  1. Unless I interpreted it wrong I think Bairro was suggesting that you could put money aside to move out when you become a legal adult and she cannot legally stop you at that point from leaving (even if it feels very, VERY scary. believe me I know) It's up to you how you handle it of course, you don't have to do anything you don't want to :] But just because you're physically safe doesn't mean you're emotionally safe - the scars of emotional abuse often are the deepest of the survivors of even the most grotesque abuse. I think that's why Bairro brought it up because over time emotional abuse takes a heavy toll. Your emotional wellbeing matters too. <3
  2. Holy crap dude, that is so many layers of fucked up and I'm so sorry about all this... this is not normal behaviour, it has nothing to do with the stress of a parent, that is utterly insane behaviour from anyone but especially towards one's own child it is reprehensible. You have legitimately done nothing wrong to deserve any of that, this just reeks of reaching for any fabricated excuse to lash out at you. It legitimately has nothing to do with what you're doing and everything to do with whatever's wrong with her head - your well being SHOULD matter to her regardless of how young you are... Truth be told I get concerned when someone is preoccupied with always being positive because I suspect something is going on but I wasn't expecting all of that... I hope you know it's okay to be upset about being hurt. :/
  3. Had some lovely, homemade marinaded chicken kebab, tomato and pepper skewers with wraps and yoghurt kebab dip. <3 So filling just 1-2 are enough for the whole evening.
  4. Had a good lol. Also witnessed an emergency team with full on hard hats and high vis vests as well as nurses place a ladder up onto the balcony straight above us because the guy above had a bit too much to drink and had collapsed, so that was curious lol "well he doesn't LOOK dead!" everyone thank key workers for keeping our society afloat while also being the funniest people alive.
  5. I just checked and realised you're a minor and may not be able to do much about this yet - I'm so sorry, it's a massive problem the lack of rights minors have when abuse is concerned. :c just know it's not your fault at all for how she acts...
  6. There is a time for positivity and cases of abuse are *not* it. Anger at these situations is healthy and NECESSARY - it's our bodies telling us we need to act to protect ourselves and trying to "positive think" ourselves away only means the problem persists because we don't protect ourselves. I'm sorry you're being treated that way, it's worse when it's a parent. :/
  7. I think this is true for... practically all countries that are culturally prominent or advertised for tourists, honestly. People see tourist versions of countries and go to them expecting a theme park (ESPECIALLY in capitals which NEVER represent a country accurately) and think they've seen anything, or in cases where they outright migrate, they expect things to be like Hollywood/anime depictions of the country and it's just all disconnected from the real country and its culture that isn't Instagram sanitised for their gaze.
  8. I don't know. What are you, my 2AM thoughts? :p
  9. I'm feeling hungry, and amused at stuff irl I suppose.
  10. Friendship is like a wet blanket, you gotta strain it and strain it until there is nothing left. That is friendship. 🙃
  11. Average day in retail?
  12. ACROSS THE STYX AMONG THE MISTS OF HADES A GATE OF STONE MARKS THE PATH TO SOUL'S DAMNATION AND HELL'S WRATH~
  13. For real that would make the most epic doom album ever.
  14. ^ see ya in hell when it all goes down everyone \m/
  15. lolol there is footage of the car of the killers on fire after they disposed of it and incinerated it. This happened at midday in broad daylight on a MAIN ROAD and apparently my sister and her mum had no clue this had happened (presumably the cops had to shut down the road and divert traffic) so when her mum was late to pick her up from work she exclaimed "lots of traffic today!"
  16. Not super - there is the VERY occasional armed crime and mafia stuff but it is very unlikely it will affect your day to day life unless you are involved in such business. :p Usually killings are more political. In this case they were only targetting some kind of mafia boss, nobody else was harmed. The craziness levels of horrific incidents have definitely ramped up in recent years though. It's more black humour than anything else... it's really not great, funnily enough this incident is probably the most normal and small scale one in a while. Edit: to clarify my neighbourhood is very safe typically, it's nuts in other ways lol
  17. Nothing like your sister messaging asking you if you miss your old neighbourhood and then dropping a news article about a mafia execution happening in your neighbourhood recently. G o d I MISS IT
  18. I do share the horror at recent events and genocides in the world and I don't think I will ever have faith in our institutions anymore - I didn't think I had any to begin with but it all has been made abundantly clear. It's been horrific. However I disagree that human nature is to be innately genocidal and self centered and violent. Does a newborn child come into this world with innate genocidal bloodlust? I don't think people on this forum are some monsters either. I think the saddest realisation I have come to is that everyone is doing what they can in the ways they know how with the things they've been taught to believe and the psychic wounds they carry that have changed their personalities to what people perceive as evil or self centered actions. And it's harder to accept that complexity - it's definitely been challenging to my own belief system about people but I can't say my view has changed, it's just hard to separate my shock and anger from my views. None of this excuses atrocities, though. Far from it.
  19. Inevitabilis remix by Astrophysics this morning. :p
  20. ^ Lots of artists are opposed to AI due to labour and art theft concerns (artist jobs being replaced by AI, AI feeding on art made by artists without permission and using it for its art generation, etc) If you ask me, a lot of AI art just looks tacky and I think of Facebook boomer pages when I see it. 😂
  21. Don't have one. We used to have patronymics instead, my dad has one on legal documentation, but they're not commonly used these days.
  22. I don't really have role models per se - I think seeing someone as 'superhuman' (for a lack of better word) is a different way of dehumanising them. Everyone is human with virtues and flaws and talents they worked hard for. And I also think it's a gateway to disappointment because once you put someone on a pedestal, when their uglier sides come through you may end up feeling lost and confused if you based large chunks of yourself around another person. It doesn't mean I don't have people whose talents I massively respect, but I try not to see people in an idolising way. Thaaaat said, when I was young I was asked this question in class and I answered with 'my sister', but don't tell her that ;P and we have surpassed her too
  23. I can stand the short form of it but have already started using another in informal settings - legally changing it would require either getting involved with an embassy or flying back and the bureaucracy in my home country sucks to say the least :p it is on my to do list though. Plus I was named after my dad's abusive mum and I would really not be the carrier of that. She's already suspected of harming me as a child and my mum never let her babysit me after the incident lol
  24. Don't think they sold them in my country but even if they did... that does NOT look NOR sound appetising 😂 my stomach is just turning looking at that fake ham, holy smokes??
  25. Don't watch many shows anymore but I LOVE She-Ra: Princesses of Power and BoJack Horseman :p I also enjoy The Dragon Prince but I also have a lot of gripes with it I could spend listing all day. Critically enjoy it I guess? First couple seasons were super solid.
