  1. I think the thread is more about the inability to imagine nonexistence, rather than wanting to not exist.
  2. Oh god, I've read so many by now, it would be hard to pick out five, let alone one. I... might actually start putting out my recommendations in a blog or something. I thought I saw a section of the forums dedicating to plugging things you like, but I might have just dreamt it too.
  3. @Randimaxis You did it. You magnificent sonofahitch, you did it.
  4. Because imagining requires using our mind, and not existing involves an absence of mind - the two are mutually exclusive. Even in a sensory deprivation tank, with no outside stimuli, you'd still have your thoughts. It's much like trying to imagine what it's like when you're in a dreamless sleep. With the part of your brain that processes thought shut down, what you experience is simply a timeskip from the point of when you've fallen asleep to the point where you wake up.
  5. Here's something I've been curious about, but first, let's talk about the Tethercat Principle, also known as Offscreen Inertia. The idea behind it is that for characters that, when we see a character doing something, and the scene changes, we assume, if not consciously, that they have been left doing that thing until they either appear or are mentioned again. So I got to thinking about Blueblood. Well, okay, I got to thinking about Blueblood first, then it kind of went from there. The last - or rather, the only - time we've ever seen him was during the Grand Galloping Gala, a time in which he showed himself as a... less than likeable individual. But here's the thing - during the time that just about every other character grew and transformed, in just about every other piece of fan fiction he appears in, he's still portrayed as the snobby man-child he'd been at the Gala and it seems a little unfair - inasmuch the term "fair" can apply to a wholly fictional character - that he got locked into a one-dimensional portrayal when background characters with less screentime got far more varied and branching interpretations. So, here's a thought to consider - given all that has happened since his appearance {i.e. a lot} and what we know of his background and motivations {i.e. very little}, what do you think might have happened with Bluey in the meantime? Is he still a spoiled brat, or has he grown beyond that? Headcanons and wild extrapolations of tiny details are encouraged.
  6. The Witcher series is basically Xena with more axes to the face. Whether that's a good or a bad thing is up to the reader, though.
  7. Hmmm. Would calling Joker a good movie constitute an unpopular opinion? I mean, I wouldn't say I liked it, given that it was depressing as heck, but as a drama, it worked really damn well.
  8. Did you yell in her face with a smaller face that came out of your face?
  9. Vocaroo should be straightforward enough, I think. https://vocaroo.com/upload I don't think we're in a hurry - the end of January should be doable for everyone, I hope. If anyone has trouble, let me know.
  10. That's all right, I never do. Also, what does he mean by... "hiccups"?
  11. Well, everybody knows prime pony real estate is the tummy rub area.
  12. @cuteycindyhoney ....that's cold. {going for that double pun}
  13. Delete my browser historeeeee! Justkiddingitsnotthatbad!
  14. You go straight to voicemail and a message that the voicemail box is full.
  15. I'm tempted to ruin this for everyone and just compare hashes between different pictures.
  16. Do we have a forum or subforum for plugging neat stuff we found? I could've sworn I've seen it somewhere, but damn if I can find it now.

  17. That basically covers it - most revivals are nostalgia cash-ins, when children who grew up with a certain thing now have not only enough money to spend on those things {since there's only so much pocket money you can spend on merch}, but a lot of them also have children of their own who they want to introduce to the awesomeness of the things they grew up with {and it has to be awesome, otherwise they wouldn't have liked it, right?}. Combine that with the fact that it seems new to kids {because they hadn't been born yet when it was in its heyday} and there's that much less to invest in creativity rather than refinement for whatever new trends have emerged on their own recently. Some of it works better than others, mainly because nostalgia can create interest, but not enjoyment - for example, the new Ghostbusters movie bombed, as did Jen and the Holograms. Therefore, while cashing in on nostalgia with reboots saves on PR, or at least amplifies it, the reboots still need to stand up on their own for any of it to last.
  18. What the heck, I'm going for the Flim Flam duet.
  19. I'm torn between that and Flim Flam duet. I wish we could have a multiple choice poll, but alas...
  20. We'll find the song selections... eventually?
  21. -sips on lemonade as he processes this- -sets lemonade aside- -looks between Celestia and Luna- So... Starswirl the Bearded found strange creatures in a crashed vehicle of unknown origin, then proceeded to modify them so they could rule the world. Or at least the known world at the time. -turns to Starswirl- Are you sure you're not a mad scientist?
