Not a bad episode, but I couldn't really like it either. It had some fun and interesting moments and it felt the episode was picking up steam (although slowly) during the scenes with Twilight and Rainbow. The rap scene was for me without the doubt the highlight and I thought that from that moment on the episode would really loosen its restraints.

Unfortunately IMO the episode collapsed on itself after that. Being to drawn out and the solution to Rainbow's problem took way too long. The history of the Wonderbolts was interesting though and I loved the costumes, especially Twilight's as Easyglider.

But i keep on wondering what is the main plot for season 4? I feel like the episodes are just random and don't really have any plot too them. Does anyone else think that or is it just me? -_-

What do you mean? MLP is a slice-of-life / comedy show, so most of the episodes are supposed to be light hearted and/or random.

It's never been about taking itself too seriously or making every single episode about an arching plot.

Where's the "plot" in Pinkie making friends with a Donkey? Where's the "plot" in Fluttershy caring for a sick bird?

Where's the "plot" in Twilight having a sleepover? Where's the "plot" in Rainbow Dash looking for a pet?

I may be taking your post entirely wrong, but it seems like you're expecting something out of the show that i'm just not seeing.

Besides, why are you wondering what the season's plot is?

The "plot" of season 4 is to find the keys that are supposed to unlock the magic chest. It was spelled out for us pretty clearly.

Y'know those rainbow eyes and glowing objects that we've been seeing? THAT'S the plot. Right there.

A cast member has a conflict with their own element, and they get an item after resolving the problem.

Those items are implied to be the keys.

This is the kind of episodes that make me like Friendship is Magic a lot! It had all the characteristics that I make it amazing: a good and interesting plot, references to another cartoons or another topics, funny events, cuteness overloads, and this one had a creative solution at the end. Oh, it was great because Twilight had a great role in it, too :o I guess I'm watching it tomorrow again since we're not having a new episode :(

This episode was horrible. If the whole show was written like this, I would not be a brony at all. There were a couple of cute scenes but the story just sucked. This is without a doubt the worst episode of all time. Decent concept, but a very poor delivery. Almost a babyish episode.

They've tested out Rainbow Dash to achieve 100% of her goal and surprised. That's great.

Princess Twilight Sparkle always do legendary stuff with magic in Equestria. Time to blast from the past.

(moonlightavenger asked a good question. I made some changes.)

Don't hate me for this guys, but I don't like Amy Keating Rogers lighting. However, I like her episodes just fine.

If you pay attention to who writes the episodes, like I do, you saw that Amy Keating Rogers headed this episode. I don't like Amy Keating Rogers' writing.

In my opinion, her writing isn't very good. The situations she comes up with are simplistic and seem too easily solved. Her resolutions are contrived, to the point where I come close to facepalm-ing. Especially, the way she writes the Mane 6 make them seem out of character.

For example, in Filli Vanilli, Fluttershy would act a little flustered to find others watching her sing. But, what happens in the episode? She's absolutely mortified...by the measly fact that her best friends just caught her singing. No. That wouldn't happen.

Another thing; Amy Keating Rogers thinks Pinkie's only role in the show is to be an insufferable fourth-wall joke. That is wrong.

Again, this all just my own opinion. You're free to think whatever you want about Ms. Rogers, but I just don't like her writing. I won't impose my opinion on any of you, but if anyone would like to share their thoughts, please do.

I liked this episode. And, of course, Pinkie's rap made up for any negative things in the eppy. I mean, I didn't expect them to surprise us in such a way. At all.

All you really said is that the problem with this episode is that AKR wrote it. How does this translate into the episode itself in your view?

I liked this episode simply because it dealt with the fact that people indeed don't all learn

the same way. This is one of the reasons there are people who often fail in school because the classic

ideal is to put students in a classroom and treat them all the same. Not everyone learns via

the classic lecture.

IMO the best thing about this is episode is Vinyl Scratch making music other than Skrillex-intro-music-type dubstep CONFIRMED FOR CANON.

Twilight: So this has been a fun flight.
Rainbow: It has been interesting.
Twilight: What pray tell, is going on down there?
Rainbow: Well Filthy Rich's wife is having an affair with the butler.
Twilight: Wha...
Rainbow: Oooo. Silver Shell is being shaken down by some mafia ponies.
Twilight: I hope he'll be okay.
Rainbow: Nah. They already threw him into the pond tied down with some rocks.
Twilight: Shouldn't we...
Rainbow: There's Pinkie Pie buying some diamond dust off a dealer. Huh, so that's why she's so hyperactive.
Twilight: Pinkie Pie...
Rainbow: I see Fluttershy's stalker. He is fun to watch.
Twilight: Fluttershy is being stalked.
Rainbow: Now I see Spike.
Twilight: Really, what's he doing?
Rainbow: Just curling up into a fetal position crying. What did you do to him?
Twilight: I did nothing to him. Well actually nothing with him lately for days... Weeks... *Hangs her head down.* Months.

I gave the episode 10/10 and thought it was very fun, charming and entertaining. It also had an excellent conflict and moral which wasn't babyish at all.

I have no idea why you think the things you do about this episode, but i guess it's fair because you probably think the same about me. :D

My worst episode will always be Mysterious Mare Do Well.

I don't think anything of you. The fact you are willing to disagree without being a jerk about it tells me you are alright though. To me, this episode was sort of a rough draft. The moral was great and I agree with it. The delivery was sub par. Usually there is about 7 minutes of goofing around to build up the tension, then they break into the conflict. the last bit of the show they end up solving the conflict. I just think that the climax hit too soon and there just wasn't much depth into the story. There were cute parts. Like Dashie shootin spitwads.at twilight. I give this episode a 5/10. I like it as a filler episode, but will this be on par with May the Best Pet Win or Cutie mark Chronicles? Not at all. This is a decent inbetweener. What makes a great episode to me, is I think that if I were to show a non-brony the episode and would they like it. My pal has been in the stable for way too long. But he is HOOKED on Maud. The Super Cider Squeezy 6000 is another episode I think had some actual depth into it. I think this one was just lacking. I felt that way about Season 4 up until maybe the 10th episode or so. It is not the best season. There have been some real winners though, I am not disappointed in it at all, I just think it seems a bit rushed in some places.
