  1. Sunset Shimmer: "What!? Equestria! Your friends! Lost to you forever! Don't you see what I'm about to do to the portal?!" Twilight Sparkle: "Yes, but I've also seen what you've been able to do here without magic. Equestria will find a way to survive without my Element of Harmony. This place might not, if I allow it to fall into your hands. So go ahead. Destroy the portal." Not saying she should have stayed, but it just creates a very blatant inconsistency in the narrative.
  2. Too be fair that kind of stuff has happened to Mxy more than once. But I've considered Discord to be essentially a djinni from the beginning so the genie comparison fits. Especially if being good begins to make him weaker later on :3
  3. What the heck was the deal with this? Maybe it was stolen by phoenix teenagers ;P
  4. I was thinking about dinosaurs and it got me wondering. If there were some ancient, huge, long extinct creatures in Equestria, what would they be like? They already have huge dragons, so what sorts of terrifying beings would have all died out?
  5. Hmmm... This is sort of an experimental idea that I haven't put too much thought into yet, so please tell me if you can maybe agree with this. The problem isn't with Twilight specifically. She's pretty sensible on her own. The problem is with everyone else to Twilight. Here's what I mean. Those saying that Twilight is better than everyone else have a point, but so do those bringing up that she clearly isn't. The way I see it, Twilight believes that she's not better than anyone else, but literally everyone else does. The way her friends act to her seems to show that they really do consider her better, because in a narrative sense, she really is more important. She may not actually be better, depending on your interpretation, and she may not act like it, quite the opposite. However it's hard to deny that the story and characters often DO treat her like she's better. Heck, the plot of Boast Busters was literally "Twilight is better than Trixie but doesn't want to act like it." It's the same problem I brought up a few weeks ago with her being a princess. Twilight herself has sensible doubts about the whole thing. But everyone else, everyone in the entire series, from her friends and family, to the other princesses, to even the villains, ALL accept her princessdom at face value. She never has to prove anyone wrong because she's the ONLY one questioning it. That's where I think a lot of this disagreement is coming from. From the facts, and Twilight's own assessment of herself, she's pretty modest. But expand that to how the story, the writers, her friends, and even the rulers of the land treat her, and it's very easy to see her as a Mary Sue. She's arguably born the most powerful unicorn ever, is manipulated into important situations, saves the world in relatively mundane ways, is constantly praised and admired by her friends, is constantly given very important roles she doesn't deserve by the ruler of the land, is made a ruler herself for no stated reason whatsoever, ascends to a higher race of being, doesn't have to go through the trials her all her friends do... And the show tells us it's literally all "destiny".
  6. Anyone who actually believes the "Trixie was being heckled" nonsense needs to actually go watch the episode.
  7. Well it's not in the show. Not even doubting it, just pointing out it's not actually canon.
  8. Technically, we don't know if Maud even shares a name with Pinkie. The title of the episode was a joke, so it can't really be taken as canon.
  9. The entire point of season 4 was supposedly to do that, and they didn't even try. I think it's a but lofty to expect any more now.
  10. To be fair, she wasn't a showoff, but the conflict of the first two major conflicts is that Twilight is cocky as hell.
  11. Twilight at least had redeeming qualities before becoming an alicorn, but even still there have been some problems before then. For instance, watching Boast Busters, if you ask yourself "Why is Twilight so powerful?" the good answer is "Because she's the princess's personal protege who's been studying magic for most of her life." But by the time that episode aired, none of that was shown at all, and the episode itself simply says "Because her cutie mark is magic, so it's her inborn talent", which is a much less interesting or gratifying answer.
  12. Here's a question: Are there creatures in Equestria with magic resistance? So far, no one's even tried using magic on a grown dragon, and aren't they sort of famous for that?
  13. Oh, so remember how weird it was that Trixie says she "doesn't trust wheels"?
  14. But it doesn't "wobble" like something soft, it jiggles like something hard and stiff.
  15. But is that done any more now than it was in the past? I don't think it is.
