  1. By 'ponying' up do you mean ponying up the money for, or ponyfying the nicknames/squad? If the former, I'm probably gonna end up with Sun - as for the latter, probably not too much - the only nicknames I usually give are to the legendaries and they are always suffixed with -les e.g. Crumbles for Groudon, Bubbles for Palkia and Wiggles and Giggles for Latina and Latvians respectively (ok, that was meant to be Latios and Latias, but I found the autocorrects funny XD)
  2. Hey, and welcome to the forums - to find friends to talk about the show, and just friends in general, this isn't a bad place for that So, besides MLP what shows do you watch? Also, you say that you are a gamer - there is a large gaming community on here, no matter if you are Xbox, PlayStation, PC or Nintendo, you will easily find others on here to game with! Speaking of which: https://mlpforums.com/topic/68519-steamlivepsn3ds-friend-code-central/page-1?hl=gamer%20tag I know how you feel about the cold though - today is the first day since summer I've felt cold in my apartment, not co,d enough to click on the heating yet, but enough to wear a sweater for the first time
  3. There isn't much in it between the mane 6 (/7) for me, as far as favourites go - all of them are interesting characters. Gun to the side of my head though, would be Rarity - I find her the most entertaining (I always find her dramatics hilarious). It appeals to me for many reasons - but I think the characters are my main draw. They are all flawed in some respects, and shine well in others, with varying personalities that the writers (for the most part) compliment well with the rest of the cast. But, I think some part of it is that it is light hearted - a lot of the TV shows I watch are things like House of Cards, Dexter or Daredevil etc, so are often quite dark or you have to keep somewhat engaged mentally to keep up with the plot. MLP is a nice change of pace (though I do enjoy the storylines too, they just aren't as complex as some of the other shows). Aaaaand the fact that the characters are insanely cute, might also be an appealing aspect of the show too
  4. I don't know why, but this remix for some reason always conjures images of outer space, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just me, but you never know - others might find that too http://www.youtu.be/x62sHyG2SFY
  5. I guess I can imagine this song being good for a monsters introduction XD http://www.youtu.be/uHBtpqbOKXk
  6. Well, at least you'd know what Denz would say to a lovely cup of tea I'd imagine that the 'Starlight Glimmer Experience' would be a much less...harrowing ride than the Arnold Rimmer Experience XD For some reason, whenever we see any bird, one of us will point and say (in a poor Irish accent) 'bird' - as in: http://www.youtu.be/sq4_c-_r0K4
  7. Some of my friends do, but in my family we all enjoy a lot of the same shows (though, they don't watch MLP, so can't quote that XD). So we are always quoting stuff - Red Dwarf and Father Ted seem to be the most quoted at the moment XD
  8. So I made an interesting discovery the other day - Krispy Kreme cafés (at least in the U.K.) do surprisingly good coffee. So, you get to combine coffee with doughnuts . Also, with their app, you can get free doughnuts/coffees from time to time too
  9. It's meant to have several health benefits, in moderation - granted it is best without sugar, as that adds a large negative to its healthy-ness. There is some evidence to show that it can provide some protection against liver cancer, Parkinson's, heart disease and even type II diabetes (obvs when taken without the aforementioned sugar). Though, I've not read the actual studies, this is all hear-say, so can't vouch for the accuracy of everything. But, having too much does start to provide negatives such as headaches, high blood pressure, sleep issues (insomnia) and can affect your digestive system. So, like all things, moderation is key.
  10. Aha, that sounds closer to what I remember, another console with a 2 year lifespan XD
  11. Was it really as recent as 2005? It feels way older than that! I had a friend who had one, I don't remember ever seeing him actually play a game on it though XD
  12. Watching TVs and just saw an advert starring a Rarity (toy) - I think that's the first FiM I've seen on British TV

  13. When first making this show, I wonder how many of them said: 'I bet this show will attract a large following of both men and women across all age ranges, and create a subculture on the internet which involves philosophical discussions on the meanings of the show, deep analysis of the characters behaviour and international conventions set up by fans, attracting fans from different continents.' Here's a Happy 6th Birthday to a fandom that I am very happy that I discovered (and would have called you crazy if you had said that I would ever get into this show 6 years ago)
  14. Funnily enough, way back in the day - people went to Apple over PC for gaming (with the Apple II), then both companies changed marketing etc and now obviously PC is waaaay ahead in those regards. But, Apple did once try to make a gaming console: The Pippin They sold an amazing 42,000 units and discontinued it after only 2 years - talk about a success XD

It's a strange show in that it will have you laughing along with it, but then sideswipe you with something really hard hitting
  16. The periodic table of elements being the real elements of harmony. But what if you take two hydrogen atoms, bonded to an oxygen atom, mixed with many other identical compounds...and then add lithium? Not sure if it would be very harmonious XD

They are, I still remember being shown the lithium in water demonstration at school (hence why it sprang to mind) - I don't remember any explosions, so may not have been shown sodium XD

      Br O N Y

Sodium does not always explode in water, it firstly fizzes and melts, and maybe it explodes after a while. Anyway, I think you can't make unlimited comments here... so I would rather prefere to chat in PM.

  17. Where I grew up, the public transport was (is) woeful, so it has kinda been ingrained into anyone who comes from there to get there yourself and to avoid public transport like the plague :s
  18. If it's within about 5 miles, I will most likely walk (weather depending, or if I'm going to have to carry lots of stuff), otherwise I will drive. Cycling is if I can get there and back in a day - and 90% of the route is off road, as I hate cycling on roads. Luckily, my parents live next to a forest, so I often just leave my bike at theirs and take it out whenever I visit (happily, they enjoy it too).

  20. Hi there and welcome to the non lurking side of the forums Am sure you'll have a good time with us all and it's not difficult to make friends on here either, so that shouldn't be a problem
  21. Unfortunately, there isn't a one stop solution to this, first I'd say try to be comfortable with who you are. It may not be what you want to hear, but being comfortable with who you are, will make things much easier in you. I used to be relatively shy too, but now would call myself a confident person, but it took time. You have to just step outside your comfort zone every now and then. If at school or work, try to start a conversation with someone you don't know that well, or like Ethan said, join a new club or take up a new hobby. But, take things slow - if you jump in and sign up to 50 different clubs and try to join in with large groups of friends, you will probably find it overwhelming and that may actually make it harder and almost regress you back into your shy self. If you take 'baby steps', it may take a while, but after you try talking to one new person at work/school, the next may seem a little less daunting, and after you speak to the next, it may become even less daunting, and so on until you get to the point where you might feel ready to try to joining in on a group. So, take things slow, try one new thing at a time and don't expect it to happen overnight - but with a little perseverance and work you should be able to beat your shyfulness. Also, don't always trust those personality tests either, they are made by fans and can't be counted on for a 100% accurate representation - you know yourself best, and will most likely already know who you most resemble.
  22. I've been playing around with the Forza Horizon 3 demo today - it has been a long time since I've had a games intro cinematic make me say 'wow' outloud, and even longer since a racing game has hooked me in - at least one that doesn't involve shooting rockets/shells at other players. The gameplay reminded me of the Midnight Club and Burnout games on the original Xbox (minus the 'nitro boost' button XD), just with a more polished engine (pun intended ) under the hood - and I used to absolutely love those games, so am now (im)patiently waiting for the full game to download!
  23. Just realised the Fox Village has already been posted on here before, my bad. To make up for it, I'll leave this here instead
  24. I have indeed, an example I posted earlier: Also, where I work has quite a large campus, including an area where there are some trees/grass etc and when walking around at dusk will often see one scurry across the grass. Also, this:
  25. Thats what I've heard, it was for banishing evil spirits. I personally like Halloween, but mainly because it signifies (for me at least) the beginning of the run up to Christmas (and we usually have some fun at work with it too). I used to be Christian, but am not any more, so I don't celebrate Christmas forreligious reasons any more but more because it brings the family together and most people are generally in pretty good spirits
