    roleplay world Humans in Equestria?

Heh, I just might. Nothing to lose but my dignity, eh?
  3. Try to address the situation systematically. First, ask why the dislike, both her and her friends. Even if they don't give me the answer, there are usually things to be deduced from any kind of answer. If the reason is given, and valid, decide whether or not it's better to try and change that trait about myself or deal with it and sever all ties with the person. If no reason is given, check with their friends whether or not that behavior is characteristic for them, given the possibility of circumstances outside my knowledge. If yes, goto 20. If not, raise the possibility of identity theft, mind control, coercion or other harmful circumstances and take it from there.

    roleplay world Humans in Equestria?

Gotcha. Is there a quick way to tell which threads allow for such characters, or check them out one by one?
  5. As far as I can tell, it was a combination of good animation, funny writing and a character that was just silly enough to be believable. Also his mom, although the only secondary character, did a pretty good job of portraying a "cool adult" archetype.

    roleplay world Humans in Equestria?

Sorry if this is the wrong section or a dumb question, but are there any overall rules regarding humans in Equestria, being either from this Earth or alternate ones? Are there any casual/social threads that involve them?
  7. Personally, I fall under the dislike category. As far as I can tell, she's the most liked {least disliked?} due to her apparent airheadedness, but that seems to carry an assumption that a person can't be both ditzy and malevolent which is far from true, and lacking distractions she cheerfully falls in line with the other two's schemes for domination.
  8. Assuming it was when I woke up? That would depend on whether or not I could see my wife in said bed as well.
  9. Did you have concept sketches or anything beforehand? Or was this a strictly a zero-to-sixty thing? Because if it's the latter, daaaaaang!
  10. I quite like Capaldi, AKA Crotchety Who. Too bad his episodes are kind of meh...
  11. I was wondering if someone remembers or can help me track down a fanfic I once read. It's a fairly old one, I'd say probably dating back to late 2011/early 2012. It's not called "Observations of ponies on Lyr", because I've searched for that, but might be something similar. The premise is a bit of an oddball one. The mane six get abducted by aliens and transported to another planet to see how they behave in a different environment. The story is written from the perspective of one of the alien researchers, in the form of personal {and frequently frustrated} reports, complete with the occasional diagram and notes on the margins. The things also get complicated in Equestria where the aliens {masquerading as ponies} responsible for covering up the abduction find themselves over their heads. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
  12. Nooot sure. Like Ribbon said, it doesn't mention anything writing-wise or the cartoon specifically, but it's really, really vague.
  13. Hmmmm. Sunset Shimmer, with Rarity as close second. Redeemed villains - truly redeemed - are so rare. And Rarity because stylin'!
  14. This comes readily to mind. https://www.youtube.com/embed/K-kYiDbG39s {how do I YouTube embed?} Also, I wanted more Samurai Jack.
  15. Not fully ignore, no, but my personal philosophy is never to let canon get in the way of writing a good story. The less conflict it has with established canon makes it that much easier to mentally insert it into the world, but in the end, all fanfiction is non-canonical.
  16. I have a few, with different degrees of ponyhood and development. There's Quinch, originally from Paragon City, shot to Equestria with no way or desire to return. Having been forced into a rather violent lifestyle, his character arc, so to speak, was focused on adapting to the peaceful life in Equestria. In the more MLPish ballpark, there's Drakontipa {mangled greek for Snake-footed} While she's not a canon MLP species, she mainly draws on Gorgons of Greek mythology, though I tried to de-anthromoprphise her as much as possible. She was kind of a challenge for myself, though I didn't get to play her much. At the core of her concept is, I wanted a character that would be genuinely and unfixably difficult to get along with, though not for her, or anyone else's fault. As to why, well, that's a different topic. And going full pony, there's Sweet Comfort, a pegasus from Port Seabiscuit. She is what she calls a "Professional Attitude Adjuster". While not a full-fledged psychiatrist, she specializes in making others feel better - if it's through encouragement, listening, compliments or physical contact and gentleness, and does quite a good job of it. I like her concept, but I didn't really come up with much by way of backstory or personality, other than a cheerful and optimistic disposition. Also, she's a natural green, she just spends a lot on personal grooming and mane dye.
  17. Favorite? Hmmm.... I'd say Luna, with Celestia in a very, very close second. Celestia is awesome as a kind, loving and most importantly, competent ruler/maintainer of a idyllic realm, but she's also had a thousand years' headstart on her sister. But I'm going for Luna because she has a charming mystique around her, even if she lacks the {visible, at least} influence of her sister. Plus, it's always heartwarming to see someone recover from a bad situation and become who and what they wanted to be.
  18. Castle visit! Day and night! Because c'mon, the mane six are probably busy with their stuff, but either seeing the princesses or even being able to tell them how an awesome job they're doing from someone whom they're not responsible for and/over seems like something worth doing. Also, odds are there would be cake.
  19. Same. I didn't expect a shot of Gummy at the end, but I feel like they could have done better just by using exact the same scene as they did, but with a gorgeous and perplexing cake on the table. Chalk me up there. Although I quite liked Gilda beforehand, but that was mainly because of a personal {and now thoroughly demolished} headcanon. But if they hadn't developed Gilda as a bonafide badass, that would would have been such a wasted opportunity. I'm glad they took it.
  20. Well, I'm using an Insider {read, free beta testers'} version of W10 and there's things I like, and things I don't like. It's definitely a step back from the cliff Windows 8 balanced itself on, and I found that the things I thought I really wanted to keep I didn't actually use, even when I had them. The Metro interface died in a well-deserved fire, and everything is back to desktop mode. The tile/start menu mix is nice, although I'm hitting a bunch of bugs there. Then again, beta version. One thing that bugs me the daylights out of me is the lack of personalization - you can use themes, and set overall colors, but there's no way to manually pick and choose colors for each UI interface or even a Windows Classic theme. Bright white is not my thing. Haven't used Cortana yet, but the search function is nice. It uses Seamonkey, my default browser, rather than hardcoding for Edge, which is nice, but I'd like to use other search engines rather than Bing to search.

    Hi, folks!

Thanks for all the cheer, guys and/or gals! Any tips on where to head to first? I still have to catch up on the last season, I last saw Griffonstone. Any cool news? Big events? I'll probably lurk more than post until I feel comfortable jumping into conversations. Oh, also, how's the roleplaying section work? Any rules, other than the common courtesy ones?
  22. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Applejack How did you find MLP Forums?: I don't remember? How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I watched a few episodes, things went from there. Hello, everyone! My name is Quinch and I'm new here, as you can probably tell. So, a little about myself, I guess. I first heard of Friendship is Magic back when I frequented the MSPA forums, though at the time I had absolutely no idea why My Little Pony was something even worth mentioning {I chalked it up to irony}. It was only after starting to see a lot of PMVs and footage on random YouTube trawlings that I got interested enough to see a random episode, which turned out to be Dressed For Success. I... really didn't like it. It wasn't bad by any measure, but it struck me as something that I couldn't find myself caring much for. It was only after seeing a certain pony music video {this one, particularly} that I decided to give it another try, and this time started watching the show from the beginning. By that point the first season just wrapped up, and we were waiting for the second one. It was sort of the inception of the fandom, even though I wasn't really there for it, but the thing that really caught my attention was that it was, well, nice without being vapid. I bummed around a bit, wrote a bit of fanfiction and eventually settled down at Ponychan's roleplaying community. That lasted for a couple of years until the roleplay sort of died down, at which point I hung around /chat/ and then /oat/ once that got merged together. After Ponychan merged with MLPchan, I decided to distance myself from the fandom, just to see whether I still really cared about MLP or if I just stuck around out of inertia. So, a few months later... Here I am!
