Ways to beat Tirek

Difference here being that the people who's magic he is draining, is opposing him, were as this magic source is providing him with all the power. Also, it was clear that the only magic Tirek cared about obtaining was alicorn magic, he just needed to become strong enough to drain it, and Discord provided him a quicker means of becoming strong enough, than to continue to drain the weaker ponies. If you really want to talk about logic then why would they take the most powerful magic known in Equestria, heck possibly their entire planet and try to attack a villain that can drain magic and grow stronger doing so. Also this discussion is about Discord being able to defeat human weaponry, not about a magic draining tyrant.

It still applies as to Discord's tactical intelligence, which is abysmal

Friendship is something Discord's virtual omnipotency cannot offer. Tirek offered him something he couldn't achieve on his own convincing him that the ponies could not offer that. He offered him that with no restrictions. It was too tempting for Discord not to grab that chance. Maybe there was danger in it but at that time he didn't see it. Doesn't mean he is stupid though... It just means that his character has flaws just like any other. It means he is a victim of his own passion.

Just offer him the same choice, Discord's big mouth is going to end up screwing him when he babbles something important. Kind of like how he babbled to Tirek

With the powers he has he needs no tactics he does what he wants. Its easy to be fooled thinking Discord isn't... Thing is this might just be one more of his tricks.

All in all babbling is a mistake all villains do. Talking was all Tirek had too...

No it isn't, Discord isn't perfect he is bound to make choices that he would come to regret, your problem however is you expect him to be a ''Mary Sue'' esq character, and the fact that he isn't means he is a moron.

In MLP, yes, all the major villains babble...except Sombra. Sunset Shimmer and NMM at least tried to remedy this by attempting to get rid of their foes

No, I just expect a major villain to not act like a toddler on a power high. Regardless, it's a flaw that prevents him from using full potential

You bring up an interesting point. Would the Crystal Heart have been able to repel/defeat him as it did Sombra? Couldn't they have evacuated ponies to the crystal empire for protection?

Totally! Think of it. It literaly made Sombra explode. If the crystal heart can do that, then Tirek would be gone and lost...

I don't think so, Tirek seemed to be stronger and more resistant than Sombra.

So in your eyes only a toddler could make a mistake like that. If Discord, suddenly spawned in a high populated human city and began to unleash his full chaos, the first course of action anyone would try to do is evacuate the city ( which means it could be hours before any form of military resistance would be brought into play) as they try to assess the situation. Once they realize that small firearms and threats do nothing to him, then they would bring in stronger reinforcement. By this time however, Discord would have already been able to plan out his course of action as well as see just how threatening these humans are. Maybe if this was the Discord that Celestia and Luna turn to stone, thousands of years before the events of the show, then maybe they could one up him, but considering he has been turned to stone twice, and has proven that he learned that lesson when he broke free the first time and hid the Elements of Harmony upon freeing himself, so there is no doubt in my mind that Discord would be cautious about any weapon he may not know about, and would work on getting rid of those first, then worrying about anything else.

That is a fair point. Which Discord are we talking about?

1,000 years ago: More bloodthirsty and good at long term plans, extremely cocky to the point of idiocy

Post Breakout: Less bloodthirsty and good at planning on the fly, less cocky but still arrogant

Post "Reformation: A douchebag, a lot smarter, but fairly easy to manipulate if you give him a carrot(metaphorical)

True Reformation: Unknown

I would have to say: Post Breakout

That's probably the most dangerous one. He can win if he plays his cards right, fighting to the best of his ability. However, as we saw from him daring the Mane 6 to take their best shot at him, it might be possible for someone to just shoot him in the face or something

Yes but the difference here is that, humans don't possess magic, and there for would be harder for them to become undiscorded, so if Discord got to a position where he could let his guard down then, more than likely it will be because their is no one to appose him.

Discord actually dodged a headshot from Tirek at the beginning.

Discord actually dodged a face-shot from Tirek at the beginning.

That was Post-"Reformation". The one we're talking about told the Mane 6 to take their best shot and thought it wouldn't work. That was not too smart

What would Discording even do to a human? No Elements or Cutie Marks to betray. Would it just brainwash them, kill them, etc?

And as for Discord letting down his guard, why would a gun, which looks like a weird looking rock, be a threat to him? He wouldn't know it's a threat right away. Even if he does, he likes proving superiority via tanking

I would assume that it would turn any humans affected into zombies or atleast put them in a zombie like state. Considering Discord would be aware that he is entering a new world that he has never been to before, it would be assumed that he would study up on this world before revealing himself. Also who's to say Discord even has to reveal himself, he could easily unleash his full chaos and not a single human would understand the origin of the strange phenomenon that is occurring. He would not have to reveal himself until his chaos has taken full form of our world and by then Discord could have studied up about us and how we react to strange occurrences. But has anyone ever stop and thought that humans my be more accepting of Discord chaotic magic than the ponies? Our world is already far more chaotic than Equestria is, even with Discords influence so to us, we would just assume its a part of climate change and adapt.

Discord is too arrogant not to boast about it publicly

We do need to know the circumstances though. Is there prep? Knowledge? Which Discord? All of these are variables

Different circumstances, Discord new what to expect from the ponies as he has dealt with them before, but humans and our world would be vastly different than what Discord is used to, So I am curtain he would be more cautious.  Also Twilight and her friends were introduced to the effects of his chaotic magic long before they were introduced to him, so Discord is capable of keeping himself at bay long enough to spread his chaos.

I don't doubt that we would be curious and even scared for a time about the strange phenomenon happening before us, but unless Discord revealed it was him, we would just have to speculate and move on, which we would be able to do better than the ponies.

@@LordDiscord,

Discord made himself a throne, he clearly wants to be seen. He might actually get annoyed by lack of attention

I never said that he would never reveal himself, but he could easily lay low long enough to prepare for whatever this would has to throw at him.

Why would he do that? He wouldn't see any threat from humans, having no magic

He would not trust their technology, this is a new world, unlike Equestria so he would be at a huge disadvantage to just rush out, so he would unleash his chaos from afar and when he feels the time is right, then he would reveal himself to the world.

Kind of like he revealed himself to Equestria. He could have kept his mouth shut so that they wouldn't find out who took the Elements or where they were.

Discord is used to Equestria, and the elements at their worst only turns him to stone, so gambling his freedom is different than gambling his life, he is not going to risk letting the humans get one up on him when he knows that if they did, that would be it for him. Atleast with the elements, if he gets turned to stone, then he can just wait for another opportunity to break free. Also sense we are talking about the post breakout Discord, he would be alot less trusting toward creatures he has probably never seen before.

Even so, Discord was basically betting on them being unable to figure out his riddle. Imagine if Twilight went

Twilight: The maze! Wait..that's what he'd want us to think...the library!

Discord:...Well fuck
