  1. Have you ever thought that, judging from the way the showrunners talk about it and how it was pulled off in the show, Twilight was knighted more than anything else? Knighted people can still lead normal lives. Originally, she was learning about two things: how to cast spells, and friendship. Now, she's learning about these things: how to be a princess, and friendship. I'm still confident she'll still learning about friendship even if she remains an alicorn princess. This is not the end of her journey. This is not even her switching from one journey to an entirely unrelated one. This is merely the next level of her studies.
  2. You have every right to be upset and express it; by all means, keep posting your opinions. Based on what everyone else is saying, it's not your "Twilight turns back into a unicorn again" ideas that they find obnoxious; it's the fact that you keep posting entirely new forum threads when there are already existing threads where people can speculate what will happen in season 4.
  3. The biggest shame about this series is that there was supposed to be a sequel, but so many people on YouTube kept posting comments where they whined about how long it took for episodes to be made and how "terrible" the voices sounded (or at least how they "weren't as good as the originals") that the creator just scrapped the sequel after this was finished. In fact, they were so harsh on the voice actress they had for Apple Bloom (who was nine years old, by the way) that she almost quit the project.
  4. Why don't you tell some of the less initiated what this "Post Nuptials" fanfic is? As popular and wonderful a story as it is, some just may not have the time to check it out.
  5. Once tripped while walking down a flight of stairs. Fell on my bum and slid down the whole way. Broke my tailbone. Could barely climb into bed and showers for a week or two.
  6. That...actually makes it seem longer than it needed to be. I mean, the fact the original episode was short is why I'm glad they made it a musical, that they had songs to move the story along rather than to fill up space. (I'm not saying it didn't have songs that felt like filler, but still.) We still have two more episodes for this story arc, so let's see how they pan out. Of course, we must endure the soul-crushing pony drought that we have no idea how long will last.
  7. Well, here's how I see it:I've brought this up several times earlier, but I find the coronation to be a form of knighthood more than anything. Twilight's going to help guide others on what she's learned about friendship, yes, but she still has plenty of room for personal growth. Half the episode being made up of songs isn't so bad. The songs are what move the plot forward, as a musical is supposed to do. I'd say maybe one or two are there to take up space, but still, the fact that they managed to put together a more-or-less working plot with so many songs in it is impressive. Besides, the songs are awesome, methinks. Again, knighthood. It's a huge honor for Twilight, and her friends are proud of her. Knowing Twilight, she's gonna keep treating them like they're all equals. Maybe they'll even have an episode focusing on her friends trying to do the same.
  8. Ohoho! Is funny because some people are stuck in the mindset that all alicorns are gods because two of them can raise celestial bodies at will when ordinary unicorns could do the same thing before they rose to power over a thousand years ago, and that Twilight has already displayed immeasurable magical power she can use to do all sorts of things with relative ease to intense difficulty because she's still young and learning! Ohhh...
  9. Maybe the spell had an unintended and unforeseeable effect on the Elements of Harmony when Twilight first cast it. And I wouldn't write off such a descent into madness as quick; for all we know, Star Swirl could have spent months, years, or even his entire life trying to perfect his magnum opus that his sheer determination led to stubbornness, then frustration, and finally madness. All because he didn't have any friends. Friendship lesson of the episode: Having friends keeps you sane. I think Twilight can attest to that.
  10. Could this feed into the idea that Star Swirl is actually Discord? There's a discussion about it here that's been around since before "Keep Calm and Flutter On" aired, and it's even been updated to incorporate the newer details on him in the season finale. His spell kept causing all sorts of chaos, and since he just couldn't get it right, he flipped out and decided to keep wreaking chaos because that's all it seemed his "masterpiece" was good for.
  11. Well, considering a fourth season, a TV movie, and a spin-off series (the latter two of which may or may not be directly intertwined) are currently in development, I'd be convinced this isn't the end of the series too.
  12. EVERYONE! I think I figured out why the Apple family didn't seem to help when Pinkie was working on the farm: It's because PINKIE was working on the farm. Her logic-defying powers are so extreme that she ran the whole farm into the ground in a manner of minutes. Her failure at farmwork was just so epic that the other Apple family members just couldn't keep up, or put up, with it all.
  13. It's things like this that make me feel okay with things I'm uncertain about. I mean, I loved it enough when I saw it, but seeing so many other people tear into it as being one of the worst episodes of the series, with an abomination of a plot that utterly disrupted the pristine quality of storytelling the series has displayed, kinda broke my heart. And so I became torn between the good (which started to feel more superficial) and the bad. Now I can see that there's still good reason to love this episode. And, with my additional fascination of the "Hero's Journey" (Star Wars is what sparked my interest in it), you have solidified my reason to name this one of the best episodes of the series I have seen.
  14. And Just read what she said. It is not the specific spell that she created that matters, it's that she created a spell at all. They were already seriously considering making her a princess, but this was a final test of sorts. See, this is pretty much what I said earlier; Twilight's coronation seems to be more along the lines of Equestrian knighthood.
  15. Well, from what the showrunners have said, princesshood in Equestria seems more along the lines of knighthood in real life. I believe looking at it like that makes it easier to swallow her still living in Ponyville with her friends, like Tara Strong said she would. The wings just seem to be a bonus.
  16. Considering how much Tara Strong is assuring she won't change her performance as Twilight for as long as she's a princess, does anyone get the vibe she'll be one for a tad longer than just two more episodes? Ah well, here's another "three-part episode" tweet to torture you all with.
  17. They say it's actually part of the upcoming "Equestria Girls" spin-off brand that features the Mane Cast going on a mission to a new world where they take on human form. Apparently it ignores the current MLP:FiM continuity.
  18. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing Hasbro "forced" the writers to do was make this episode a musical. Stop. Blaming. Hasbro. For the idea. Of forcing Princess Twilicorn. Down everyone's throats.
  19. Behold the words of Tara Strong. Ahem. "Well the good news is, Twilight is going to stay Twilight. She is overwhelmed and surprised and grateful for this new phase in her life but it’s not going to change how she is or how she interacts with her friends, she’s staying in Ponyville. I’m certainly not changing any of my performance and it’s really the same Twilight except she can do more stuff now. She can fly…it’s not going to change the overall feel of the show, she’s going to be with the Mane 6. It’s just Twilight but a little bit better, she can do more stuff! But overall, it’s not really going to change that much. I think that’s what everybody’s afraid of, that it’s going to change sort of that core element that everyone fell in love with these six characters and that’s not going to change at all. I’m not changing a thing about my performance." Feel better?
  20. "Oh, this episode sucks because it was a marketing ploy by Hasbro to sell toys." All episodes are marketing ploys by Hasbro to sell toys.
  21. Why must we let the stigma of Hasbro influence our opinion of the episode? This was, in a general sense, the most wonderful episode everyone hated.
  22. Not long ago, there was a forum posted by someone who wrote a letter to Hasbro claiming why turning Twilight into an alicorn is a bad idea. The thread has been closed since everyone made their point that they don't feel the same way, but that letter brought up a couple of anti-Twilicorn points that, quite frankly, I'm sick of hearing. I've already made my point in the original thread that Hasbro is, in fact, not responsible for Twilight's transformation into an alicorn, nor did they force the showrunners. Here's my proof. I'm here to make different points. Again, odds are they were made earlier in the thread, but I still wish to voice my thoughts: A baseless fear. First, Princess Cadance was Twilight's babysitter. A princess and a babysitter. This means princesses can do mundane stuff; ergo, we can infer Twilight can still do mundane stuff. Second, we have no reason to believe that Twilight is going to leave Ponyville and her friends, or for that matter, stop having to learn about the magic of friendship just because she gets a promotion/powerup. She will probably have some more responsibilities and more powers, but there's no way that any of this is going to change up the formula of the show so radically. Ha. No, seriously. Ha. Twilight has never been on the same level as her friends, in terms of status or power. She is already portrayed as one of the most powerful, talented unicorns in the show. Her friends are already in the dust. And you know what? Her friends don't care. In fact, they're all the prouder to have her as a friend for that. ("Boast Busters") Alicorn's being gods is a fanon theory, and even if she does get an unfathomable powerup, I seriously doubt her friends will care about that. Furthermore, she is already Princess Celestia's student and direct representative in Ponyville; she's always had some sort of authority over them. Whenever Celestia sends them to do something, Twilight's the one to relay her instructions and lead everyone. ("Dragonshy", "The Return of Harmony", "A Canterlot Wedding") And even when Celestia's not involved, Twilight is still the one to take charge and organize things. ("Winter Wrap Up", "It's About Time") Despite all this, Twilight has always treated her friends as if they were equals. We've no reason her becoming a princess will change any of that. And if it does, it'll just become another challenge for her to overcome, one I'm sure many of us are eager to see. I have already voiced my utter disgust in that letter that is made up of these points and more, and here's why: it was childish. It just shows how selfish some people who make such arguments in such a serious manner can be. Now, I've said it once and I'll say it again: it's okay to be upset or mad at the change, but please, do it for the right reasons.
  23. Personally, I don't completely understand how that slipped past so many people. Maybe it was a common mishearing to think Luna was on the moon rather than in it; people are still complaining how the narrator in episode 1 supposedly said the Elements of Harmony were the greatest magic known to "Ponyville" if Luna was banished before Ponyville was even founded, when she actually said it was the greatest magic known to "ponydom."
  24. Because the latest clip sure makes it seem that way! I mean, this is pretty friggin' different from what the synopses reveal.
  25. This is also still some staff member's favorite episode of the season. And since at least one person likes it, it's therefore possible for more of us to like it when we see it.
