All good things must unfortunately come to an end. I've been at my BF's house for the past month and a half (wow, it doesn't feel like it's been THAT long... ), and from what I can glean I'm going "home" (not really, my heart's not there almost at all ) tomorrow.

@Kyoshi It's a movie reboot of the show. I hear it's basically like a movie-length episode with more updated animation.

You know what p!$$es me off? "I Need Healing I Need Healing I Need Healing I Need Healing". For so many reasons.

@AveryGamerDude Hey, he had potential when contests were a thing...

@AveryGamerDude Furret's a lover not a fighter.

Tribalism and ID politics need to stop for the sake of this f***ing world. If you support somebody, that's fine. But when a fault is pointed out, please don't get defensive. I'll admit Bernie Sanders is my favorite for 2020, but I'm very bothered by his stance on Israel and the minimum wage because both of them are problematic and disagreeable. I rarely see people who support most mainstream politicians or Trump for that matter doing the same thing. I also find it funny some people who say this immediately contradict themselves (your average Republican voter, to name a specific group that does so quite often). I do mean this exactly how I'm wording it and it is one principle I stand by because I try to be as principled as I can be within reason and this definitely does not get to that point.

I could say some things I don't like about Andrew Yang. Like for example he apparently is for a Carbon tax unless I'm reading it wrong. Which would be difficult to implement, and even if it weren't, it could be a serious problem for middle class Americans to actually afford.
Nonetheless, he's a very solid candidate I also like for 2020 along with Tulsi.

Quote
While a regular carbon tax would just go to some bureaucratic coffer, the fee and dividend system would see half of the tax go back to citizens as a dividend to offset the rise in prices. It seems like he's looking to include that half in his funding for the freedom dividend. The other half would go to projects that are enhancing efficiency of fossil fuels or increasing availability of renewable resources.
It's a little better than a straight carbon tax, but your point still stands imo.

@Blivy I really don't know. I guess they just really don't like people talking about current events or something.

*Next Smash Fighter is some random Fire Emblem character nobody asked for*
Me: "Well that was disappointing"
Also Me: "If she's just going to be another generic sword character I'll actually be mad."
*She is*
Me: "UHM THIS IS NOT OKAY... I mean seriously, this over Geno, Crash...?"

@SolarFlare13 I would actually be angry if I didn't understand WHY they were putting in a Fire Emblem character, but nonetheless, I'm extremely disappointed... This is the most disappointing DLC fighter yet.
But at least we got Banjo and Terry in this pass, so that's something.

The Paladins community is having a fuss over them revealing a gay character...
Not like it's that way with other gaming communities, but it's freaking ridiculous. They decide to make a character gay, it's not an f***ing problem. And to the people complaining "but Fernando flirts with literally every female character" have you thought of the idea that... It may not be flirting at all? Even then, what's that to get triggered over?
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
I don't think it's on the rise, I think it just isn't getting better. It may be the loud minority of triggered homophobes may be getting louder.
-
I agree, considering that the whole thing should be over with by now. But people are just crybabies, and that's a shame.

If Trump's xenophobia isn't already apparent, here's more confirmation of it:

Yeah me and my BF just talked about it very briefly and we both agree it's a very Trump thing to do. Not really unexpected for somebody who thinks that Mexico is waging a covert war on the United States (by "sending us their worst"), or that everyone in the Middle East should get glassed (well, essentially that's what he said).

Now my dad is making me feel guilty for my homoromanticism. He got on the discussion of grandchildren with someone and he groaned about how he probably wouldn't have anymore.
But there's always the option on my end to adopt kids. Dammit Dad, you're making me so conflicted! I don't feel like I would be good with kids, but he's making me feel the obligation of parenthood. Not like that was his intention, because it wasn't, but nonetheless it makes me feel a bit conflicted...

@LarsonNumber42 I never said he ever intended to make me upset or told me anything specifically, but you are right. If I don't want to raise a child, I shouldn't have to. It's just that I feel a little guilty about it. Though I guess It's not too hard to make me feel guilt for something I probably shouldn't.

You know, seeing @Lucky Bolt's status update honestly worries me about my own relationship... Their relationship SEEMED to have so few problems from the outside... Ours, well, has more obvious issues that, luckily for us, seem to be getting addressed to some degree by the both of us.
I'm not going to say what I'm thinking about that whole thing right now, because I don't want to make things worse. What I will say though, is that some people may REALLY not like my thoughts on the matter.

I might start playing Showdown again at some point, but if I encounter too many cheese strats I'm going to stop again.

@Dusklicious Are there any particular Belly Drum Pokémon that you have qualms with?
-
@AveryGamerDude I got swept by a Furret running Belly Drum a couple of times and I also had issues with Darmanitans running it. The big issue is the move itself not really giving you much of a chance to switch out without who you switch to getting swept anyways.

So Mountain Dew apparently has a commercial that's a reference to The Shining.
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
Yeah, they have the script with repeated sentences off the typewriter (though it's advertising how supposedly good Mountain Dew is instead of saying "Work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"), and I think the same music in the background.
Thought it was really interesting when I saw that. Guess 80's nostalgia still isn't over yet. Read up on it, and that's apparently supposed to be their Super Bowl ad. Guess I just saw it early on YouTube...
-
I didn't know this, but apparently the word "spastic" is offensive to people with certain disabilities (cerebral palsy in particular), particularly in the UK. Heard about that in a YouTube documentary talking about how MP8 included that word apparently without realizing people would take offense to it... It was fixed, but apparently not soon enough to not be an issue.
Looking it up, it kind of makes sense why. Still nothing like the three-letter F-word that's occasionally used as a synonym to cigarette... Now that is the most VILE word in the English language.
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
It's more of a UK thing from what I hear, mainly propagated by a kid's show's use of the word to the point where in the 80's and the 90's kids in the UK would use it so much as an insult to the point where in the mid 90's it progressively just became an offensive word altogether.
Still would have nothing on that other word. Seriously somebody saying that one ought to get slapped.
-
@Renegade the Unicorn I've never once heard it used like that. But honestly I'm not exactly sure in that situation, probably not in all honesty because I don't see why they'd intentionally use it harmfully.
And in the case of... this specific word, every plausible origin of its usage is pretty much people being intentionally offensive. Either it was to call us "awkward to be carried" or essentially a peasant selling firewood. There's also an alternative theory that the slur originated from basically forced sexual assault (essentially calling us rapists or making fun of us for an archaic practice from the 1800s). Any way, the origin of the N-word isn't really that offensive, just a mispronunciation of the country in Africa with a similar name.

My dad's being blasphemous about animation.
-
I don't really like it when people complain about the politicization of something... While, in the process, politicizing it, in some cases even further, themselves. I agree we shouldn't be putting things that have nothing to do with politics into a political context, but being political in the process of saying that makes it absurdly hypocritical.
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
@Kyoshi And the same people who make that political would say that MGS made that political, when they just made a character for a game, that happened to be gay.
-
@Blivy Ayyyy, a fellow anarchist!

The more and more I think about it, the more and more I'm positive Trump's idiocy is an act. He seems to be intentionally trying to cause a $#!+storm so he can divide everyone and conquer the divided. Does that sound malicious to you? That's because it is. He indeed has quite a bit of malice hiding behind the orange skin and his tiny hands.

@Twiggy Maybe if they give Bernie, Tulsi, or Yang a chance. Which they likely won't.

Trump thinks that THEY should apologize after he makes obviously inaccurate, xenophobic remarks to these CONGRESSWOMEN? Good luck on that one, Agent Orange.

@TheTaZeI think they’re talking about one of the characters from Monsters Inc. You know the guy who ran the business the movies title comes from. The other villain aside from Randal who had those weird spidery legs.
-
@OdellaLark and @TheTaZe I was talking about the character from Monsters Inc. I say that because I've been seeing a lot of memey videos around about him lately on YouTube.

So Ultimate is releasing 2 weeks from now, and I'm having a dilemma on the subject of whether I should main Yoshi or K. Rool ... Even though I won't get to play the game on release, and I probably won't get to play it much until probably January if I get to move in with my brother (he pre-ordered it).
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
@Odyssey But I've still yet to actually play K. Rool and I'm so used to wrecking with Yoshi...
But K. Rool is K. Rool so... It's a hard decision....
-
@Odyssey I suppose that K. Rool is going to be a good bit better in the meta than Yoshi will be anyways (K. Rool seems like a high tier character while Yoshi is probably still mid tier). Yoshi can just be a reliable secondary choice anyways, along Young Link, Ike, Wolf, and maybe Ness. I've wanted a good heavy anyways, and his neutral B is looking to be my favorite move in the entire game. Seriously, there's just so much you can do with it...
-
Well, I'm watching Total Recall, and I have to say it's a really great film. But seemingly slightly excessive violence holds it back.

Elitism really needs to stop. Donald Trump deserved more than the booing he got at the World Series. He's a corrupt fascist war criminal, and I'm not using those for the sake of using buzzwords. Those are the facts as they are. And to the people that chanted "lock him up": Absolutely respect them, we need more people using his own hypocritical, stupid chant from 2016 against him since even if Hillary should be locked up, so should Trump without any question, it's not like he doesn't belong in jail either. He's committed plenty of war crimes and crimes against humanity to go around for an impeachment and a good 100 life sentences. Also, MSNBC defended Trump here, so any Trump supporters still clutching their pearls shouldn't be like "you MSNBC hack po$"

@Renegade the Zombiecorn Stuff like this is why I consider myself something similar, and why I find the right (especially in the US) to be so amusing and frustrating at the same. It's all of this ridiculous BS, and how much of snowflakes they can really be when one of their own gets berated for very good reasons, or when somebody dares not to worship their piece of fabric.
-
Part of the issue with that statement is that the phrase "far left" is so often misused by the right to refer to fake left liberals that it's losing its meaning in that context. Plus the left wing YouTube channels I watch never advocate for anything like this whatsoever. They'll willingly criticize people they look up to when they do something that they shouldn't.
-
To people that claim short hair is easier to maintain than long hair, I call BS.
-
Is it just me, or do movie critics seem to have a hatred of comedy films?
