    Hey. Haven't been here in a while. Just seen all the replies. I agree with the consensus and especially with what @FearTheBelle said. It was mainly why I raised the question in the first place. I think it's natural that people will have a higher expectation of the finale than other episodes. But the writers have recognised important milestones in the past so I'm sure they'll do a good job. Honestly, I think season 9 is really enjoyable. Season 8 did a good job on lowering my expectations.

    I just re-watched this episode and surprised I didn't notice before, but when Fluttershy turns up after Spike had been trying to cheer Garble up, Spike tells Fluttershy that Smoulder's brother is 'Garble' and Fluttershy reacts to the name. That got me to thinking... has Fluttershy even met Garble before? Would Twilight, Rarity and Rainbow Dash describe to Fluttershy the mean dragons by name? I don't see it happening. Literally unwatchable. Zero stars.

    There have been some very last-seasony episodes in this, the last season; I'm impressed - It makes me slightly more optimistic for the potential of the final episode.

    I was watching Hurricane Fluttershy earlier last week and you pretty much put my thoughts to words. Aspiration vs Realism is the theme. And the lesson is clearly that you can win without "winning". Dash didn't break any combined wing-power records - Fluttershy didn't break ANY records. Both of them deservedly felt accomplishment at the end of the episode. I would also like to mention 'Fall Weather Friends' - If this were made today, Twilight would have won the race, even if she didn't come first.

    Just rewatched this episode again and still have tears in my eyes. Probably my favourite season 5 episode. Big Mac deserved some screen time. The guy's shyer than Fluttershy except when he's in his alter ego

    They never shy away from the difficult topics. I didn't know until now about the real life connection with the actors. And Snips & Snails even managed to put a smile on my face - that's a first! Well played, series 9! edit: @RaphLuna That's a valid point about Scootaloo. She never did get much backstory and this kind of episode would have been perfect and touching as all hell.
