  1. Count me in. My family knows of my interest in the show, but they find no appeal in the show itself, or at least what little they've seen of it. So I don't really have people to talk about it with.
  2. I dunno. I really liked Frozen, but The Lego Movie was better.
  3. On top of the whole "he was just stressed" thing everyone keeps bringing up, I have to say it wasn't just stress; Twilight did kind of insult the woman he thought was his bride-to-be. I'd be pretty upset if I were in my right mind which, sad for me to say, I'm pretty sure he was. And even if Twilight turned out to be wrong, I'd like to think of Shining Armor as the kind of brother who'd reconsider letting her back after giving her some time to think about what she'd done. And for all those fanfic writers who like to tear him a new one for making Twilight think their friendship was over, using Cadance as some kind of mouthpiece to tell him, "You said I'd be getting an awesome sister if I married you! I thought you loved me! The wedding is off!", and those who read it and say, "Yes, this is what should have happened, that bastard needed to pay and those so-called friends of hers need to pay this is so good and deep and emotional and everyone should read it like omg take notes dhx aaaarrgh" I have to say, STOP. Yes, Twilight turned out to be right about the impostor. Yes, I hate watching this scene and I cringe every time I see a mere thumbnail of it. But I fully believe Shining Armor and her friends' reaction was justified. Twilight went about her accusations the wrong way, raving like some kind of lunatic and presenting no circumstantial evidence backing her claims. It was a miscommunication, and Twilight was not completely blameless for it. So while many of us feel ill just thinking about the scene, reading some story that was slapped together in the heat of that anger makes me feel even worse. I wish the episode turned out differently the way it did, and I wish there was much more closure to their confrontation, but what happened, happened. We can only find ways to reconcile it in our minds, just like Twilight, her brother, and her friends did in the end. And if that means piling fighting on top of fighting, more power to you; just keep that interpretation far away from me.
  4. Yeah, they know, and so do a handful of my other relatives. They say as long as I am able to support myself and don't become consumed by it (as has sadly been the case for other things in my life), I can watch it for as long as I'd like.
  5. I'd like it to be someone new, like the synopsis suggests. Maybe someone like King Sombra, only better; the problem with him wasn't that he had no personality, but that the route they were going with him--a frightening force of nature--wasn't executed as well as it could have been. That being said, I seem to recall Meghan saying there would be new, "messed up" villains this season. I was guessing that she was referring to the Mane-iac when she said "messed up", but I could be wrong. If only I could remember where I read that...
  6. I'm sure they didn't. The term was used by the fanbase before the show did, which they likely got from somewhere else.
  7. Well, with the finale press release now out, it seems my prediction about Twilight trying to prove her mettle after being passed over was right on the money. But I have a couple of other ideas I think would be cool to see from the finale: The return of young Luna, and an official version of young Celestia. The official explanation for Luna's S2+ redesign was that she regained her former power, so it'd only be reasonable to conclude that the princesses transferring all of their power to Twilight could lead to this. Cameo appearances from each of the five key-givers before this episode. If it's not a series of flashbacks to these characters, then it could show us how Twilight's friends affected their lives.
  8. I find it very comforting to see these Equestria Games clips. I was afraid they'd build up the games and then not even bother to show us at least one contest, like it would just focus on Spike's dilemma surrounding the opening ceremony. But looking at the video at 0:18... What even is that?
  9. Yeah, it was. And it wasn't blindly mocking bronies, either; apart from that one villain whose creepiness goes beyond having a horse fetish, the "Equesticles" (hehe) are very nice and harmless overall, and the characters' reactions range from confused to fascinated, which is not only a breath of fresh air, but lends itself to some pretty great lines. ("We've discovered a new kind of man!") I won't lie, there is a scene that ventures into some sexual territory, but it also points out that this is hardly exclusive to fans like bronies, so it's all good. Heh. Retrospect.
  10. Oh, I loved this episode, and I've never seen the show before. I was wondering if I should, but now I intend to catch up! Also, one reviewer of the episode hopes to get bombarded with the angry tears of butthurt bronies who can't take a joke so he can revel in every moment of it. Let's all join forces and express our understanding attitude and enjoyment of the episode instead!
  11. Looking at the chapter titles alone, I can pretty much tell which chapters adapt the shorts where the Humane 5 get their instruments. But for the curious (or those who like/don't care being spoilered), think we could get a quick runthrough of what each chapter is about?
  12. It's the kind of synopsis that makes me want the extended synopsis to come out faster, because Celestia-dangit, I need more context.
  13. My guess is that the finale will be about Twilight dealing with being passed over for a huge responsibility in favor of someone she hates (i.e., Discord), believing herself more capable. Then, when the chance to prove herself is offered to her, she will realize that bearing the weight of Equestria all on her own goes against everything she learned about friendship; her humility will inspire someone (the Princesses? Discord? The villain?) who will give her the final key needed for the chest, which will no doubt contain this "Rainbow Power" that's been so avidly advertised lately. Or maybe the power the Princesses try to give Twilight is Rainbow Power, which she'll decide to share with her friends as part of her realization, and the chest will lead to her kingdom as a reward.
  14. On a different note, I do wish the game was long enough to play through the whole official instrumental of "What My Cutie Mark Is Telling Me". The two-star difficulty is slightly longer, but it cuts before the very last part, and it's driving me nuts. Is it possible to extract the audio or something? MysteriousBronie's fanmade instrumental is nice, but the official version has its differences nonetheless.
  15. Well, before S3 came out, we got a leaked image of King Sombra in an official MLP game. While this game doesn't do anything of that sort, one still can't help but wonder... And I'm also fairly certain that Rainbow Power is like the Super Saiyan of MLP, a super mode the girls can activate at will to use the magic of the Elements, if not something greater.
  16. I checked out the official "Magical Match Three" game on the Hasbro website. On top of featuring the Mane 6 in their "Rainbow Power" designs, it also comes with an interesting little story: "Oh no! Discord is in Equestria...and stealing all of the color! Play the game and help bring color back to Equestria!" Oh, and Discord's wearing antique eyeglasses. Could this be the plot of the season finale? Is this how the Rainbow Power fits in? Does Discord go bad again, or was he never truly reformed?
  17. Seems like a small part for Vinyl. I heard a lot of people excited that this chapted "confirmed" she'd be getting a speaking role, but...let's take a closer look at her scene: Doesn't look like she's talking to me.
  18. How much more DJ Pon-3? I can't read it, for I have no iOS device. And are we to assume Trixie will be an antagonist, if not the antagonist? I once heard something along those lines, so...
  19. Let us take the time to share our favorite moments of actors playing against type. It could be comedic actors playing dramatic roles, or the other way around. It could also be live action, animated, TV, film, or whatever. As of late, my favorite would have to be Liam Neeson as Bad Cop and Good Cop in "The Lego Movie". The idea of him playing what is essentially the cop equivalent of Fluttershy is hilarious on its own, but it's also a riot to see him act so dead-serious as a Lego minifig. And that poor chair...
  20. I never knew she was even being considered. Fear not, for there is one thing Meghan McCarthy has been quoted to say in the Elements of Harmony Guidebook:
  21. I wonder what creatures they'll use next for episodes with third-act-sudden-adventure-syndrome.
  22. I know people feel betrayed after Meghan said Flash wouldn't be a S4 character but...honestly, just use your heads for a minute. Do any of you honestly think she was the one who put him into this episode? Yeah, she co-wrote the episode, but as far as she was concerned, Cadance was merely accompanied by two guards. If anyone is to blame, blame the animator who likely hadn't known about the controversy, or didn't think it was even that big a deal. Besides, it's not like this was the first time this happened, either; in the very first episode, Apple Bloom was huddling in fear with Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo, even though they technically hadn't met yet. Lauren didn't intend this; she wrote that scene with two random fillies alongside Apple Bloom. Yet due to a major mixup, the scene ended up as it did. What was done was done, and the show went on like nothing happened. The way I see it, the only way Flash's appearance could contradict what Meghan told us is if he's featured as a major character in a S4 episode whose role is acknowledged by the other characters, and not a mere BGP who could be easily replaced by anyone (as it stands in Equestria Girls, he straddles the line between both). So I'm not gonna bother believing Meghan's "lies", because I honestly find no lies to believe.
  23. WHAT WAS THAT?! WHAT EVEN WAS THAT?! WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!
  24. Judging from the Milli Vanilli title, I think I can predict exactly what the conflict will be: The singer will lose their voice, and Fluttershy, in a well-meaning but misguided attempt at kindness, will get the singer to lipsync so they can still perform. Of course this will land her and/or the singer in hot water once things go wrong.
