So...Rainbow Dash is a Wonderbolt. Now what?

.....she's not, she just passed an EXAM to be a reserve member. just because she passed a written exam doesn't automatically make her a wonderbolt. she still needs to work for it.

I foresee Dash changing the Wonderbolts from within, possibly with help from Soarin'. And in the process, the two fall in love. Please?

Still, I am curious to see how this will change the nature of the show. It probably won't change anything (Twilight's alicorn status rarely did), but I hope we get more episodes with Rainbow Dash training to become a wonderbolt.

Well, since a few of the Mane Six's dreams require them to leave or do a lot of travelling-to make their dreams come true, I honestly don't see a way that some of them won't have to abandon their friends.

 

Rarity wants to be a successful fashionista and move to Canterlot.

 

The Wonderbolts do a lot of travelling as performers and since Dash is a back-up, that means that she will probably have to travel with them when an accident occurs, like when Soarin was watching the cheerleaders instead of the skies back at the Equestrian Games try-outs, especially since we've seen that the Wonderbolts are arrogant, reckless, and incompetent on several occasions.

 

Personally, I'm hoping she ditches the Wonderbolts after realizing that they're just a bunch of stuck-up jerks (as we've seen in 'Rainbow Falls') who only care about themselves after making an ultimatum for her to stay one of them, only if she ditches her friends (as we've seen in 'Wonderbolts Academy', and 'Rainbow Falls').

Actually, I have been thinking about that too. I expect that we will see some military ops in which RD's loyalty is put to the test in the heat of battle. In fact, I have been writing a series of screenplays which touch on that:

It completes her character arc for the most part. She has achieved her dream, now all that is left for the character is some minor refinement. Same with twilight after the season 4 finale. Now, during the latter half of season five they can begin removing some of the characters off screen more and more, allowing them to introduce a new team, or new larger world issues for them to solve. Dash becoming a wonder bolt was the furthest Faust was going to take her. She has reached her apex, now it is time for the other 4 to reach theirs as well, so we may move onward, past the characters of old.

I still don't get why they always give the weapons handles. None of the equine races can hold a weapon as it is designed like that.

I think the whole reserves was a way to make her a Wonderbolt without having to actually leave Ponyville. The writers want to keep the status quo and provide character arc fulfillment. They want them all to stay together and still attain their dreams.
