Some tips for you to consider: Don't use pure black. Use similar colors such as dark brown or dark blue. Use pure white sparingly. Use similar colors instead such as light blue or light yellow. Blue would portray a cool setting like the night while yellow portrays a warm setting like the sun. Avoid the colors found on MS Paint's default palette. I'm talking about the saturated pinks and blues you used frequently Never EVER use the grass brush in photoshop. It's like the Comic Sans of brushes. Ironically you are using this font. Let me explain what I mean. Comic Sans is one of the most hated fonts in the design world. The reason for this is because it was so over used and used incorrectly that now it is associated with 8th grader's projects. It doesn't read very well when compared to other fonts. You really shouldn't use it, especially if you're an artist. Now you know : ] I'd recommend sticking with the default Arial. Only use the smudge or blur tool when editing photography. Increase the contrast on your skin shading. They look flat and an increase in contrast will add depth. Try adding some reds and oranges to the skin tone. Unless you can replicate the style of the manga, I'd recommend not drawing a background landscape. Instead try things like well chosen solid colors, minimalistic patterns and occasionally simple gradients. If you do paint the scenery, keep in mind that lighter grass is rarely just a lighter green. It usually involved both an increase in the brightness of a color as well as a slight hue shift. Sun casts yellow light. Moon casts blue light. Keep in mind what kind of light is being cast. Don't forget shadows if you do draw a landscape. Use references. The instead of cat ears aren't really pink. You used a lot of cool colors, maybe try some warm colors? Don't mix photography with manga (or any cartoon really). My favorite pieces is kimg001 because the colors worked pretty well together even with the pink hair. I'm also a fan of manga that utilizes extreme gradients as seen on her stockings. Keep up the good work and don't let my long list discourage you. They are just suggestions. EDIT: One last thing. JPG file format is for photographs. PNG file format is for everything that doesn't animate. GIF file format is for everything that does animate.

Arma II, the game that DayZ is a mod for, has planes, tanks, civilians and clearly could have zombies. Day Z does have planes/helicopters, boats, cars, but no tank. Arma III, which is coming out this year, will be a better and will thus, hopefully, allow for better modding.

DayZ and WarZ share at least one thing in common with all of those game categories that you posted. Why don't you like them then?

Same reasons you play the games you play. All games can be generalized down to the some of the same basic mechanics. All games have a goal. Where do you get enjoyment from the games you play?

It looks less like a pony and more like a donkey/mule to me. I think it's primarily the tail that causes the impression though. A possible suggestion would be to increase the contrast. All of the colors of the skin are too close in value in my opinion.

So I haven't seen this brought up anywhere and it's related to music so I thought I'd bring it up for discussion. I don't know if feld0 wants to deal solely in music files, but it can't hurt to suggest it. Basically, the one feature (besides community size) that youtube has over pony.fm and other dedicated music websites is that youtube offers the ability to post some sort of music video. I know that not many songs in this genre have music videos, but some do or may in the future if the option is made available. This kinda of feature definitely seems like a beta or at least late alpha feature if added at all. Some limitations would obviously be no music visualizers or other visual special effects. IE: it would have to be something live action or animated. The ability to add a music video could be an option in the track upload options. Basically I see it as being a button of some kind near the tracks that had videos with them. Essentially, if this feature is added, I'd like to see the videos grouped with the songs they are videos of instead of separate entries as itunes does it. It would also be nice to have the option to listen to the song in video or just plain audio format while also having the downloads for the song and video being available on the side like they are now. An obvious problem with this idea is that video files are generally much larger files than audio files and would thus prevent a greater chance for slowing down pages and causing greater load on the server. It's definitely something that would be added later in the game. I feel like people will have a strong opinion on whether or not they want to see this feature so discuss away I guess.

Hey guys, So I was thinking to myself that it would be awesome if pony.fm could be my sole source for all things pony music, however there are several artists that would need to be on there for it to be my sole pony music website. I am sure that this is the case for many of you as there are a lot of good established brony musicians on youtube and other websites. Basically what artist would you, personally, like to see using pony.fm? For me I'd basically only need SimGretina to use pony.fm and I'd ditch youtube as my go to source for pony music. It would also be nice to have users like Silva Hound, Alex S, WoodenToaster and TheLivingTombstone.

@, I think that deleting them once you open the notification would be good, but my main problem is that it is tedious to go back and forth between the notification page and the page it is notifying me about. Usually I just open them all in new tabs then delete them so that I don't have to come back to the notification page. It doesn't bother me as much as the notification update problem, but it would be nice to see if a solution could be found so that multiple tabs and tedious navigation wouldn't be involved.

I'm not familiar with how youtube does it and the suggested videos bar is always super inaccurate. My usual opinion of suggestion bars is that they clutter the screen. I personally don't use them since they dont usually work for me. I suppose if Feld0 could come up with a more accurate way of offering suggestions to users then maybe, but I've yet to see it done well enough on other websites. I'd much rather have a way of selecting a random song from a specific genre, or other tag type.

Hello again. If you are familiar with DeviantArt's notification system (the system that pony.fm's notification system is based on) then you know that you have to open new tabs for each art work, journal, poll, etc that you want to see. Otherwise you have to go back and forth to the notification page, which is a huge hassle. It was suggested on Skype that we find a solution to this problem that doesn't involved, hopefully, multiple tabs or tedious navigation. One solution is to make a notification overlay on each page that toggles. This idea, however, would cause a lot of complications that would be nice to avoid. The second solution is to make the notification open the target page inside the page. Similar to the preview email feature that many email clients offer. Feel free to discuss these solutions or to put forth your own. More suggestions can only help.

So I am sure that many of you have seen or maybe even experienced the notification feature on the website. The insperation for the feature is taken primarily from DeviantArt. In Skype, the issue came up that DeviantArt is a tad sloppy on updating the notification count. If you've used the website you may have noticed that the notification counter only updates when the page is refreshed. This has always personally bugged me. For the most part a constant live update is out of the question due to server load times and expect community size. I have put forth the suggest that once you click on a notification system that it deletes that notification while also allowing you to see the update (whether it be in a new tab, in page, or something else is still being decided). Do you guys have any other ideas as to how to handle notification updates? Do you like this idea? What are your thoughts.

You make some fine points, but you over emphasize how much the "brand" plays into this forum. A brand works as an identity to the outside world, however MLP Forums is mostly contained within this domain. It doesn't visit the outside world much. Also Comic Sans is a bad font choice because it was over used and used incorrectly. Otherwise the font is fine when used for what it was made for. Also why would you put it in #000 black. You should have put it in #333. Talking about design too, tsk tsk.
