  1. I was listening to songs from a particular user and found it rather tedious to have to go back to their page to play the next song. Playing from an album is fine obviously, but album-less tracks tend to be a pain. What I had in mind was that the button would just go to the next track depending on where they came from. If they came from their profile and thus click on one of their songs from their track list then the next button would go to the next track in their total track list, but if they click on an album and then click on an individual song then the next button would take them to the next song in that album.
  2. I've always felt that volume controls were redundant at least on my computer that has buttons for volume right on the keyboard. I never use any of the volume controls.
  3. Deviant art offers the option of viewing more art pieces to it's premium members. I know I'd prefer to be able to just scroll down as long as possible before having to move my mouse to click on a next button. Deviant art puts the option a the bottom of the page near the footer. I think there is a minimalistic and clean way to implement this if you used icons.
  4. What would be the viability of limiting views by IP address? I think that views and plays will end up being very similar for most people since usually someone would click on a song to listen to the song. If both counters read similar or the same then I think that it would look worse due to the needless repetition. I feel it would be more efficient to limit view counter abuse or replace view counter with play counter. Additionally if you click the random track button and it brings you to a song you don't want then that view is meaningless which would decrease the usefulness of the view counter I would think.
  5. It might be too early, but he should definitely consider it now as it might influence potential decision making in terms of style or how something is coded since the potential mobile website will be based on the current websites code. pony.fm should definitely have both an RSS and mobile website. I am always against mobile apps for websites. I think it's stupid since you can just view almost the exact same thing on the website. As for the mock ups, they look good. I'd just like to say that the number one most annoying thing about mobile website is that there is never enough information in the mobile view and so I always end up having to go to full site which results in small and difficult navigation. If a mobile website is developed it should definitely be well thought out rather than an after thought like most mobile sites are. Some UX testing definitely needs to be done on something like that.

    Suggestions

Here are some things that I have noticed so far. Some of them might change as a result of the design change that I was told is inevitable. A lot of them are also very... small/nitpick. All suggestions are based on results seen with the, as of now, up-to-date version of Chrome. I will view the website in all of the main browsers later. The title text on individual songs and on the profile seem too close to the buttons and elements below it when using characters with a descender (ex: g,y,q,j and p). I'd recommend simply raising these elements so that they do not touch. On songs, the space between name of the artist and their avatar is created by a space characters and thus makes the underline effect when hovering, extend to the image. I'd recommend replacing the text " name" with "<span style='margin-left:8px;'>name</span>" Alternatively, you could move the styling to a css file. The white arrow in the play button for songs is not completely centered. It's not possible to center completely since the size of the box is 50x50 and the white arrow is 12x9. The way to truly center it is to to change the arrow to 12x10. I'd be happy to do that for you if you want, otherwise you should at least center it where you can. The arrow would need to be moved down 1px to make it perfectly vertically centered. It seems like a small change, but it always bothers me when I see it and it looks a lot better to me with either of the two fixes that I recommended. The Vinyl Scratch image and the text on the home page overlap. The "115 tracks with 5361 views, 2439 downloads, and counting!" and the text and button bellow it do not line up and thus break the grid. I'd recommend right justifying the <strong> text and then lining it up with the text and button below. The reason for this is that it will cause the text to grow out to the left as the songs, views, and downloads increase in number. It would be cool if one could view the list of tracks, albums, and users by alphabetical order, join date, track count, artist, upload date, title, genre and publish date respectively. Preferably by simply clicking on the respective column title texts. The song art does not line up with the track duration bar and thus breaks the grid The solution is to simply move the song art to the left 2px. For individual comments, I'd recommend moving the commentators name up by the post time so that it looks like: "Bohtty commented moments ago." and then making the comment box the size of the avatar + margin unless the comment is long enough to exceed that height of course. For the slogan I'd recommend changing it to either "By a brony, for a brony" or "By bronies, for bronies." It just flows better that way in my opinion. Thats it for now. A lot of these would be fixed with the redesign, but I'd figured I'd post them anyways. I also love the "Random Track!" button and the fact that you used an elipse character instead of just three full stops. I'm very curious to see what the design overhaul will look like. Just to be sure, the embedded player isn't going to be changed is it?

    gaming THQ

I liked Darksiders and Dawn of War. I also liked their logo which I think looked far better than any other companies' logo. I will be forever doomed to have ugly logos on my game case.
  9. hahaha If you want to try real life then wait till your 30. Anything less is a joke.
  10. Disregard all suspicions of our glorious leader. He only wants what is best for all human forum dwellers.
  11. You insult my internet speed by assuming images take that much time to load.
  12. I for one welcome our new Feldian overlords.
  13. How clever! You can just drop the food right on your body.
  14. Um what? I don't even know what you are trying to say. In case it wasn't apparent as I clearly thought it was, that entire post is sarcasm as indicated by the absurdity of the statement and the picture of the "Are you serious? face" meme. I am in no way obsessed with cartoons. I hardly watch them. Including MLP FiM.
  15. Well it seems one of my questions was already answered That leaves two more although question two is a 2-parter anyways. What are your plans to monetize pony.fm? Have you thought about possible expansion into non-pony music (similar to a bandCamp or soundCloud)? How scaleable is your current set up? As always, I love the direction you are taking the design. Keep up the good work. EDIT: Another question: Have you given thought to personally inviting top brony artists to try or endorse pony.fm? MORE EDITS: Alrighty, to answer your question posed at the bottom of the original post. The thing I would look for is the ease of finding new music. Youtube isn't particularly good at this since the related videos aren't usually that related. A solid tag system is definitely needed. Perhaps after everything is up and running you may want to look into audio similarity algorithms. Also, I would like to see some kind of user rating system. My favorite is tumblr's. It's not technically a rating system, but it sure works that way. You can tell how popular a post is by how many notes and reblogs it has. I would suggest a mixture between that and the common "like" system. Basically a user would press a Like, Love, Enjoyed or Favorited button (whatever word works for you lol) and it would add to a counter. To deter possible abuse, you could attach a users screen name to their like, as tumblr does so as to create some form of accountability. for example:"user x enjoyed this song." which could be in a collapsable menu etc. also please don't make this button add the song to any sort of list. I dislike Deviant art's favorited feature because I may like the direction the artist is going and still not think the piece qualifies as one of my "favorites". Also it would be nice to be able to follow an artist to be notified when they upload something.
  16. Hey guys, I for one welcome this change with open arms. Everyone knows Discord is a great and wonderful leader. Lets not go and disturb the Peace by besmirching the wonderful name of CD. Most of you will wonder how you Ever got along without our majestic and powerful leader, CD, to guide us.
  17. I'm just curious, about a few things: What are your plans to monetize pony.fm? Will users be able to sell there music? Have you thought about possible expansion into non-pony music? How scaleable is your current set up? If you addressed these in another thread/post, then I apologize for the redundant questions.
  18. One of my friends doesn't like the show, but doesn't hate bronies. All we did was break a social norm that has been firmly engrained into everyones brain since birth. Girls do girl things and guys do guy things. Plus people have nothing better to do with their time.
  19. Well I'm going to be the first to burst your bubble. You need far more than just a good idea for a serious comic/manga artist to help you. It's not impossible, but it is extremely unlikely. Most comics are written and drawn by the artist. Very few indie comics exist that aren't developed by the artist and those people are usually close friends with the artist. You didn't even spend much time making this post and yet you are asking for a lot. Also, your ideas sound unoriginal, no offense. The rag doll and the crazy scientist's son remind me of Sally and Dr. Finklestein from The Nightmare Before Christmas. You really haven't put much effort in this regardless of how much your seams are about to burst. The first thing any serious artist would want to see is the actual story or script. People go to school for years to learn this stuff. It is an art and as such you'll actually have to work at it. It's highly unlikely that you will get it right on your first try. I would start here: http://bit.ly/RVSZys and then delve further into character development, plot development, etc. Do some actual reading. Writing a story sounds easy, but it isn't. Good luck
  20. Protip: Don't save it as a jpg. Save it as a png because it is lossless and therefore results in higher quality images. Random fact: The weird blurriness around the image are called artifacts. Otherwise, if it's your work, good job, keep it up. It also looks like her hair is coming out of her mouth. I'd recommend repositioning her head or hair.
  21. I hope your problem gets resolved.

  22. Coincidence. Your dreams have no magical properties and only know what you know/can make up.
  23. Did you really do the best in everything you did? You didn't squander any opportunities or waste any time? Perfect grades in all of your classes?
