Twilight Sparkle's role in the pilot episodes was so well done! The way she solved the Elements of Harmony and the way she explained it to Nighmare Moon made my attitude of the series go from "meh" to "awesome!" Her leadership skills are inspiring, and there's no denying that her role is the highlight of the show. I say this as someone whose favorite pony is Fluttershy: If it wasn't for Twilight Sparkle and her smart and determined character, I wouldn't have gotten to love MLP.

Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!
ChB replied to Zach TheDane's topic in General Discussion
No, I don't think it's weird. There are musics that have questionable lyrics, but have very good rhythm and tune. It is possible to enjoy the music and band, without approving of what is said in the lyrics.- 3,318 replies

I am 24 years old. I first heard of Bronies in another forum, where it was referenced in passing, in a humorous way. I then asked myself, "What are Bronies?" A quick google search gave me the answer, and I thought, "Seriously? There are grownups who like it? Well, I guess it's just a nostalgia thing..." In yet another thread of the same forum, I saw someone express their love for the show, even going so far as to start a poll of favorite mlp ponies. Even though the thread was met with much ridicule from most of the posters, it won my curiosity. At that point, I was like, "Alright, that's it. I'm going to try one episode, just to see what all the fuss is about." I watched the first two episodes, thinking it was going to be more boring than those anime series I tried getting into, but never could. Turns out, it was so good that it made me very happy and excited for the rest of day. Unwilling to become a Brony at the time (due to my preconceptions of the fandom), I tried holding off the other episodes, thinking that the passion would die out in a few days. As you can probably tell, that failed, and I now proud to be a Brony. As for the guilty pleasure thing, I've been a closet Brony for a while before disclosing it to my brother. He was very understanding. "Confessing" to one made it easier for me to confess to more of my friends and family members. I now don't mind telling others I'm a Brony, especially if they ask me. But as much as I love the show and want to share it with people I care about, I try hard to resist the urge to bring ponies out of the blue, which would only fuel the Brony stereotype and make all my friends think I'm more weird.

Well said. It was those dark times that helped strengthen the faith of many. Job being a prime example.- 3,318 replies

Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!
ChB replied to Zach TheDane's topic in General Discussion
A broad question, but I hope I can help. Essential to Christian spirituality is to follow the two simple, yet greatest commandments: Love God and love your neighbors. In practice, this includes regular communion with God through prayer and thanksgiving, forgiving others as Christ has forgiven you, and serving others to help meet their needs. If we don't love others, then we can go to Church every week, say prayers all day, and read the Bible until we're blue in the face, but God will not approve of our works. (Matthew 15:8, 1 Cor. 13:1-3). That's not to say that the above aren't important; they are the best ways to help us get in a very close relationship with Christ. When I read one chapter of the Bible on a given day, I am edified by the teachings of Christ and inspired by the examples of those who follow him. When I pray, I feel very close to God. When I go to Church, I feel very connected to God's family (i.e. other Christians.) The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) is a great guide to Christian spirituality. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions. In Christ Jesus, ChB- 3,318 replies

Astronomy has been one of my favorite subjects, since 3rd grade. Majored in Physics with four classes in Astronomy. The existence of Dark Matter, Dark Energy, and possibly Wormholes inspire me of how little we know, and how much more we have to look forward to in unlocking the mysteries of our universe. I love these videos: Comparing the size of various celestial bodies, from the moon to some of the biggest stars: Computer-animated mission to find life on Europa:

Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

Thank you for this thread, Zach. It's so great to know that there are quite a few Christian Bronies in this forum. And thank you, Stardust Balance, for linking me to this thread. I am an Orthodox Christian. My first and foremost identity is in Christ, not MLP. That said, I am very obsessed with the show. I have a lot to look forward to, as I haven't even finished Season 1, yet. I love C.S. Lewis! Haven't read "Problem of Pain," yet, but I liked his Mere Christianity, Screwtape Letters, and the Great Divorce.- 3,318 replies

I'm so happy that this forum exists, and that it is so active and welcoming. There are very few people in real life that I have or am willing to admit my interest in the show.
