  1. Thank you Snoopy Fan, kindness truly is helpful, especially against the doom and gloom of real life. You got my vote, always.
  2. Sure, if I don't have to wear sunscreen when doing that. :D

Princess Celestia truly is adorable, if she offered hugs in that hypothetical scenario, why not?

  3. Me too and if we existed in the fantasy realm of Equestria in MLP G4/FIM, vinyl would be the go to music medium anyways by the looks of things. If you ever been to a 90's rave with a DJ, you'd probably be used to that sort of thing anyway. In Hasbro's fictional world they made, their tech is much older or more archaic, but they still have music, DJ Pon-3 and Octavia Melody to name a few involved in that. But you know, in that imaginary scenario, I would not complain about that. How music is made, the creativity that goes into making it and the fun people have, matters much more than the medium used, good songs on a vinyl will always be better than bad music on a CD IMO.
  4. I think it's unfair for people to talk down on music lovers who collect vinyl records still. I know this issue is not all that common but it does happen. I am aware of CD's being superior in quality, but I do understand the nostalgic value vinyl records hold. Vinyl records can wear out, but then so can CD's. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, some music was never released on other mediums, many were, but there are some tracks out there that were never transferred over, downloadable music excluding piracy, did not change that.
  5. This gets into the philosophical debate about what is reality, Morpheus explained as much in the Matrix film, I know it's only scfi however it is also a thought provoking matter. If people define what is real by what they can experience with their human senses, then it is simply a matter of electrical signals interpreted by the brain. VR as depicted in scifi, blurs the line between illusion and reality, because while the virtual world does not operate at the physical level as we know it, if you were trapped within this simulation, how would you be able to tell the difference? imagine if you were kidnapped, and then made a test subject within a VR world, you wake up in this simulated world that looks, feels, tastes, smells and sounds just as real as the one you grew up in, but you were never told about what happened, all of a sudden, this strange environment becomes your "new reality". I'm not making an argument for or against simulation hypothesis actually existing in the real world as we do not have sufficient evidence to determine one way or another, this is merely a philosophical discussion of what it would mean to be in a simulation, is it right or wrong, how much of a mind bender the concept truly is.
  6. I cannot deal with the toxicity of the GBNews audience. So many people are missing the point entirely with the changes coming from the DWP. Always money for war, never for people in need of help. Such a pathetic species humans are.

      don't watch GB 'News' :raritydespair:

  7. Jaleel White will always be my favourite VA for Sonic the Hedgehog. You know if Sega and Hasbro were to ever do an MLP and Sonic crossover, it would be cool to have Jaleel White voice Sonic again, with Satam style animation for that character, not sure how that would mesh with the pastel characters for MLP G4.
  8. One concept I did like about Sonic Underground is the idea of Sonic having siblings, and a mother named Queen Aleena

Sega don't really push for expanding the lore of the franchise like they used to, they're half in half out so to speak. Then you get the nostalgia fanatics who say Sonic should not have humans besides Eggman. Right, like we are expected to believe it makes any logical sense for Dr Eggman to be the only human. That old controversy is dead now, but I remember that being kicked up in the fandom a long time ago by groups of people who are okay with Super Mario having friends, but not Sonic, and it has been a toxic legacy in the Sonic fandom ever since and it's one reason why Sega is too afraid to get ambitious with their creations.

  9. I may be wrong about this assumption, but it's possibly because it makes their hands easier to draw. Be it Mickey Mouse in Disney cartoons or Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons like Satam, AoStH or Sonic Underground. No worries, Hasbro never had to worry about drawing fingers in MLP series with the exception of Equestria Girls. Ponies have hooves, not fingers or toes.
  10. Some DVD R's are dodgy, if I cannot write to them due to bad sectors I simply bin them. They're not worth the effort, I do attempt secondary writes with them but if the second one fails but the next one works, all bets are off, the disc burner drive is fine but the DVD is not.
  11. I hate the country I was born and raised in, makes me sick. Why be a patriot to a nation that is so hateful?
  12. Watching Jumanji 1995 movie to get my mind off things, I cannot sleep right now. I don't wish the same for all of you, sometimes it feels like there is nothing that can be done but watch the world crash and burn though. In real life, good people don't always win.
  13. Feeling anxious about the future of the world and my own country in particular, too many messed up people live here. Let's just say it'll affect people's finances and their ability to survive. I got to take my medication again but I am truly outraged at some bad news I picked up on recently.
  14. I think last night my dream was about a rabbit chewing on a headphone cable, or something like that, it's not too out of the ordinary compared to what dreams could be though. I don't know if I'd call that a weird dream, funny perhaps? yes.
  15. Sounds similar to the peanut butter flapjacks I eat sometimes.
  16. Dreams are the only solitude from a chaotic world. I know how Peter Dickenson felt in the Flight of Dragons movie, reluctant to leave that world, but was forced to do so as a lesser of two evils to defeat Ommadon. We are trapped outside the realm of magic, not the other way around. Sometimes I cannot tell if that's a good or bad thing, the real world certainly does not seem like it will ever improve, people keep committing terrible acts of violence and they do this without the existence of magic.

  17. You can thank Wile E Coyote from Looney Tunes, breaking physics as if is Neo in the Matrix.
  18. Which would you choose, a computer generated simulation of your own dream world which you can share with friends who consented to it, or a world ruined by machines? Also, as the question about The Matrix implies, AI life forms would be sentient within the simulated environment and take on the form of life in whatever fantasy world was created for them, be they animal with a brain, or certain kinds of robots. It is whatever fantasy world you desire it to be, and the world continues to exist so long as the hardware that supports it does. In this hypothetical situation, the hardware is capable of self maintenance and repair at the molecular level, making it very difficult for it to fall apart simply by aging of the system, as long as it has a power source and a way to recycle materials, it'll sustain itself, but then this gets into scifi territory and not what exists in the real world. The system would be limited only by the physics of the simulation, the simulated environments themselves would have rules like a society with laws that prohibit anyone to harm or abuse sentient programs within the system, breaking laws for example could get you arrested the same as in the real world, enforcing rule of law. You could be a knight that works for a medieval King or Queen in an ancient time period, but breaking their laws, like poisoning one of their guests, could get you sent to a dungeon. Choose wisely.
  19. This one is a toughie, because some people have had so many negative experiences in their own lives that they want to escape it, and I get that, to exist in a world that is seemingly impossible to fix, does feel nerve wrecking or soul destroying. This thread kind of makes me want to make a thread asking if people would like to exist in a computer generated dream world like The Matrix, even if they could exist there eternally although that is not guaranteed due to things like glitches, power outs and all sorts of other problems. But as Morpheus points out in that movie, you either take the blue or red pill, and whichever you go with, there are consequences. There are consequences for living a lie, but waking up to a dystopian world is not great either. I would be very tempted to take the dream world option, especially after both of my parents had died in the future. But the world you leave behind, you do still have positive memories of and that would be hard to let go of.
  20. Nutter butters? what like peanut butter?
  21. Good idea, DVD R's are useful. If my My Little Pony Friendship is Magic official DVD's are region 1 I could use my PC to make an artificial DVD for personal use to bypass the region restrictions to then playback on my Playstation 2. I know people who design DRM don't want us doing that, but we paid for these copies, why sell region 1 DVD's in the UK if they're not going to work on our players? makes no sense.
  22. Did research last night and came to the realization that I won't have to purchase a balanced headphone cable for my portable audio player after all. 5 milliwatts and 2 volts seems like it would work fine, I don't use planar magnetic headphones or anything like that. I am aware there are some people out there who do though, they seem to like the Hifiman Sundara headphones a lot, which is one of the most cost effective planar magnetic headphones that exist before you get into the really expensive stuff.
  23. I wrote this on my page, venting about the stupid controversy about Princess Twilight Sparkle's alicorn power up. "I know not everyone is going to agree with my take on this one, but for the aforementioned filler and multiple episodes problem of certain kinds of shonen anime, I actually enjoy watching battles in cartoons like My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic and DCAU's Justice League a lot more and I find their conflicts more engaging or relatable. I am not entertained by the abuse of power ups for the sake of escalating drama. That problem does not exist in MLP FIM, even with Alicorn power ups, it's only one transformation, whatever, get over it, Twilight Sparkle is an Alicorn, who cares."
