What's your family like?

Are you close with your parents? Your siblings? What about your extended family?

 

 

Both sides of my family are close within themselves, but they hardly ever talk to my mother or I

I was close with my mother, but then some things changed and I can't seem to find respect for her anymore

I have one sister, but she doesn't like to talk to me either

Sometimes I see my aunt and uncle on my father's side, and they're alright, though I'm almost certain they talk about me behind my back

Overall, I don't really have a close family at all

I'm hoping to have children someday and create my own close family ^^

My family is pretty close with each other, but I don't usually see my cousins anymore. I'm close with my mom but not my dad, and I'm pretty close with my extending family. I have a big family.

Lack of privacy for myself, high authority for the pointless or stupid reasons, misunderstandings since they don't know each other to the full potential.

I honestly know next to nothing about anyone on my dad's side of the family. I met my grandma once, my aunt maybe twice and I've seen my dad a handful of times my entire life as well since he lives on the opposite side of the country.

 

On my mom's side most of them are Christians and are very close to each other. We used to all live within the same city or close to but now we're kind of spread out. We've honestly never had many issues. Even the members of the family that had some issues in the past (like my cousin who's had a miscarriage before, dropped out of high school and had several boyfriends) is quite successful in her life.

 

On the more immediate front I get along with my mom though it seems we're growing apart more and more lately. Her being Christian on a somewhat hardcore level the last few years she pushes it pretty hard at times. I went to church for a few months but really didn't feel like it was for me. Plus she has a lot of bad habits and I don't wanna say it's her fault that I have some very similar bad habits but I can honestly say she does nothing to help me kick my habits either even when I explicitly ask her.

 

Then there's my brother who is a total douchenozzle and I will never associate with him again the moment I move out of here. I hate him and everything he stands for. He is a large part of why I will never believe that you should love someone because they are blood-related. He's the type of person that makes me sick to be around and him being related to me does NOT change that fact and I will never understand the logic that it should.

I don't like them as much as I'd like to admit. I won't go too much into detail, but my father is bigoted and condescending, my brother is inconsiderate and doesn't understand people who don't like what he likes, my sister can be extremely immature and annoying, but she's 11 so it's kind of understandable. My mom's not that bad but I feel as though she's a bit of a drama queen at times. They have positive aspects, too, but they seem to be outweighed by the negative ones as of late.

My mom constantly tells me how i will never amount to anything.

I don't have a father, he split before i was born.

My grandparents think i'm scum.

My cousins like to remind me how all i've ever been to them is a waste of time, and nothing more.

My Aunts believe i'm the devil in disguise.

And the rest of my family wants nothing to do with me.

And to add extra frosting to the "f*ck you", my mom called to laugh and insult me when she found out i was getting evicted from my apartment. 

So yeah, good times.

With my siblings I am good with them. With my sister, I am great with her. As well with my brother. But when with all three of us in the room, things start getting crazy. I respect both of my parents. But my mom is lazy. The one thing I would change is that my parents would learn that no matter how many times they took mine and my brothers electronics away, it won't stop us fighting.  I love both of my grandparents. But rarely see my aunts or uncles. But that is alright.  I love my family.

My parents are pretty chill and I respect and admire them for that. Their lax policies have made me... questionable as a person, but all the same I have to appreciate the easy life I lead. I'm afraid of my family past my parents though, like my grandparents. I have some weird sexuality/genderisms, and they're quite conservative. I don't know what will happen when I eventually become more open about my weirdness.

I'm one of those kids who lives with his grandparents -_-

 

I have a pretty good relationship with my grandmother, but my grandfather and I will go weeks without speaking to each other. I don't sense any resentment or anything, though. He's just a quiet fella. Doesn't talk too much to anyone, it seems (and I'm sure it doesn't help that I only come out of my room when I have to )

Mom & Dad are drug addicts. Both of my grandpas were murdered. My dad's mother passed away and my mom's mother is a crazy old lady who used to be a massive alcoholic. I respect two of my brothers, the rest of my siblings don't give a flying fack that I exist. One of my uncles may the biggest dbag on the planet. I guess you can say I'm not much of a family man

My familys really close, not Apple family close, but we visit on every occasion. (Birthdays, holidays, etc.) My immediate family is super close, not problems between my parents sister and me. Outside of that, my dad's side is really successful. Everyone like, self made really rich, featuring a graduate of an Ivy League college, lawyers, doctors, and professors. My mom's side is middle class, but really still really nice. I enjoy my time with both, even if my cousins are annoying at times

My fam jam was real close, heck we still are. We fight often and I don't consider a few aunts or uncles and a grandpa to be family but aside from that we are aas tight as anyone could be.

 

That being said we are getting over the loss of my father. So we are doing about as good as we can

Me, my mum, dad and sister get along fine but my sister moved to London about a year or so ago so I don’t really see her as much anymore.

 

As for extended family, if we mean cousins and aunts and uncles, we never lived in the same cities so we only meet up at the occasionally family get togethers once or twice and year so I wouldn’t say that I really know them, not very well anyway.

Being the ne'er-do-well of the family, I've not been too close with them.  I talk to my mother on occasion, usually by email, but as for the rest of the family on my mother's side, I've not seen them since Grandpa's funeral about five years ago.  I think the last time I talked to anyone but Mom was back at Christmas 2011.

 

I never knew my father's side of the family, only having met a few of them prior to his father passing away, when I got to meet the rest of them (briefly).  At most, Dad and I exchange emails at Christmas to let the other know that we're still alive.  He's got a new family he's happier with, with kids that are more successful than I could ever have been, and I wish them all well.

Thanks for reminding me .. I should check up on my niece. During my quarterly visit to my parents I found out my half sister was charged with assault for hitting her second husband. Brittany's the only one I actually care about though so I guess I'd better check up on that ..

 

My parents and I get along well enough, when I'm in a half-way decent state. Some times have been bad. Some times have been much better. I don't see them a whole lot just because .. I don't. idk, I don't really see anyone now. So it's not a personal thing. Same with my sister .. s .. sisters.

Let's just say I grew up in a tough, Spanish/Cuban household.  So I had some limitations b/c school and education came first, so pretty much im a late bloomer to what I want to do (Voice-Over Acting).  However if there's one thing I love about my family that I do on these forums...............is show Respect.  No matter who you are, what your nationality is, what religion are you, if your disabled, etc.i respect you the way you are b/c the reality is we're only human.  And that i am thankful for learning in my house,
