  1. I almost forgot I had done the 999th post. Well that's at least one thing I can be proud of...and getting to number 11 in the rank of top posters on here. What I'm not so proud of: getting spanked by the Base in my quest for dominance, and then losing my incentive to keep going afterwards. 363,291
  2. I'm not really attracted to sexes universally, I'm attracted to personalities. But I haven't found a personality that meets my standards yet, so I'm not sure, am I asexual or bi, or maybe I'm just straight?
  3. If you want to run multiple operating systems on the same system you will have to dual-boot, as you will have to choose which OS to use on startup, using the GRUB boot menu. That is, unless you're willing to go into the BIOS to change boot device, which I would never make myself or anyone do on a daily basis. There are many distros and graphical environments to choose from, but as a new user you can forget about that and search just for Ubuntu, as it's among the most easy to use and definitely the best supported. 99% of the time it'll automatically load the correct drivers for your hardware so your legwork is massively reduced. I should inform that LInux desktops are a bit rough with Windows filesystems, specifically NTFS and exFAT. If your media hard drive if formatted to one of these, you may consider backing it up, reformatting it to ext4, and then installing this on Windows so that it can mount it. That should improve its performance under both OSes too.
  4. Downloads all the way. However, if we're talking about published works (music in particular), I'll often go back to older physical media when the master I want is not available to download. Optical discs are still good for long term backups as they are generally permanent once burnt and don't deteriorate as fast as magnetic media.
  5. I'm on a laptop that was bought 4-5 years ago, but I was age 13 at the time and my parents paid for it. It's not a bad one either, a ThinkPad T510. But I am itching to build a system, as I can barely make 1080p 50fps videos without time-consuming conversion processes. Just need to get the funds together.
  6. Every so often I have to drop by and leave a string of digits. 356,022
  7. ...is a bit frosty as I have a few warnings from 2014 and prior. But then again, I'm not nearly as frequent with my posts compared to other members here, and as a result I'm not as well known, except maybe in the Count to one million thread. I've come much closer to a ban on a couple of other boards I frequent (one of which I got a suspension), both of which you'd probably not recognise.
  8. Me walking with my sister through my old school (as far as I can remember): Me: You know the whole brony thing? Sis: Yes... Me: Well I am now one! Sis: Noooooooooooooooooooo!
  9. I like to make sure the balance of power swings my way.
  10. My country, the UK is becoming socially 'lost' and it's people are losing their identity. As a consequence I feel insecure living here. I don't have faith in the institutions here. I feel like I need to do something about it.
  11. I follow for the sake of being compatible, but I lead my life strategies and goals. I like to socially 'separate' myself from others who don't have the same goals as me.
  12. 343,467 We'll make it to 500k posts once we reach 25k pages.
  13. An iPhone is no good for a music production, no matter what app you use. You may find that the kind of equipment you'll need to record an acoustic piano is prohibitively expensive, as you'll need one or two condenser mics, plus a mixer that can provide phantom power. That could easily run over £200. I have tried using dynamic mics but the results were way too noisy to use for anything serious. Recording a keyboard is much easier and cheaper. You'll need a cheap USB interface such as this, and a cable to connect the two. I'm assuming the keyboard has a quarter-inch stereo headphone jack. Alternatively there's this cable with dual mono plugs at both ends. That comes to around £30-40 all in all. As for software, Audacity is all you'll need for recording. In Audacity you can also amplify the captured audio to an acceptable level, but you cannot control the levels on the recording, for that you'll need a USB interface with mixer capabilities. But this should be enough to get you started.
  14. It's an absolute monarchy with a benevolent dictator. Couldn't really be anything else. Where my unanswered questians are is in the Crystal Empire. First, it's not really an Empire as it only has one city, and second, is it a part of the Sun+moonbutt dynasty? We've seen them indirectly administer it through orders to Twilight and co, but the sovereign status of the place is still rather unknown.
  15. I've realised that what makes the show so innovative is how it teaches it's audience. It presents scenarios that inspire many people to be like the characters on screen, especially for older people. The result is a fandom that's not just a fan of a show, but a group of people who are prepared to defend the shows values when it's necessary, and to apply them wherever possible. That has a massive appeal to me. Bronies to MLP are kinda what al-Qaeda is to Islam, except non-violent and not a terrorist organisation. Our next step, I think, is our version of IS.
  16. I have two directories: 'Albums' (for songs that are part of albums) and 'Artists' (individual songs with no album link). The Albuns directory is relatively consistent; inside there is a list of artists with their own directories, opening one will reveal more directories of albums for that artist. The only exception is compilation albums, I put those directly on the Albums directory with no artist affiliation. The Artists directory on the other hand, has the usual list of Artists inside them, but beyond that it becomes a mess; not all songs have artwork, some have instrumentals and stems, some have their own directories but not all. I also never bothered to update the metadata so in a media player some tracks can be impossible to find. But at least it's something, and I'm not about to change it now.
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlTR1jHqY-o It's a ripoff, but a good one I think.
  18. I used to identify myself as most white British, but with a chunk of Finnish, but lately I've decided I don't share enough characteristics with either groups (what does it mean to be British anyway?). In some ways I feel fandoms like this one have largely replaced the identity I would have had had the social conditions been desirable enough for me to have retained it. However, I'm not sure I can say MLP: FIM fans are an ethnic group yet but because we have factions, our standards are incomplete/inconsistent and are geographically divided. What do you think? BTW, if you suggest I label myself as White (other), that is just ludicrous because it means nothing. Not like whites are united as an ethnic group or anything.
  19. The NiGHTS into Dreams soundtrack was well received on release, I especially like the opener. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz5hVhw_Q0o
