  1. As I recall when I first saw Equestria Girls on DF and then bought to blue ray some time later I realized that they had cut some of EQ and then some of RainBow Rocks. I expect they've cut some of this special too. Once people figure that out the move to streaming service of sometime is bound to happen. I don't watch Dr. Who on BBC America because they stuff the show so full of commercials I find it too tiresome.
  2. I got the feeling while watching that Celestia may have been in some sort of battle (this would be a time before the M5 were around to help her, Luna was still on the moon and I'm not sure about Cadence) counting on Sunset's help and Sunset ran out on her. That'd be worth a story I think. I think Wallflower's intent was to remove the girls memories of high school, all of the memories from their first day on. That would probably put Sunset's memories to just after she exited the portal and saw CHS for the first time.
  3. I know the comic showed us how Sunset left Equestria, but the series seems to be going in a different direction with that part of her history. At the end when we saw a confused Sunset wondering where she was and what happened to her it wasn't the scene from the comic where she's far calmer about it. With that would an episode showing how she 'abandoned and betrayed' Celestia be of interest to anyone or should we just leave it as is? I'd like to see it but if the show spends too much time exploring Sunset's bad period it could get stale quickly.
  4. Did I miss it or did we ever find out what happened to the sorceress that Clover was chasing?
  5. I'm not sure it would work with the theme of the show. I've read the X-men for a lot of years now and the grim and gritty and somewhat cynical attitude of the comic just doesn't fit MLP.
  6. I watched it this morning and a few things stood out for me. First was that they can still have some fun with their own mythos. "I've been here halfway through the song." Wallflower's first appearence. Sunset trying to steal the rock and interrupting the song and finally Pinkie interrupting Twilight at the end. I didn't think of the beach scene as fan service. When you look at what is regularly worn on beaches this stuff was very conservative. It does remind me though of when Annette Funicello started to make the beach movies with Frankie Avalon and Walt Disney asked her only to wear a one piece and she never wore a bikini in those movies. They still haven't put a new statue on the portal? What's the hold up there? Sunset re-adusted to her original body more quickly this time, but I think Equestria really isn't her home anymore. Everyone referred to the CHS world as 'her' world. So what ever happens after graduation I don't think she's returning to Equestria. I do wonder what she'll do, but I think she'd make a good teacher at CHS. Go Trixie! One thought that belatedly occurs to me is that if they had called Sunset a "Blue Meanie" instead of a "Big Meanie" they then could have done a nice Yellow Submarine style song Twilight in the Sky with Diamonds?
  7. She took Starlight to the CHS world because she asked, if someone at Canterlot who didn't have a counterpart in Equestria (or at least Ponyville) heard Sunset talking about the place and wanted to visit would Sunset take them?
  8. Sunset. I like Twilight but Sunset has seen so much and done so much in her life so far, just listening to her stories would be interesting.
  9. If nothing else a college would give them a new land an new ideas to explore. Right now the M6 in Equestria are living more or less young adult lives, each has their own profession and is making a living at it. Of the M6 in Equestria girls only Sunset Shimmer is living independently, the rest are all living with their parents. An interesting take on post CHS would be if the girls did go to college and all moved into the same place. A large Victorian that Sunset buys would do and it would be something that she'd do so that they wouldn't be separated. Having them all living together would open up a lot of stories about friends getting on each other's nerves and such. Have to say though that when they do graduate Canterlot High School is going to be a pretty boring place
  10. Well we now know that the human and pony/human can exist in the world at the same time without any real balance problems. I think it might be interesting if the human Sunset who does live in another city sees the pony/human Sunset on the screen in the Daring Do movie. That storyline could really settle a few questions.
  11. Didn't think of that. Maybe the mirror portal was a prototype he realized wouldn't work.
  12. In the show it was Starswirl and the rest of the Pillars that sent the Sirens into a portal, but it was implied in the show (and shown in the comics) that he put them through the portal that Sunset and later Twilight used. I wonder if he created the mechanical portal first and came up with the banishment spell as a by product of his portal design, or if he built the mechanical portal afterward, possible as a way of finding out where the Sirens had gone. It might be that it was only after the Sirens were sent into the portal that Starswirl realized that banishing them to another world meant that another world had to deal with them.
  13. I think the portal making clothing, shaping bodies and such is just part of how it works, very much like the TARDIS language translation circuits. Its just part of the basic design theory, like you wouldn't design an airplane without landing gear would you?
  14. I think that her making a memorable return to Equestria (aside from another book delivery, we don't know how fast she'll fill up that last book) will depend on why she returns. At this point with the return of the legends I'm not sure she'd be needed to save the day. After all there are now 4 ailcorn princesses, the legends and the M6, plus Starlight Glimmer; that's a pretty hefty power block for any villain. I think the kind of episode that would be the most memorable is one where Sunset faces some massive trauma in the world of CHS and decides to return to Equestria because she can't face it. Some action or event that is so great that she can't stand living in the human world anymore. I can think of a lot of reasons, but most would have to stay in the realm of fanfic (Twilight rejects her, something happens to the rest of the girls... something like that), leaving the sort of friendship problem solving arc that would at least demand a two parter. The decision of where to live and in what body to live would be worth a mini-movie all its own. Or alternately she might be forced to return to Equestria because with her in the human world there is a magical imbalance and if she doesn't return both worlds are doomed. This would be interesting on a lot of levels, she might have some resentment of human Twilight for damaging the portal, she might try to re-create her friendship with the human M5 with the pony M5 but get what she's done with the human counterparts mixed up with what she's done with the pony counterparts. Another way that she might be forced to return would be if her human body contracted an illness that her pony body would be immune to, she'd have to return to Equestria to live. Right now Sunset has in many ways the best of both worlds. She has a human life and friends and can contact and talk to Twilight when ever she wants, she even has a choice of bodies (and who wouldn't envy that? I'd love to turn into a cat or a dragon or something like that if I could) and universes to live in. I think a memorable return episode would be one where her choices were suddenly a lot less.
  15. I think that all of the forces had to be aligned in the right way at the right time. The magic of friendship, Starswirl's spell, the energy released when each cutie mark was switched back to the rightful places and Twilight's own personal evolution. It all happened in just the right way at just the right time.
  16. Then they would most likely seek out the most trouble places, or people. I wonder if they'd find the Sirens?
  17. At least in the world of CHS. Perhaps because the element that was first brought into the CHS world by Sunset was fought over by her and Twilight. Going bit further on that line of thought; the fact that the personifications of the other five elements were and are often in close proximity to the portal influenced the magic as it flowed into the world of CHS.
  18. Intentionally. In Equestria the pony Twilight finds in Starlight a friend and supporter who shares many of the same interest that Twilight does, and in the land of CHS the human Twilight (who is less sure of herself, does not have pony Twilight's life time of magical learning and is facing a force that her lifelong pursuit of science told her didn't exist) finds in Sunset a friend who is self assured, knows magic and is willing to support her during those times when human Twilight is out of her dept. We saw this in Freindship Games at least twice when it was Sunset who guided Twilight to grasping the geodes and before that in parting the brambles to get into the camp. In Equestria Starlight does not have an element of harmony because Twilight and the rest of the M6 are complete, but in the human world Twilight is only complete when Sunset is with her. Thus my theory is that the element of friendship in the human world split into two parts because it needed too. Starlight and Sunset are the second part of the friendship equation, each being the type needed for each world. Pinky, Rarity, AppleJack, Fluttershy and Rainbow are complete in themselves.
  19. Friendship is a binary concept. Perhaps in Equestria Starlight is the second part of the equation where in the world of CHS Sunset is the second part?
  20. Hard to say. The magic from Equestria really started to leak through when Midnight Sparkle started tearing the dimensional barriers apart and from the looks of it while Sunset sealed most of the rifts she didn't get the one on the portal itself. Magic is equal parts emotion/desire and control. I believe that the magic wanders the human world randomly until it encounters a place to settle and/or a person with a huge amount of emotional need or distress. It settled into the geodes and Gloriosa had the desire, but not the control. It think it is possible that if Twilight had not gone to Camp Everfree then there would have been only six geodes and that because she was there the last geode split in two because both Sunset and Twilight had previous exposure to magic. Also that the magic they both have the most affinity for is friendship magic. I think it's reasonable to think that Sunset and Twilight are both so alike in manor, temperament and interests that any friendship magic would be split between them.
  21. Maybe. Pony Twilight always had her natural magic to draw upon, and so did Sunset until she came through the portal, but human Twilight never used magic in her life until the Friendship games and she isn't as confident in her self as pony Twilight. Maybe she instinctively needs Sunset or thinks deep down that she won't be able to control the magic without Sunset nearby. The relationship between human Twilight and Sunset and pony Twilight and Sunset is fundamentally different. Sunset looks up to pony Twilight the way human Twilight looks up to Sunset.
  22. It's possible. Perhaps they both carry equal parts of the magic of friendship. We've only seen human Twilight use her full powers when Sunset has been nearby.
  23. Perhaps the human world needs that extra element? Or that one of the elements split as it passed through the portal?
