No; make every due effort to make sure the proper owner gets it, even if you risk the wrong person getting it . Because you’re definitely not the right person! (My mom would totally keep it, no questions asked and has criticized my point of view ). Obviously if it’s in the middle of nowhere or a populated area, a $20 is probably not worth the effort . Actually I did only do this once as a kid. Would somebody even be looking for it or would they just accept it being lost and thus the $20 you returned to lost and found ends up never being claimed by anyone? Would they have even done the same for you or anybody else? Should’ve just kept it. What if it was even more? Then is it worth having $500 never be claimed by anyone except when repossessed by the darn government (if that’s how it works?)? This is one of my longest posts here, isn’t it? I digress .
