It's not a bad idea in itself, but the problem with adult-oriented episodes is that they really wouldn't be the same show.

 

However mild the differences may be, anyone who watched it would never really look at the main show the same way again.

impossible. If they did it it wouldn't even resemble the show as it is now, the character's personalities would have to completely change.

 

And it's just not a good idea, show being "adult" simply for the sake of being "adult" are pointless.

My problem with the idea of an adult oriented special is that it would put the NORMAL show at risk! We live in a time where having a character with a rainbow colored mane means that she is irredeemably lesbian and is trying broadcast homosexual propaganda to the HELPLESS FOALS OF AMERICA!!!

An adult oriented episode would send all the sheltering soccer moms of the world into an unstoppable lawsuit frenzy.

I'm not against the idea but I can't see the writers able to pull this one off. They probably won't even try because they know there's too big of a margin for disaster and there could be serious repercussions if they got it wrong.

I don't find this funny though as the OP seems quite serious about the idea and that to me is just insulting to him.

personlly im against this. we came to like the show so much when it was meant for little kids, i feel if there was an adult episode it cuase our community to lose its touch.

Like most franchises not aimed toward us, we should let the adult-aimed content for us. Like fanfics, fanmovies, etc.

 

At best, Hasbro and DHX will just keep making references/shoutouts to us, which is perfectly fine.

Personally I think that on a DVD release doing something like a blooper reel or a behind the scenes interview mockumentary would be just plain funny. I don't see how anything like that could be bad in any way. It wouldn't ruin the show and it would give the grownups a little something extra to laugh about.

I will admit it would be interesting and I would indeed watch it. However, the negative responses that Hub would get from them showing those kind of episodes on the air would give the show a very negative reputation amonge viewers world wide. If anything, I belive that what they should do is make a online series of sorts, like on Youtube or on a website like this. It would indeed get alot of views from bronies everywhere, and since it isn't on their channel it might be OK. Heck, I think that if all of the fans were up for it, we could all make a mini series to support the show as well as the Hub. With the added publicity on the internet, it would definatly draw more curious viewers in to check the show out... Which would be awsome! All-in-all though, I think that it is a good idea and would be interesting, but due to the bad ratings I don't think that the Hub would get makes it highly unlikely that they will make anything like that unfortunately...

Ok so i'm indecisive on this one, for different reasons.

At first I was like "noooooo" - then I got to thinkin...

...Now here is my question, if their was an adult show of ponies, would you watch it?

 

That depends on a few things.

 

...also, if this were to air on TV, it would be around 2-4

....and if on DVD it, wouldn't be a part of the main series of Dvd

...two episodes, even a one hour special...

...The special wouldn't even be canon to the series, meaning no matter what happens, it shouldn't affect your view on the show, nor the continuity...

Would you like something that has a real world perspective

#1 - Absolutely NOT for TV or DVD.

If this is going to happen it's going to have to be a fan-based thing and only available online.

Considering that i'm pitching it as an online only thing - which would have to be free - relying on donations or fan collaboration - then if lots of people like it - feel free to create more episodes. Who wants to stop a good thing? However if a majority of people do not like it, then might as well cut it off.

Imo, it should NOT be canon to the series, specifically to prevent people from abandoning the series itself.

 

This seems like an idea the fandom should do, not the creators. I mean, several of us have already proven we can write, act, and animate good ideas. Why ask the writers to break from their good streak to supplement the desires of one group when they are making something originally meant for both groups?

 

Behind the scenes parody with a documentary feel. Like they occasionally cutaway to an interview of each Mane 6 individually and they just go off about they love/hate their co-workers. Maybe interview a handful of background ponies too (Snails: "I was utterly shocked and dismayed when they told me my role was to be the town simpleton! I have a Master's degree from Harvard for Christ's sake!")

If you don't - it's kinda like the old Real World thing, except they get 7 chicks that like to drink and party and fight and put them together in a house for 9 weeks - And they basically party, get drunk, and fight.

Something like this I would actually watch, but tbh I actually like that they bleep out stuff on BGC and I think it should stick with that style.

No clop crap or sexual stuff - that would probably make me stop watching altogether.

No guts & gore - cmon have you ever seen chicks rip out weave? - Imagine pony multi-colored weave flying everywhere. That should be enough.

No, however, I would like an episode or two designed as shout-outs to the fandom. Perhaps an episode where many of the fanon characters, like Vinyl Scratch, Octavia, Lyra, Bon-Bon, Derpy, Dr. Whooves, Colgate/Minuette, Berry Punch, etc, etc, make legitimate non-background appearances.

I'm gonna say... no. I think with some franchises, this can work, but frankly, any adult-pony media, in my opinion, should remain as simply fanfiction found on websites. Besides, it's more fun for me seeing what adult or, at least, pop culture references the show's creators manage to throw into the regular show... I mean, I still can't believe we got a Big Lebowski reference in MLP!!! Of all the movies to reference in a kids show, who would've thought the show's creators would reference that movie? I certainly didn't!

I can never see MLP going anywhere over a TV-G rating, and that's still pushing it. I think the Season 2 Finale was the closest we're gonna get to an "adult special."

I'd love to see an adult oriented special. Just get approval from Hasbro (who's is already trying to appeal to us), limit it to a PG rating, air it during prime time, put a warning at the beggining and let the team do what they do best. But don't try to make it mature, just use the flexiblity of a PG rating to tell a story that they couldn't normally tell.
