  1. For about as long as I've known what the 100th episode of MLP would be about, I knew that it was made specifically for the bronies who helped make the background characters their own. I also knew that the show's actual target audience probably wouldn't be nearly as involved as them, so I'd imagine that having an episode suddenly switch focus would be pretty weird. The same goes for the casual adult fans who've gone nowhere near Derpy and the like. However, I've read accounts of kids laughing their heads off and loving every minute of the episode. So I'm curious, if you're a casual viewer who saw this episode, or if you've watched it with them or read other accounts, what did you/they think about it?
  2. The point here is that she saw something she didn't want to see the show do, done in a way she didn't want to see it done, and reacted accordingly. Whether the writers did it with the best intentions or not, they didn't do it expecting everyone to like it.
  3. Derpy was no glitch. It was meant to be an inside joke the animators threw in because her face was supposed to be just outside of view in the intended shot. But the final cut made the shot wider, and the joke was revealed for all to see.
  4. I tend to like episodes based on what they're about, not who they're about.
  5. Yes, but the press release specifically states that he lets these responsibilities go to his head, and that he starts making up orders under Twilight's name left and right. As I said, that doesn't automatically make the episode bad, but it's not a premise I typically enjoy. And I don't have it out against Spike episodes either; for example, Equestria Games, as divisive as it is for focusing more on Spike than the games, remains one of my favorite episodes of the season, and I'd put it in my top 20 of the show so far.
  6. I highly doubt that promo is for one episode, but several; at least the next three. The next is "Princess Spike", which is about Spike making orders in Twilight's name while Twilight is away. Spike facing a mob of ponies seems like the standard fallout. "Party Pooped" is all about Pinkie Pie saving an important summit. The bits focusing on Pinkie just may be from this, and there do seem to be a bunch of important-looking yaks. According to the leaked episode list, the third from today's will be called "Amending Fences". Time will tell what it will be about, but maybe it has to do with Twilight meeting those three ponies (Minuette, Twinkleshine, and Lemon Hearts) from the first episode who didn't like her attitude... Not especially looking forward to the next episode since I seldom enjoy "drunk with power" stories; they're often so predictable. The Pinkie episode I can't say much about since all we know about it seems so basic, and with Pinkie, anything goes. As for the third, at this point I'm worried that I'm buying into the hype of my own speculation, because I think it'd be interesting to see Twilight going back to make amends with ponies she brushed aside before moving to Ponyville. But it just may be a bit too much time to dedicate to such a small scene, since episode 100 at least split itself into parts for each pony, rather than one whole episode focused on a certain group.
  7. College, for sure. Everyone is so much more mature.
  8. So tell me, with Episode 100 only two weeks away from tomorrow, what are the odds of us getting a new commercial or preview during tomorrow's back-to-back screening of Equestria Girls and Rainbow Rocks, plus the RR shorts?
  9. No it is not flawless, and it never was. But I still love it to bits.
  10. Looks like whoever wrote that Zap2It summary didn't get the memo that the Mane Six would be battling a monster off screen. We know the Mane Six won't be in the episode (or at least won't have a major role), so it's pretty obvious their battle is just an excuse to have them out of town so we can focus on the episode's real stars: BG and minor ponies.
  11. So, judging from the press release dates of previous episodes, when do you think we can expect an official synopsis for Episode 100? I wager we should be getting news soon, within this week or the next. We know it'll air on June 13 and that it'll be about BG ponies, but I want to know what it's about, and what it's called (if it's "Slice of Life", then that just might say for sure how legit this episode list is). That, and there's a personal speculation of mine that I want to confirm...or deny...
  12. Honestly, I doubt the writers have anything against Lauren. They even paid tribute to her in "Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3" by naming the founder of the Wonderbolts after her username "fyre-flye", making it an indirect reference to G1 Firefly. Use your hands.
  13. Because of Rainbow Dash's reaction to the news, and the fact that Tank is buried in the end. It's very much treated like a death, even though Tank is still alive.
  14. Only if the duration of the series takes place in the span of 2 or 3 months, because I'm pretty sure the episode made it clear enough that Tank is not going to die from hibernation.
  15. So, it's come to my attention that Spike makes a split-second appearance at the very end of the animatic clip shown in this S5 preview. We may or may not have to brace ourselves for the potential reveal that this could be a Spike episode. One featuring BG characters in the foreground, but still. On the one hand, if this turns out to be true, I'd be disappointed that the staff didn't take a bigger risk and just focus on the BG characters doing something while the Mane Six are away, because Just for Sidekicks has already done this with Spike. On the other hand, having a familiar character at the center of the story would not only help give the episode focus, but also give the audience a guide as we technically meet and really get to know the BG characters for the first time. Sure, some of them will be taking a page from the characterizations fans have given them, but we won't know which ones will be similar and which ones will be different. Their characterization is now in their hands. I just hope we get plent of time to know them. Or maybe he'll just be a minor character and the BG ponies really will be getting most of the focus, and I'm just overthinking this. Either way, I'm getting this out there now because the sooner anyone who may be disappointed with it comes to grips with it, the higher chance they'll have at enjoying the episode for what it delivers. I was let down when I first learned Equestria Games turned out to be more about Spike than the games, and that episode turned out to be one of my all-time favorites in the show so far. Let's see what Episode 100 has got in store for us. Actually, those are sketches for two different episodes. The Discord episode is Episode 98, two episodes before the BG pony episode.
  16. So, I took a look at the Season 5 preview that showed a brief animatic clip for Episode 100, and for a split second at the very end, I saw Spike standing in the foreground at the bottom righthand corner. I know Episode 100 will feature background characters without any of the Mane Six, but...do you think that maybe...it'll be a Spike episode?? I mean, I'm fine with it as long as we get plenty of BG pony screentime like we were promised, but...I've been hoping the episode would take a risk and just have the BG characters as the main characters. That, or he'll just end up playing a minor part and the BG characters will dominate much of the foreground, and I'm just overthinking this.
  17. I know, it was a joke. I mean, it was just one conjunction that changed. Not to mention the list also predicted the Griffonstone episode, which seems to have been overlooked.
  18. Aha! See? He said it would be "Make New Friends AND Keep Discord" on April 5...but the press title was "Make New Friends BUT Keep Discord"! He got it WRONG! ...I kid...
  19. The prequels are guilty pleasures to me. I know they're bad movies and I would've liked it if they were better, but I still love them. And I take no joy and no fun in destroying what I love. -_-
  20. I...don't like that. It's exhausting to be so thoroughly negative.
  21. You know what we need? An official fan name to call the group as a whole, just like we call the six main characters the Mane Six. Let's get suggestions and hold a vote for the ones we like the most. I propose we call them the Equartet ("equal" + "quartet"). That said, this is a topic about favorite ponies and it'd be obnoxious if I didn't post anything related, so mine is Sugar Belle, hands down. She's simply adorable!
  22. I'd love to know where this was said, as well as anything else he knows.
  23. Next up, Rainbow Rocks. As one who was cautiously optimistic when I saw the trailers of the first movie, I can honestly say the sequel's trailers have left a better impression on me, mainly for these reasons: The villains are more impressionable. Sunset Shimmer seems more bearable. The shorts were adorable.
