  1. A friend and I are looking to put together an animation team for a Flash-animated adaptation of the MLP:FiM fanfic "Post Nuptials" by Darth Link 22. Here's the premise: It's the end of "A Canterlot Wedding: Part 2". The Changelings have been defeated, Shining Armor and Princess Cadance's wedding has gone off without a hitch, and most importantly, Twilight has forgiven her friends since they didn't believe her about the Changeling Queen. But there's the problem: they may have forgiven each other, but they still have to forgive themselves. We already have a first draft of the script, courtesy of Darth Link 22 himself; the aim is to distill the original, multi-chapter story into a single, 30-minute segment, and remove it from the fanfic's original continuity to better adhere with the official canon. We are also currently negotiating with animators for our project. But writing and animating is only part of the job! The following positions are still open: Storyboard artists Sound effects and music Camera tracking Rough animator effects Voice casting will commence once we have enough people on board. If you'd like to help, please contact the head of our project, Greg Cassella, or visit our Facebook page. And be sure to check out the original "Post Nuptials" story!
  2. I coincidentally stumbled upon one of the newer episodes of SpongeBob the other day after a really long time of not thinking about SpongeBob. And while it's obvious that one episode does not totally denote the tone of the whole show or whatever direction it's gone in, I must say that what I saw was pretty uninspired; it was like anything any other cartoon could have done, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I almost forgot all about it by the time I came across this thread. Like Star Trek: Insurrection, I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either.
  3. You tried drawing ponies, and you succeeded more than I could and would have ever done. Now keep doing it and prove to the world how awesome you are.
  4. Tell me about it. Right now, I'm one of at least two people I know (including myself) who thought of the idea to make an animated adaptation of an MLP fanfic we both really like, despite neither of us knowing how to animate anything. The only difference is that the other guy is actually serious about doing it. Now we're combining our talentlessness other filmmaking knowhow to make others give a crap our efforts a reality. Scary what can happen when two such individuals meet.
  5. Even though the previous prom queen crowns are clearly shown to be quite different from how the stolen crown looks in other shots. Add that to my interest in the whole "going on a mission" plot, see how the other HS elements play out, and you've got yourself a potential viewer right here.
  6. You know, this reminds me of that time when someone claiming to be a Hasbro employee leaked some lines of dialogue suggesting that The employee was then fired. The suggested context of the lines were specifically debunked for season 3, and the lines have yet to be used in any broadcast episodes, but there's still the possibility of it being true for future seasons, considering the information was posted around winter time. It's something I'd like to be true, but I think that's feeding into my fears that this rumored information is true as well.
  7. Rumor or not, this makes me feel pretty crummy. I'd very much like to like Equestria Girls, and I even started coming up with some speculations. But then someone comes along, saying they know what's going to happen in the movie/show without solid proof, telling us that MLP is all but doomed. I'm glad I liked season 3 as much as I did considering how bad the pre-broadcast rumors said the changes would be. But for the time being, no matter how much I agree with the logic of all the other posters here, I can't help but feel my hopes have been crushed, and that feeling really sucks. EDIT: The post above made me feel a great deal better than I was just moments ago, but still, the idea that Equestria Girls was the straw that broke Lauren Faust's back is one I'd rather not have. I wish someone could tweet her or something asking if this is true, and odds are someone already has, but I doubt she'll get back to us on that until after it's released. I'd still like to enjoy it, but some of my enthusiasm has now been spent.
  8. So, if we don't want MLP:FiM to actually become EQG...we have to support the hell out of EQG? Besides, there was an anon that pretty much told us about the first part of "The Return of Harmony" in, like, June 2011.
  9. Oh, I think it's going to be very canon. It's about as canon as the Mirror Pool, which was sealed up by a huge boulder and never mentioned again, and events like Nightmare Night, which are important for when they happen.
  10. Okay, here's my idea for the movie's villain, based on what we know. Sunset Shimmer was Princess Celestia's student from 1,000 years ago. For one reason or another, Sunset felt she wasn't good enough and ran away. She stumbled upon the Crystal Empire and stepped into the magic mirror that sent her to the "human" world; she also found that missing magic crown and took it with her because it made her feel better about herself or something. In this new world, Sunset became extremely popular at school and found acceptance as prom queen. However, she let the attention go to her head, and she eventually turned into a mega-bitch. MEANWHILE! As this charming little high school drama went on, the Crystal Empire was being taken over by King Sombra. When he was overthrown by Celestia, who knew not where her former student ran off to and had long since given up on looking for her, King Sombra cursed the empire to vanish for 1,000 years, and it took the "human" world with it. Time freezes for the world, much like the empire. Then the curse lifted, and time returned to normal like nothing happened. Twilight saved the empire, became a princess, and everyone was happy. Then the movie happens. While going through the history records of the empire, it is found that there is supposed to be a magic crown somewhere that is now missing. Celestia concludes it was taken into the world of the magic mirror, and sends Twilight through to retrieve it. Sunset meets Twilight and finds out she's Celestia's new student. She doesn't like the idea of being upstaged, and now that she has acceptance in this new world, she'll do anything to keep it. And thus we have our villain folks. Either that, or she's just an ordinary nice girl who turned into a bitch and just wants to stay prom queen.
  11. Yeah, considering she is most probably Sunset Shimmer, a pony who is said to have been Princess Celestia's student before Twilight, thereby giving us a good idea for why she may be a villain. There are a number of ways where this whole thing can go wrong. But that doesn't mean there are no ways for the staff to pull it off. EDIT: Upon closer inspection of the trailer, I noticed two portraits of this Sunset Shimmer; in one she seems like a rather pleasant girl, and in the other she seems a bit more nasty. And if she is indeed a pony from Equestria like Twilight, then we can assume that she stumbled upon this world while feeling bitter about being passed over by Celestia for Twilight, found some form of acceptance by becoming prom queen, then let it all go to her head. Now that Twilight's here, she may be driven to retain what superiority she thinks she has over her. This all seems very plausible, but if they leave out the whole "former student of Celestia" thing, then I'm sorry for raising everyone's hopes for something that could have been but ultimately wasn't.
  12. As much as I don't think I'll hate it, the promo did help ease some of my reservations. But it also brought up some new ones. For instance, it seems to have some gags that could very easily be overused, like Twilight getting used to her new body and still acting like a horse. Someone probably already said this, but it also seems that Hot Minute clip is from this movie. Maybe they'll have an opportunity to throw in a line on how Twilight could get the hang of flying one minute and then not know how the next. If not, well, the fandom has already come up with a pretty logical explanation that's gone straight to my headcanon: it was a bit of beginner's luck that she pulled off without thinking too hard about it...then she started thinking too hard about it. Kinda like swimming in the deep end of a pool for the first time.
  13. I do respect his opinion, but that doesn't give me much comfort. Part of me knows I can tough it out, but still, it leaves me with a bit of a sore spot.
  14. I'm in a rut. There's this guy on YouTube who I helped turn from a hater into a brony. This was before season 3 aired. When it finished, he was outraged by Twilight's transformation into an alicorn. None of the recent, heavily anticipated fan productions ("SWAG.MOV", "Double Rainboom") seemed to make him feel any better, as he called them unsatisfying disappointments. Now that he has watched the Equestria Girls trailer, he says that he's one piece of bad news away from leaving the fandom altogether; he says Hasbro has become as bad as Capcom, and the team is like the developers of Mega Man. He's now completely inconsolable, saying the fans deserve better than what the show has been giving us, and nothing I say has changed his mind. Even though I don't fault him for thinking these things, I still feel awful. I loved season 3, I am fully accepting of Twilicorn, and I am very optimistic about season 4 (and cautiously optimistic about Equestria Girls). My YouTube friend and I spent many months of the drought between seasons 2 and 3 talking about every single episode thus far, and gushing over the ones we thought were amazing. Now...now he's become like CR of Familiar Faces, dead convinced that the show has taken a turn for the absolute worst from which it will never recover, no matter how much it may improve in the future. Though unlike CR, my friend actually has some good things to say about season 3. But those things were said before the announcement of Alicorn Twilight, and now they seem moot. To paraphrase Applejack from one of the most amazing MLP fanfics I have ever read: It might make no sense to keep feeling down on myself, but there you go.
  15. I really, really, really, really, really don't want Twilight to lose her wings, especially in the next two episodes. The writers made a big change, and they'd better stick with it. It gets pretty tiring to see shows bring up intriguing new possibilities and then snapping right back. It kinda makes you lose respect in the writers. Besides, I'm cool with Alicorn Princess Twilight. They're just wings and different responsibilities. And no, I'm not just mirroring AnYPony's thoughts on the matter. He and I just happen to share the same idea.
  16. 1. More Scootalove. 2. An explanation for why Celestia needs Discord's magic. 3. The Equestria Games subplot going somewhere.
  17. Just for the heck of it, let's talk about what are biggest guilty pleasures are, and why. It can be anything: TV shows, movies, video games, music, ponies, whatever. If it's something you like even though part of you feels you shouldn't, name it. Don't get too dirty, though; let's try to keep this thread PG. I'll start: I like Batman Forever. Mainly because of the camp, and it's the kind that doesn't go all over the place, just the kind I like. Val Kilmer couldn't beat Michael Keaton as Batman, but he definitely tries harder than George Clooney, and Christian Bale...is in a league of his own (let's keep it at that). I just wish all of his best Bruce Wayne scenes weren't cut from the movie. Otherwise it could have been turned from a decent movie into a pretty good one, not to mention an entirely different movie altogether. And even though the villains are pretty much knockoffs of Jack Nicholson's Joker, they're still a blast to watch in all their scenery-chewing hamminess. Plus, it has Jim Carrey. He is my childhood, and I hadn't seen this movie until my teens, so he pretty much made the movie for me. If you're looking for a decent popcorn 90s flick, then by all means, watch Batman Forever. Just bear in mind that the movie franchise has gone no lower than Batman & Robin (admittedly another guilty pleasure of mine, though it makes me feel more guilt than this movie) and you can probably stomach it movie okay. P.S. Yes, I started this thread just to blow off steam for my reignited interest in the movie. Thought I'd make it productive, at least.
  18. Frankendoodle. Because there is evil, and SpongeBob is the destroyer of it. My only regret is that there's no higher quality video I could find to demonstrate my point.
  19. I've always been a sucker for Fairy Tail. The animation is kinda crap for a long-running shonen anime, but there's not a single boring character (or at least major protagonist) in that series. It's a shame that the anime ended a couple of weeks ago after 175 episodes, but if I heard right, I believe it's just a hiatus to let the manga get ahead.
  20. Anything related to Beauty and the Beast. Call the original a masterpiece or not, you still can't do much better than that one, can you?
  21. Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2, natch. He's probably the closest thing Dreamworks has to Judge Frollo, even if the parallels aren't quite there. He's wicked, cunning, committed mass-genocide, looks kickass when he fights, and perfectly alternates between funny and creepy, even being both at once. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for tragic Greek-esque villains; there's something about paranoid figures hell-bent on changing their own fate for some sort of personal gain that makes me giddy, especially when they come face-to-face with the hero who's supposed to cause their downfall. Also, he's Gary Oldman in peacock form. They say he's a perfect addition to the gallery of Oldman villains, and I'd love to see this guy included in them more. Even if you don't like Kung Fu Panda, if you're a fan of Gary Oldman, then Shen alone is worth it. Though you'd kinda have to see the first movie anyway. Oh, why bother just talking about him? Peacocks are awesome.
  22. It's been a while since I was paying attention to any of these threads. What, exactly, changed your mind from "Anyone who says Twilight isn't immortal is wrong! I don't know how, but they're wrong!" to, well, this?
  23. What, like being Princess Celestia's personal student, direct emissary in Ponyville, and general organizer of several of the town's events doesn't put her above the rest before?
  24. Oh yeah? What kind of plans did she have for the others? All I know is that there was supposed to be development with Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo's relationship, even though it's been said RD wouldn't make the best big sister figure. And judging from what happened in "Sleepless in Ponyville", it still seems like she's not the best role model. So let's hope they build on that.
  25. Aw, but don't you see? Twilight's transformation doesn't ruin the balance! Now we have three ponies who can only walk on land (Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity), and three ponies who can fly (Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy)!
