  1. Just spent over $2,000,000 to get the complete YouTube collection on betamax. Now to wait for June 16, 2045...

Wait what. I'm sorry for asking, but isn't that a lot of money to spend and time to wait.

    gaming Bioshock Infinite

Well, I guess I have to go somewhere to say this. I suppose some of it could be counted as spoilers, but I'll try to avoid mentioning anything specific.
  3. Sorry I couldn't be on, there was homework and some other things that needed attention. ... Just kidding, I was playing Bioshock: Infinite, and after that I was raging at Bioshock: Infinite's terrible ending. UPDATE: I still think it had a bad ending, but since literally every single other person on the internet disagrees with me I will now go out of my way to be that one guy who goes to every video and starts a flamewar about it. Just kidding again, what really happened is that I found Two new free games that we could try for this week's event. I haven't played either of them, but the videos look interesting. P.S. What I was kidding about was the starting flame wars part. It really does seem to be only me that hates Bioshock Infinite's ending.
  4. MHFU is great, and playing it on my Vita is the main reason I'm so disappointed there aren't any announced MH games for non-Nintendo systems. Not that I dislike Nintendo, I just love having dual analog sticks and strongly dislike the Wii U.
  5. I've got it now, just for the 3DS, and noticed something: It says on the box that it can do multiplayer locally with a Wii U version. That's cool and all, but crazy out-there possibility, maybe you can do online multiplayer through someone else's Wii U if the chance arises? Probably not, but it would be cool.
  6. I'll be getting it sometime tomorrow, but 3DS only so no hope of playing with most of you :/ If any of you are in the University of Oklahoma that'd be great, but I think I'll resort to finding a group some other way.
  7. I was actually planning to get it, but if there's absolutely no way to do non-local multiplayer without waiting for MH4, I might just get that one instead. I did try the demo though, and having the camera controls on the touch screen is a bit more awkward than a second analog stick but it's usable.
  8. I'm going to celebrate my birthday. Fortunately I don't live in Ponyville; it would really suck if my birthday was on that one day where every single resident was always busy.
  9. Antichamber is pretty great if you're looking for extremely weird puzzle games. You didn't say so, but if you're ever in the mood to have no idea what's going on then it's a great choice. I personally found it a bit too short and easy, but the other parts made up for it.
  10. I can see a few reasons to watch sports: 1) Some common ground to talk to friends about later (e.g. "Hey, did you see that X in the game last night?"). 2) Unpredictable excitement when something unexpected happens, to an extent that (maybe?) can't be matched by scripted twists. 3) The same reasons people watch anything else (getting attached to certain "characters", pretending to live out fantasies, being part of some larger group of appreciation, etc.) 4) You're in the Marching band (or other group related to the sport, but not participating) and are forced to.
  11. I personally think most video games could be made into pretty good movies, as long as the writers and director(s? I don't know that much about movies) know EXACTLY which parts they can mess with. But you know what could make an amazing movie? Battlefield Bad Company. I'm not a fan of the Battlefield series, but BC1 and 2 were great, and an original story around those characters, or loosely based on the two games' plots (I mean it when I say loosely, I do love the regular story but I'd rather the movie be both accessible to newcomers, i.e. not just pick up at the end of BC2, and not be just a straight ripoff that would be boring to anyone who already played).
  12. Sombra narrowly avoided overtly expressing his distaste for storing the Heart in this creature's lair. Anyone but him having the Artifact that could seal him away again was unacceptable in the long-term, but for now… He would simply have to develop his own leverage. Taking the map, Sombra carefully memorized the marked location, but kept the map with him anyway; one could not be too cautious when searching for a particular snowy mountain in a snowy mountain range. When he was done he gave a polite bow, careful to avoid the subservience familiar in the gesture when it was directed at him, and replied simply ”It will be done,” before vanishing in a dense cloud of black smoke. Reappearing before the familiar archway marking the boundaries of his empire, now colored that abominable pink that they held while he wasn’t in power. He longed to return their darkness, but knew that doing so would only bring about his banishment once more. Instead, he recalled the technique he had used when first claiming his prize. It was simple, though he had not expected to need it the first time he escaped from banishment. Removing that memory from consideration, he began to concentrate instead on his magic, focusing it inward rather than outward as one normally does to use magic. As it retreated from permeating his entire body, his appearance shifted slightly as well, his horn beginning to lose its red tinge, his smoky mane coalescing into normal hairs. When he was done, he could hardly be distinguished from a normal pony, a concept that made him gag, though he could still be recognized easily by those who knew him. Such an act took a great deal of concentration to maintain, and was even physically painful, but it was necessary to traverse the empire safely while the hated Crystal Heart remained the source of the crystals’ power. Still, that would not be enough to fool the borders of the Heart’s cruel domain, where Sombra knew from experience that the enchantments were strongest. A short moment of yet more intense focus extracted a portion of the dark energies and began the arduous task of purifying it into the normal form. He remained bitter that a process he developed through years of study had been reversed by that accursed Twilight Sparkle on a whim all those years back… but such thoughts were ignored for the time. He cast the now bright wisp of magic in a strand to the crystal at the center of the gate, connecting them through a thin but effective bond, and began attuning himself to its power. This was even more hated than concealing his true, marvelous form, but just as necessary so he endured. Just as the power of the Heart threatened to encroach on the territory of the dark magic within, Sombra moved as quickly as he could without disturbing the complex spells he maintained, severing the bond immediately after passing between the upright crystals that marked the entrance. From there, the task was nearly simple. Although he had to endure constant pain to do so, Sombra could walk through the streets unhindered by the pervasive aura of the Heart and needed only to avoid mortal detection; an easy feat in the dead of night, his silted eyes providing superior vision in the darkness to avoid patrolling guards without trouble. No others were wandering the streets so late, and although the detours for avoiding guards caused a rather indirect route, he eventually came upon the castle tower. It seemed as though the new occupants had decided that his banishment and the Heart’s own power would be enough to keep him from this point, for there was no additional guard around the Heart’s altar. Sombra wished he could make a more thorough observation, but the moon was low in the sky and containing his power was yet more tedious than it had been when he first rose to become King. Cautiously stepping the final distance to his prize he kept constantly alert for any alarm when finally… He was there. The vile relic was close enough to touch. Rotating slowly in its place beneath the crystal spire, it reflected Sombra’s current visage and made him cringe. Now he would need to decide a new plan. Previously he had corrupted the Heart from here, taking over immediately and facing no worthwhile opposition, but as he had concluded before such a plan would end in failure with even the weakened princess here being able to defeat him in the state that he would be left in after forcing all his power into the receptacle. He could not use any other magic without releasing his magic and becoming subject to the Heart’s current power, which left him only one option. Carefully balancing on his hind legs for a moment, he grasped the Heart between his fore hooves and pulled it from its position. It put up some resistance, but came free easily. Sombra stared at it for a moment, astounded by the simplicity of the action and paying no attention to the cacophony that had instantly burst out all around him, and then began laughing a slow, malicious chuckle. He released his powers all at once and, gathering the pitch-black smoke around him once more, vanished just as several powerful bolts of magic struck the ground where he once stood.
  13. Sombra seethed as the queen ignored his views on 'ruling together', but knew that such a chance could not be taken lightly. Less than a thought grasped the document and picture in his magic and brought them under his piercing gaze, a devious smile tugging his lips slightly as he tried to form his own plan, one without his tenuous ally. He knew, though, that even with the weakness of his mortal enemy her own allies would offer more than enough resistance to make his efforts risky at best. Lifting his eyes back to the changeling in front of him he brought his residual anger in check and stated with a grin instead, "Tell me your plan, partner, so that we may begin at once."
  14. ”Cadence…” growled the dark unicorn, face contorting into a scowl of hatred. ”The false queen…” Sombra focused his glare on the changeling queen. Even now, he still felt her power, rival to his own. ”I will not share my empire, but I will have my revenge.” Locking his gaze on the bright green eyes of the deceptive creature in front of him he continued, ”Enlighten me, Queen: what do you expect from this visit?”
  15. King Sombra let out a hiss as an unknown power invaded his prison. After years alone in the frozen wastes, such an interruption to his ceaseless plotting was unprecedented, if not unwelcome. Indeed, it was accompanied by a forceful pull and held a great deal of hostility, two things which Sombra could respect, and also a message which was respectful in turn. He saw no cause to resist, though he knew not what would be waiting. Brought from the magical depths of the black crystal, Sombra found before him a pony-shaped figure, bearing both wings and a horn but neither in a form which would be expected of an alicorn. He cared little though; nothing was so important as power, and power this creature had in excess. “Who is it that has drawn me from my prison?” he asked, serpentine voice hissing between prominent fangs. “Who is it that seeks my power?”
  16. Pokémon Snap. That game was kind of weird and is very old, but it was great and is one of the few things that could take serious advantage of the Wii U (or even the 3DS if they prefer). TWEWY. They had always wanted to make a sequel, the iOS port (which I never played because apparently iPod Touch doesn't count...) had something that seemed like an obvious hint at the end, and the main character showed up in the most recent Kingdom Hearts game (which almost made me want to buy it... Maybe used or something) all of which indicate that the chances are decent and I really hope they do something good with it.
  17. I'm still awful with the hammer and lance weapons... or at least it feels like I am. When I see people do videos of hunting with the hammer it always looks like they're not really hitting anything, but then it works. So far I prefer the Long Sword, though the Switch Axe looks really awesome and I've enjoyed the various ranged weapons as well.
  18. America, wat u doin. America. STAHP. Oh wait... no, it's just the politicians and a smallish number of VERY LOUD PEOPLE WHO BROKE THEIR CAPS LOCK IN REAL LIFE. Seriously, who thought this was an actual good idea? It reminds me of the fact that the Constitution explicitly states that the government can't force you to provide room and board to soldiers, kind of like a really petulant "Well if we can't do that then YOU can't quarter anyone in your house either. Nyea!" except the time for that was a few centuries ago and the place for it was Kindergarten.
  19. I was only interested because of ponies, but it's not like I'm going to abandon them just because desperate times and all that. I wonder if the title will remain the same...
  20. I played Tri a little, but didn't really understand the game until I got MHFU and played it on my Vita... I honestly don't know how people play without dual analogue sticks, it seems so difficult... Anyways, as much as I wish there was an actual Vita MH game, I do have a 3DS so I might be willing to try playing on that. No plans in the near future to buy a Wii U though.
  21. “I find that, if you think about it, there are few problems that cannot be solved in some fashion with copious amounts of fire.”

  22. Arguably, Princess Molestia is an Alicorn OC... just saying. I personally haven't been satisfied with anything I've thought of for a RP-capable OC, just a few names that I'd work into more complete concepts if I had need for one of them. I also don't care about others' OCs, and I'm not going to say that certain things never work or attempt to offer criticism of aesthetic choices, at least not right now.
  23. The colorful skin looks really weird, and I absolutely hate the cutie marks on their cheeks. I'm not fond of the rest of the art style either, but those are the two specific things that just disgust me. Other than that, I don't see why I should bother forming an opinion now. Fanfiction has done humanization well in many different ways, so I'm willing to expect that the professional writers will be able to come up with something decent. Apart from that... we shall see. An art style is completely capable of destroying a work for some people.
  24. I totally understand what you mean, going to a convenience store in the middle of the night and having to beat up punks with my frying pan is such a pain.
  25. Which arm is it, and exactly how paralyzed? I'm no expert, but if your left arm has trouble moving quickly as a whole, but the fingers are fine, then a Chapman Stick could help by focusing the more intense motions on the right arm. If instead you meant that the fingers are difficult to move, but not the other joints, then that would be terrible advice and you should just learn to play left-handed. If it's a nerve-thing and it's difficult to move any joints in the arm... have you considered trying a new instrument? For example, most brass instruments are easily playable with only one dexterous limb.
