11111111111111111111 146 April 27, 2014 Share April 27, 2014 (edited) I know i can't be the only one out there but does anypony else dislike it when people make ponies into people. Like the equestria girls thing. I mean i like crossovers but keep the ponies ponies, no need to make them less awesome by turning them into people or other animals for that matter. But hey, not hating here, to each his own. I am not trying to offend anyone or hurt anyponies feelings. This is apparently a controversial topic. So while I did state that I do not like this type of crossover, I say that with no malice or hate to anypony. Also I did use the word creepy, but this is just how I feel about the art, NOT the people who make it or enjoy it. ghostfacekiller39 23,860 April 27, 2014 Share April 27, 2014 Like, Anthro? Can't say I really care for it, myself; don't HATE it, per se, but it isn't something I'd go actively looking for He who is Positively Obsessed With All Things Rarity!!! Hive King 2,001 April 27, 2014 Share April 27, 2014 Why add in creepy? It has nothing to do with the topic "Aren’t we the same? You know, aren’t you carrying the same mindset as I am? Just because you couldn’t bear to lose, you lost your precious partner! You really call yourself a true duelist? You’re the complete opposite of that!" -Weevil Underwood
Arctic Night 884 April 27, 2014 Share April 27, 2014 I'm not a huge fan of that art either, although I wouldn't say that I "hate" it. I love the way the ponies are drawn and don't really like the weird human-pony things but if people want to draw that it's fine with me. Sig made by Kyoshi. Cool things people have said about me: Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name. (In reference to an author I suggested.) Why add in creepy? It has nothing to do with the topic Well I think it is kinda creepy. I know lots of people don't feel that way but, hey, that's why i am me. href="/monthly_10_2013/post-8308-0-50474800-1383261094.png">

NavelColt 22,881 April 27, 2014 Share April 27, 2014 Going through the fandom, a fandom this big and full of this much content no less, and harboring an interest for just the ponies as ponies alone, and not caring to delve into anthro, human or other forms, to me, feels like the equivillent of going to a buffet table three miles long, and eating only the same three food items, over and over again. Like it or not, anthro and human ponies make up at least half if not more of this fandom's total content x) I know I'd feel like I was horrendously missing out on some damn good artwork and other media if I was as a lot of people in this thread are. I don't see the issue with it, myself. I can't even personally comprehend how someone can call them 'creepy' or any other adjective, really. We're humans, like it or not, so ponies are going to be drawn as humans, or the mid-way point, anthros, a lot :3 I feel like a lot of people judge the 'anthro' or human' pony artwork categories as a whole based on some badly drawn examples, or examples that they don't like. I think that's a core problem, too. Anthro and human ponies differ from artist to artist, unlike ponies drawn as ponies which is far more universal, since that's how the show depicts them. But people should always keep an open mind. Just because artists A, B and C draw anthro ponies or human ponies in a way that you don't like, doesn't mean the rest of the artists in the metaphorical alphebet fandom also drawn them in a way you won't like.

I can see the sense in that, maybe I stated my opinion a little too harshly. But for me it isn't really the art style. I have seen a bunch of different forms of anthro and human ponies and it is not the art that bugs me, in fact most of them are very well done, it is the content of the art. I am not sure why but it just seems off to me. Anyway, I don't want to be rude or start an argument so i guess I will leave it at that, I just wanted to hear peoples opinions. href="/monthly_10_2013/post-8308-0-50474800-1383261094.png">

Which is also categorized depending on the relevancy of such art, not even mentioning the fact that private messaging like every forum has preferences you can establish for your own convenience. epony 7 April 27, 2014 Share April 27, 2014 (edited) I remember when I was in High School I picked up a book on drawing anthro characters. I was always fascinated with drawing- and something about anthro's just drew me in. To be completely honest there was nothing creepy about my fascination, after all we think goblins, demons, elves and all other fantasy creatures are awesome do we not? It's one thing to delve into art for the beauty, its another if its a more "personal" nature. Either way, neither one really crosses realms with the other unless you yourself go that route. If you don't like anthro's getting jiggy with it, keep you clean filters on. Now as for Equestria girls- I think they made the change quite tastefully. They didn't make the world too human and the characters personalities were almost spot-on. Aside from that, it gives us humans ( ), a few ideas on how to create good costumes for BronyCan and BronyCon.
