I wanted to hear about my friends' status updates, but because I had too many friends, I had a new notification every five seconds, and at least 25 of them when I wake up and check this site first thing in the morning.

@ DJ Shy there should be an option to disable such under "notifications" in settings.

There is, but there is no option to choose which people you hear status updates from.
