I don't read about MLP news because I'm too lazy to read Equestria Daily every day, and I don't have many friends, so I often have no idea what's going on. But I've seen people talking about G5. What's this all about? What's going on? Is My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic gonna end? Now I'm scared...

How would you describe Princess Luna's personality?

Good luck getting these people to believe that emo is a music genre. In tenth grade I tried to explain to a bunch of kids in my English class that emo is a music genre and the people who are called emo because of their clothes and hair and makeup and the music they listen to are actually scene kids (I got this information from a scene kid I used to be close friends with), but nobody believed me. Then one of them played a song by Black Veil Brides and asked me if I thought it was emo and I said no and she said that emo isn't a music genre because BVB isn't emo. What the heck? Where's the logic in that? What were these kids doing in honors English? -
How would you describe Princess Luna's personality?

Don't call people who self-harm emo. People who self-harm are mentally ill and need help. It seems that you are one of the people fortunate enough to not have experienced terrible pain. But to people like me who HAVE experienced such terrible pain, being called emo is very offensive. There's nothing wrong with actually being emo, but you don't even know what emo actually means or you wouldn't use it the way you do. I won't go into what it actually means because nobody will believe me, but I will tell you that self-harming doesn't make someone emo and being emo doesn't mean somebody self-harms. Luna IS NOT emo. She is a girl who has been through a lot and is hurting very badly and needs help. -
Most crazy/daring thing you've done as a child
melody5697 replied to Grtxkkyz's topic in General Discussion
For the purposes of this question, does a 12-year-old count as a child? If so, I used to be a digimon believer and we did these things called digiclipses where we tried to open a portal to the digital world with sheer willpower. Every week I packed a backpack with stuff I'd need to survive in the digital world (not sure how good a job I did), then at a certain time, a small group of people all over the world (or at least in the US, UK, Australia, Italy, and Germany) would hold toy digivices or something else that we thought gave us a connection to our digimon partners up to the sky and try to open a portal. I often did this in a clearing in the woods and shouted, "Digiportal open!" Digiclipses were thought up by trolls and digimon believers don't do them anymore. Obviously it would never work, so that makes it crazy, and since I honestly believed that it would work and that I was gonna go save the digital world, that makes it daring. EDIT: Oops, forgot about Canada! We had quite a few Digimon believers in Canada. -

general media Will you be upgrading to Windows 10?
melody5697 replied to Invalid's topic in Media Discussion
Actually it's only the ninth version, but Windows 95 and Windows 98 were both sometimes called Windows 9, so they call it Windows 10 to avoid confusion. That's what my dad told me. -
general media Will you be upgrading to Windows 10?
melody5697 replied to Invalid's topic in Media Discussion
Absolutely. I don't really know anything about it, but it's got to be better than Windows 8 (which is what I have now and the only reason I was willing to get a laptop with Windows 8 is because I'll be able to upgrade it soon). I wish I could just have Windows XP forever, though. Windows XP was awesome. -
I haven't worked everything out yet, but here's my theory: Equestria is definitely on Earth. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's in North America because they have saguaro cacti which only grow in the Sonoran desert. It's even in the right part of the continent. My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic takes place in an alternate universe, the same one that the G1 show takes place in, but in the future. WAY in the future. But why do they still speak English? Long, long ago, there was a threat to the entire world. The Rainbow of Light, the flutter ponies, and the princesses' magic wands all put together weren't enough to stop it. The only thing with enough magic to stop the threat was the Heart of Ponyland, which controlled all the magic in the entire world. The six princess ponies' magic wands, which they used to maintain the magical balance in Ponyland, drew their power from it, but the wands couldn't hold enough magic for them to be used to stop the threat. The princess ponies had to transfer the magic to themselves. The princesses were originally one unicorn, one pegasus, and three earth ponies, but when they transfered the magic into themselves, they became the first alicorns. They used their new magic to stop the threat. (Something happened to the humans, but I haven't figured out what.) But then they realized that the sun wasn't moving. It turned out they had removed too much magic from the Heart of Ponyland. Without it, the sun and moon couldn't move on their own, the weather wouldn't change, the plants wouldn't grow, the animals couldn't take care of themselves, and ponies were born without their cutie marks. On the plus side, languages stopped changing. But the ponies had to figure out how to make the world work again. They were focusing on that and lost all their technology. Eventually they got to where they are now and they still speak English, but very few remember what happened. Nopony knows that the Tree of Harmony used to be the Heart of Ponyland, and that the Everfree Forest works the way it does because the Tree of Harmony has just enough magic for the area around it to work like it's supposed to. I hope nobody minds that I ended up explaining a bunch of other stuff in the process of explaining why they still speak English. (I hope nothing I said contradicted the G1 show. I haven't actually seen the whole thing.)

I know Luna acts differently in the comics, but I'm really confused by how she was treating her subjects. I understand using old-fashioned words like "peasants" since she was gone for a thousand years, but why did she think it was okay to force all the guests at that party to be chess pieces?! She's a nice girl and I don't understand why she would do something like that! Oh wait, maybe she wasn't thinking straight because she was so tired. Is that why she did that?

I know nobody's replied to this thread in months, but I just wanted to say that I saw something that said Luna was weakened again because of Nightmare Moon coming back. After reading "Princess Celestia and The Summer of Royal Waves", I thought maybe a magical mane can sometimes turn into a normal mane when the pony is under A LOT of stress since that appeared to be what happened to a character in that book, but "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep" disproved that theory.

How would you describe Princess Luna's personality?
melody5697 replied to melody5697's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Okay! ^^ I shouldn't be so worried anyway since I've seen fan fictions much worse that people liked for some strange reason. A few days ago I saw a story that took a few scenes from "The Real Story" but replaced the Miasma with Star Swirl's personal student (not Clover the Clever) who went bad and the writer added part of the lyrics of Lullaby for a Princess at the end and it was written really really badly yet for some strange reason there were people who actually liked it. Wow, we're really getting off-topic now. -
How would you describe Princess Luna's personality?
melody5697 replied to melody5697's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Okay. I do have a fairly large allowance ($17 a week is a lot, right?) and my grandma (I live with my grandparents because my dad couldn't handle my problems) pays me extra to do things around the house because our house keeper quit, so if I stop wasting my money on cake pops and coffee, I should be able to afford to buy comics. -

Hmm, I really should read the comics at some point. (I haven't read anything past the Nightmare Rarity arc because I can't afford to buy them all. Maybe I should stop spending my money on cake pops and coffee and spend it on books instead.) I heard that she acts the way she acted in The Journal of the Two Sisters. Hasn't she always cared? How would you describe Princess Luna's personality?
melody5697 replied to melody5697's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I wasn't talking about the Nightmare Forces, actually. I don't consider the comics canon, and the Nightmare Rarity arc has pretty much been disproven by Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep anyway. But the thing I'm talking about is similar. I'm working on a fan fiction about what happened when Luna turned into Nightmare Moon, but I might never post it. I very rarely have any ideas for stories, so I haven't had a chance to develop my writing skills. I think my idea is good, but I'm not writing it very well because I'm so inexperienced. Luna definitely has some sort of mental illness. I'll have to do some research. This should be fun. -
How would you describe Princess Luna's personality?
melody5697 replied to melody5697's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I think there was more to it than ponies liking the day better, and I think she was possessed when she turned into Nightmare Moon. She kind of let it happen, but she was tricked. The fan fiction I'm writing explains what happened when she became Nightmare Moon, so you can read more about what I think happened if I ever finish my fan fiction. As for the other things, sounds a whole lot like how I used to be, and I sure as hell didn't have borderline personality disorder. I thought I did, but when I told the psychiatrist in the mental hospital that I thought I had it and why, she sure didn't think so.Plus, I'm pretty sure they didn't intend for her to have it, and it seems unlikely that they would do it by accident. -

How would you describe Princess Luna's personality?
melody5697 replied to melody5697's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I have bipolar disorder and I really hate it when people say that people who do not have bipolar disorder are bipolar. It isn't a personality trait. It's a serious mental illness and it's living hell if it isn't treated. I know a girl who has severe bipolar disorder and she is way worse than Princess Luna. So unless you think Princess Luna actually has bipolar disorder, don't call her bipolar. -

I just realized that my idea of what she's like is different from some other people's. Maybe I'm totally misinterpreting her. It wouldn't be the first time I've done that. So what do you people think she's like? And yes, I am totally obsessed with her. I have a Princess Luna plushie, a Princess Luna Pony Pops toy, a Princess Luna McDonald's toy, a necklace with Princess Luna's cutie mark on it, a Princess Luna charm attached to my phone, two Princess Luna coloring pages, Princess Luna stickers on my lamp, a full set of Princess Luna cursors on my computer, and Princess Luna desktop backgrounds.
