done right by me the past year or so .

Oh I'm so glad there's a tea thread. Tea is the best! I'm a fan of all quality teas, though I prefer those of the black or oolong variety, and I'm a total tea kettle loyalist. If it's not made in a kettle, it's just not right!

 

Also, all this talk of brands and no one has brought up Adagio! Adagio is my absolute favorite place to go for tea, even ranking above Teavana for me. In addition to having an enormous selection of quality teas at surprisingly reasonable prices, it has an entire section dedicated to fandom signature blends. That's right, fandom blends. Tea based on fandoms, even the My Little Pony fandom that we're all here for

 

Adagio. Google it. Drink it. Love it.

I'm definitely a black tea fan. One of the nicest commercial brands I've found recently is Yorkshire Gold. Great stuff if you can find it, but it's imported from England, so you have to find it. Strong and dark and rich.

 

I've stopped bothering with Teavana as their selection of black teas in favour of about a million others that are more expensive is now pitiful. It's even worse that they also bought out one of my favourite small independent tea shops as well. If you're in British Columbia, however, or can mail order, you cannot go wrong with Murchie's Teas.

Yeah, I saw that there was no thread specifically for tea, and I thought "As Celestia is my witness, tea snobs will not go threadless ever again!" So I started one .

And Adagio is a great site, I got my first try of a lot of different varieties of tea on that site. Also got the thermos and electric kettle I use from them.

@, I'm extremely wary to buy a lot of things online, let alone tea XD;; I have a phobia that I'd buy tea one time and end up poisoned or something.

 

I do agree, though, that Teavana is... something else. I do love their tea sets and accessories! But I bought all I needed when it was Teopia before in my city. XD So I'm all set!

I only like one tea and the tea i like is sweet tea.

I don't peaapare it my dad makes it but my dad stoped making it and the jar for it is missing.

My dad buys it at vons.

I just use whatever tea is in the teabag jar. 

I have no idea what brand it is.

 

I like all tea - provided it has a _rainbowdash of milk and 2 spoonfuls of sugar.

Well i certainly do love my tea, but in norway we only have two brands unless you go to an import store i guess. Twinings and lipton. Lipton makes terrible grean tea for sure as i cant stand it, it tastes like grass. Twinings green tea & cranberry is currently my favorite tea.

My all-time favorite is a white earl grey tea, which I think of as an admission of guilt because I usually eschew earl grey because it's so boring. It's good .. just .. boring. But white teas are generally my favorites anyway, and I stick to pure loose leaf instead of blends most of the time. Silver Needle and Pai Mu Tan are always in my inventory.

Green tea doesn't excite me that much, I guess just because it's always sencha sencha sencha, and I don't like the taste of sencha. It's used as a base for nearly every green tea blend there is, and I've found some blends that I do like so most of the green tea in my collection belongs in this debased category of teas. I still like them; I just think they're kind of pedestrian. You can generally only brew them once as well. The one notable exception here is jasmine pearls. I think it's the best green tea, that I've ever found at least.

Oolongs are my go-to when I want to drink tea all day since I can infuse the leaves like eight times, without getting the sort of caffeine jolt that eight cups of a single infusion of black tea would deliver (that and probably heart failure). I keep Tai Kwan Yin and milk oolong on hand for this, and a couple other blends of oolong that are quite good.

And then there's orange pekoe. I think right now I've got 4-5 different darjeelings, an assam, and some ceylon blends. A good first flush darjeeling is so good, but I guess people "know" it more/better for it's stronger and more distinct second flush picks, and I have couple of those as well. And it is so, so, so much better than the dust people get in tea bags, I don't know how people can still drink tea bags after having a cup of the real stuff.
